for kicks i tried to add up the cqranking points sean kelly would have for 1986
i gave up before adding leaders jerseys and points classifications. theres a few thousands points in them but it would take time to research and it was past 4200 points already
lets say the modern times.

how so? considering I wouldn't have put him on my shortlist for riders for the worlds and him having no pro win since he started in 2008 (which is an langkawi stage), tragic wouldn't be the first word that comes to mind.
Because when someone wins by accident, it sucks, i agree with Riis.
Btw how do you enjoy the 2nd title for your "favourite" rider?
Accident? It's not like 30 guys crashed in front of him and he went and took the title.
I was half-joking.
I know it is impressive to even be in that group, but i am no fan of outsider won, lets all cheer mentality, never was. I like when strongest rider wins.
So you must be devastated, that only the 2nd best won.
I am not sure what do you mean by that.
isn't it obvious, Danny Pate was the best

Wiggins 2012 season is such an odd highlight episode. No other cyclists has been such a one-hit wonder. Sorry that I come back with the TUE but god damn it, it's so obvious

It was ridiculous, but lets not forget everything fell into place for Wiggo that year:
Huge decline by especially Evans (but also Sami, Frank S and Menchov from that generation), no Contador and Schleck, EXTREMELY TT-biased courses etc. His 2012-season was more than just meant to be.
Lets look at who he beat in those 4 stage races he won:
P-N - Westra
Romandie - Talansky
Dauphine - Rogers (teammate)
Tour - Froome (teammate)
Enough said. |

thanks
but realize that is only useful for recent years
for older seasons they dont have results for small or medium sized races and even the big races usually only have top 3 or only the winner. so cyclists of seasons have a lot more points just by accumulated placings that the older ones dont have
even jalabert in 7th would be 3rd or so if all the results were there |

Yeah, but look at this detail overview, it is like someone changed his legs for 2012.

For a comparsion, two mister consistents and imo best riders of last 15 years together with Boonen.

I'm sure he regrets it now but this amused me. If I was riding for the Belgian's nothing is going to inspire me to sandbag more than a bidon squirted in my face

Didn't have the time to watch it but it looks like a good race.
Good win by Sagan and also happy for Tommeke getting bronze though from what I read they(Belgians) should have been more attacking.
Shame about Gavirias crash
And at least Kittel failed again
Though a completely flat race like this should never be WC,at least echelons saved it this time. |

Without a doubt. Just wanted to give some perspective to why a season like that could materialise they way it did. |
