Tour of Oman (2.HC) Stage 2, 151.8 kms The outcome of the second stage depends on whether the big guns are going to take it easy in the finale with the queen stage at Jebel Akhdar just around the corner. A breakaway or a last-minute attack may last. Immediately after the first of two intermediate sprints, our Giro stage winner Pello Bilbao attacked, and he was joined by An Post's Frederik Frison and Whirlpool's Magnus Faglum, both with an blank palmarès. Both of them struggled when Bilbao paced at the first climb. Faglum's cooked quickly, but Frison doesn't surrender until the last climb. Back then Pello had about a minute thanks to a short moment of hesitation in the pack. But Tinkoff's train for Bryan Coquard was closing in fast. And it all ended with heartbreak as Bilbao was grabbed at the collar with the finish line within reach. Coquard won the stage and the KoM jersey was nothing but a consolation prize for a disappointed Bilbao. 1 | | Bryan Coquard | Tinkoff | 3h11'37" | 2 | | Julian Alaphilippe | Tinkoff | s.t. | 3 | | Pello Bilbao | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 4 | | Tim Wellens | Tinkoff | s.t. | 5 | | Diego Ochoa | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 6 | | Nacer Bouhanni | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 7 | | Ian Stannard | Etixx - Quick-step | s.t. | 8 | | Vadim Galeyev | Team Optum | s.t. | 9 | | Arnaud Courteille | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 10 | | Sonny Colbrelli | Orica-GreenEDGE | s.t. |

Tour of Oman (2.HC) Stage 3, 193.9 kms The third and longest stage for this year takes us to Wadi Dayqah Dam, where both punchers and prisoners can strike where they flourish best. Today's breakaway was formed by the Italian Simion, the Belgian Bille and the Swede Faglum. Luckily for us Simion won the KoM sprint at a steep hill to keep Faglum from taking Bilbao's white mountain jersey.
Once all participants of the break of the day had been chased back, our team would exit the forefront as our sprint train didn't stand a chance. Sonny Colbrelli time his sprint perfectly and better than green jersey Bouhanni and overall leader Coquard as he won the stage for Orica. 1 | | Sonny Colbrelli | Orica-GreenEDGE | 4h15'28" | 2 | | Nacer Bouhanni | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 3 | | Bryan Coquard | Tinkoff | s.t. | 4 | | Jasper Stuyven | Lotto Soudal | s.t. | 5 | | Romain Bardet | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | | Jens Keukeleire | Etixx - Quick-step | s.t. | 7 | | Tim Wellens | Tinkoff | s.t. | 8 | | Gerry Druyts | Etixx - Quick-step | s.t. | 9 | | Lorenzo Manzin | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | 10 | | Daniel Oss | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. |

Ruta del Sol (2.1) Stage 2, 182.6 kms The first full stage and a lot of climbing was awaiting the pack already. Most probably Angel Cerezo would lose his spot in the top 10 but our goal was to have our team leader Ruben Guerreiro up there tonight. José Gonçalves was the first attacker who created a gap, but nobody was eager to join him yet. That way he was able to collect a maximum of thirteen important polka dot points at the first two mountain sprints. Afterswards he was joined by Joey Rosskopf and Argentina's climber Juan Nicolás MartÃnez Madrigal. None of them could beat Gonçalves at the wringing wet 3rd mountain sprint though, 3 more points bagged. Bad luck for French champion Thibaut Pinot as he hit the tarmac in a slippery descent. Luckily he could count on the former world champion Alejandro Valverde himself to guide him towards the tail of peloton. With two KoM sprints left, the pack allowed a counterattack. Among the attackers were the Frenchmen Rudy Molard and Mickaël Chérel. In the picture the gap is next to nonexistent, but they do not give up yet. Eventually Gonçalves managed to collect some more points at the last two sprints, but then he had to surrender. Molard was alone with two climbs left and had a gap of 1'30". Guerreiro was in the chasing group. But then he collected a water bottle right when the chasing group split, leaving him with other dropped riders. He bridged to the chasing group but one could wonder how that effort would affect the force in his legs. Hill specialist Valérien Galtier and Peter Sagan reeled in VÃctor Hugo Merino, who had attacked earlier. The Panamanian had to resign fast and the other two seemed to battle for the win. Sagan attacked first... ... but eventually Bart de Clercq took them both by surprise and won. Guerreiro paid for his earlier efforts, finished in eleventh, also his new position in the GC, 1'54" down on Peter Sagan, the new overall leader. 1 | | Bart De Clercq | Lotto Soudal | 4h44'51" | 2 | | Peter Sagan | Tinkoff | + 14" | 3 | | Valérien Galtier | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | | Adam Yates | Team Sky | s.t. | 5 | | Alejandro Valverde | Team Sky | + 43" | 6 | | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | s.t. | 7 | | VÃctor Hugo Merino | Tinkoff | s.t. | 8 | | Wout Poels | Team Sky | + 1'13" | 9 | | Thibaut Pinot | Team Sky | + 1'32" | 10 | | Quentin Pacher | Direct Énergie | s.t. |

