Tour of Oman (2.HC) Stage 5/6, 142.6 kms The penultimate stage usually offers an ultimate chance to climb the overall standings. The fight to be in the breakaway will be a hard one. Vuelta stage winner Eder Chávarri managed to join the breakaway and realised he had to keep up a good pace to survive the three climbs. His pace was only high enough to drop one breakaway companion, as the likes of Van Avermaet, Ben King and Daniel DÃaz survived, for now. At the second one, only DÃaz and King were still in his wheel. Both of them refused to relay in the descent though and right when two others joined them, DÃaz attacked silently. Nobody felt like chasing anymore.
The collaboration vanished and DÃaz's gap increased. The pack reeled in the others and Sam Vandenborre had been dropped from it before. Chávarri survived the last climb, were an extremely strong Bouhanni towed along the others. Among them overall leader Joe Dombrowski, Romain Bardet and Julian Alaphilippe, who had raced very sharply. A last minute everything-or-nothing attack from Chávarri stranded just before the finish as DÃaz won a great stage for his Whirlpool - Author team. Vandenborre and Chávarri gave it their all and both won some positions in the general classification. The latter even enters the top 10. 1 | | Daniel DÃaz | Whirlpool - Author | 3h33'03" | 2 | | Mathieu van der Poel | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 3 | | Julian Alaphilippe | Tinkoff | s.t. | 4 | | Eder Chávarri | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 5 | | Lilian Calmejane | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | | Louis Meintjes | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 7 | | Joseph Dombrowski | UnitedHealthcare Pro Team | s.t. | 8 | | Romain Bardet | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 9 | | Nacer Bouhanni | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 10 | | Jakob Fuglsang | Orica-GreenEDGE | + 1'53" |

Ruta del Sol (2.1) Stage 4/6, 179.4 kms Normally this 4th stage shouldn't bring any difficulties for the GC guys so the sprinter teams may have to work alone. If they don't manage to cooperate this could be a stage for the riders in the breakaway as well. José Gonçalves got lucky having no KoM contenders in the breakaway but him. His companions, Sylwester Janiszewski, VÃctor de la Parte and Imanol Erviti didn't care too much about these points and thus it starts to look like we are about to take a second jersey home this year. But today there still was something more at stake: the stage win. The pack didn't feel like chasing early in the race, the gap grew to nearly 9 minutes. Still 7 minutes with 40 kilometers to ride and it became clear: one brave amongst these 4 escapees would win this third to last stage. Of course the four realised that too and inside the final 20 kms, several attacks and accelerations ruffled the collaboration. Our very own José Gonçalves gave it several tries, but he didn't succeed one single time. With the gap coming down quickly now, one final attack just inside the final 5 kms was decisive. Gonçalves was joined by Murias' de la Parte and together they would decide this stage by means of a sprint-à -deux. De la Parte was sitting in second position and tried to launch early, but Gonçalves stuck to his wheel immediately and soon after launched his final himself! Could he keep this strong effort up all the way to the line? Hell yes he could! We finally bagged our first win of the season after a few unlucky outcomes! One hell of a ride, José, obrigado e parabéns! 1 | | José Gonçalves | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | 4h12'25" | 2 | | VÃctor de la Parte | Murias Taldea | s.t. | 3 | | Sylwester Janiszewski | LA Aluminios - Antarte | + 29" | 4 | | Imanol Erviti | ActiveJet Team | s.t. | 5 | | Fernando Gaviria | Movistar Team | + 1'12" | 6 | | Marco König | Direct Énergie | s.t. | 7 | | Grega Bole | Synergy Baku Cycling Project | s.t. | 8 | | Alberto Bayarri | ActiveJet Team | s.t. | 9 | | Brenton Jones | Orica-GreenEDGE | s.t. | 10 | | Peter Sagan | Tinkoff | s.t. |

Tour of Oman (2.HC) Stage 6/6, 138.8 kms The final stage will most likely only decide who wins the points and the mountain jerseys. Bilbao, currently in second and only 4 points down in the KoM standings, should grab what is his very last chance to win it. Pello made it into the breakaway and thankfully grabbed this chance the others gave him by not battling at all for the KoM points. After the mountain sprint the gap came down to 2' with 40 kms left in the race. Attacks started to occur as the break hit the final three hills. Short but sheep they were not to be underestimated. That's what Bilbao found out soon too. It was Greg Van Avermaet who seemed to be stronger than the other riders in the breakaway, way less experienced than him. As Pello pulled off a great comeback to finish in third, former Giant - Shimano rider Thomas Damuseau, now riding for Cofidis, joined Van Avermaet under the red kite. Back then time for the sprint had come. But quickly the Frenchman paid for all the chasing he had done as he did not have a dog's chance against the allrounder Van Avermaet is. Minutes behind them, Eder Chávarri played everything or nothing at the last climb. Backed up by a strong Juan Sebastian Molano, he was able to finish 3' ahead of a pack that had been racing too thoughtlessly. 1 | | Greg Van Avermaet | BMC Racing Team | 3h00'41" | 2 | | Thomas Damuseau | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | 3 | | Pello Bilbao | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | + 1'14" | 4 | | Thomas Nybo Riis | Bardiani CSF | + 1'37" | 5 | | Domen Novak | Skydive Dubai Pro Team | + 1'59" | 6 | | Vincent Jérôme | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 7 | | Geoffrey Curran | Trek - Segafredo | + 3'13" | 8 | | Ricardo Creel | Team Optum | + 3'53" | 9 | | Eder Chávarri | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 10 | | Juan Sebastian Molano | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. |