He certainly is, but I doubt he'll be able to keep up at Green Mountain. Luckily we brought some other good climbers as well

Tour of Oman (2.HC) Stage 4/6, 137 kms We tackled the traditional queen stage at Green Mountain with two guys in the top 10 who we didn't expect to be able to hold on to their place. Tinkoff tried to rip the pack apart by setting a very high pace and thus the breakaway didn't stand a chance. Battle of the GC guys incoming... Soon it became clear that one would need great legs to keep Bardet or Dombrowski from winning. Inside the last 5 kilometers, only Tinkoff had their leader, Julian Alaphilippe, close to the strong duo out front. Inside the final two kilometers, Dombrowski had managed to leave Bardet behind, and he had already bean joined by Alaphilippe. Time would tell if they could work something out by simply working together. The final answer was no, as Joe Dombrowski secured an amazing win for UnitedHealthcare. Alaphilippe beat Bardet for second as our team had a complete off-day. Top finisher was Sam Vandenborre in 16th. 1 | | Joseph Dombrowski | UnitedHealthcare Pro Team | 3h06'35" | 2 | | Julian Alaphilippe | Tinkoff | + 1'04" | 3 | | Romain Bardet | AG2R La Mondiale | + 1'28" | 4 | | Danilo Ghilardi | IAM Cycling | + 1'42" | 5 | | Mathias Frank | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 6 | | Louis Meintjes | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 7 | | Rafał Majka | Tinkoff | + 2'35" | 8 | | Mathieu van der Poel | Team Dimension Data | + 3'09" | 9 | | Jakob Fuglsang | Orica-GreenEDGE | + 3'34" | 10 | | Ilnur Zakarin | Tinkoff | + 4'14" |

Ruta del Sol (2.1) Stage 3/6, 191.7 kms Being halfway the race after this stage, this may be a very last chance to strike for the general classification already. Failing today means it'll be almost impossible to improve your position in the overall standings. Our day didn't start to good with 2 contenders for the KoM jersey in the breakaway and a crash for team leader Ruben Guerreiro, who went down with Thibaut Pinot. But they both caught up with the pack fast. After an extremely boring stage suddenly the pack was unchained. Big racing until the foot of the final climb, where we all saw Adam Yates attack immediately. Most probably, this early move decided both the stage and the battle for the GC win. Guerreiro had to seek a pace that he could maintain and didn't manage to finish higher than in 16th place. 1 | | Adam Yates | Team Sky | 4h31'11" | 2 | | Davide Formolo | Tinkoff | + 1'24" | 3 | | Valérien Galtier | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | | Peter Sagan | Tinkoff | s.t. | 5 | | Alberto Contador | Movistar Team | s.t. | 6 | | Robert Power | Lotto Soudal | s.t. | 7 | | VÃctor Hugo Merino | Tinkoff | s.t. | 8 | | Bart De Clercq | Lotto Soudal | + 2'14" | 9 | | Fernando Orjuela | Murias Taldea | + 2'52" | 10 | | Kevin Ledanois | Team Katusha | s.t. |