Ruta del Sol (2.1) Stage 5/6, 159.1 kms The penultimate stage probably won't shake up the GC anymore, even though it counts more climbs than the queen stage. Our only goals are to protect Guerreiro's 10th place and securing Gonçalves' KoM jersey. Attacking is supposed to be the best defense so José joined the BOTD, which did not include any dangerous riders for the mountain jersey. At the first climb it was Murias' Miguel MÃnguez who set the pace. Also in the breakaway was his former team mate Eduard Prades. Rosskopf and Lotto-Soudal's Laurens De Vreese got dropped too damn quickly. Gonçalves, who struggled to follow earlier, accelerated with the KoM sprint banner just around the corner and held on for the maximum of 10 points, which gave him sureness about winning the green mountain jersey. Afterwards the trio up front are joined by Jelle Vanendert, but their journey stranded at the bumpy roads before the short final climb. At that very climb 5 riders composed a brand new front group: Mikaël Chérel, Jesper Hansen, Francesco Gavazzi, Beñat Intxausti for our team and Jay McCarthy. The first four survived the bump and would decide the stage win battle by sprinting in the wet streets of Fuengirola. Inside the final km, the four seemed to be almost evenly matched, but Jesper Hansen and Francesco Gavazzi were going strongest. As a matter of principle, the Italian was by far the fastest guy of these four. Still it was Denmark's Jesper Hansen who won the fifth stage for the Australian team Orica-GreenEDGE, as Intxausti came home in fourth. 1 | | Jesper Hansen | Orica-GreenEDGE | 3h56'55" | 2 | | Francesco Gavazzi | Lampre-Merida | s.t. | 3 | | Mikaël Chérel | Colombia | s.t. | 4 | | Beñat Intxausti | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 5 | | Peter Sagan | Tinkoff | s.t. | 6 | | Gregor Mühlberger | Team Sky | s.t. | 7 | | Tony Gallopin | Tinkoff | s.t. | 8 | | Fernando Gaviria | Movistar Team | s.t. | 9 | | José Gonçalves | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 10 | | Adam Yates | Team Sky | s.t. |

Ruta del Sol (2.1) Stage 6/6, 95.1 kms The sixth and final stage took the riders to the flat regio near the Costa del Sol. A final stage often is a sprinters' prey, but a giveaway scenario is far from excluded. There is no doubt breakaway spots will be pricey. After a stage that certainly won't be mentioned in the annals of cycling, Joey Rosskopf tried to forget a disaster of yesterday's stage. Quickly, he gapped a breakaway group that had contained Aldo Lature earlier on. And for a very long time, it seemed like he had this one in the bag. Ultimately, the win would jump out of his very bag and move to the one of Fernando Gaviria, as he outsprinted Marco König for his 2nd win in 2019. After the stage we received the news that Ruben Guerreiro had moved up to 9th place due to a time loss suffered by Davide Formolo. 1 | | Fernando Gaviria | Movistar Team | 2h00'43" | 2 | | Marco König | Direct Énergie | s.t. | 3 | | Joey Rosskopf | Cannondale Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | | Peter Sagan | Tinkoff | s.t. | 5 | | José JoaquÃn Rojas | Movistar Team | s.t. | 6 | | Mamyr Stash | Tinkoff | s.t. | 7 | | Andrea Guardini | Team Katusha | s.t. | 8 | | Tony Gallopin | Tinkoff | s.t. | 9 | | Sylwester Janiszewski | LA Aluminios - Antarte | s.t. | 10 | | Valérien Galtier | Team Sky | s.t. |

San Ramón, Uruguay - February 28th We are more than thrilled to inform you our very own sprinter Manuel MartÃnez is the new Uruguayan champion. Earlier this day, this year's road race concluded with a heavily reduced pack entering the village of San Ramón, a small rural town situated 100 kms north of Montevideo.
MartÃnez outsprinted the others in that group and he'll be wearing the blue and white striped Uruguayan jersey for the first time. He now will be given some days off to rest up after two long flights, and then he'll be able to show the following kit. It's a common project completed by our beloved partners, France's graphic artist Médé33 and Sportful. UCI have also given their approval already for the usage of this splendid kit.
Find the full race results (the riders who finished in the top ten) below:
Uruguay National Championships Road Race 135 kms 1 | | Manuel MartÃnez | 3h26'02" | 2 | | Ricardo Guedes | s.t. | 3 | | Richard Mascaranas | s.t. | 4 | | Geovane Fernandez | s.t. | 5 | | Ignacio Maldonado | + 41" | 6 | | Matias Perez | s.t. | 7 | | Enrique Wynant | s.t. | 8 | | Camilo Pimentel | + 1'16" | 9 | | Nicolas Arachichu | s.t. | 10 | | Diego Gonzalez | s.t. |

Always nice to wear a special jersey indeed too bad I only found fitting stages afterwards, I could've raced for the jersey instead of having to use an editor.
