Bahrain is trying to poach every availlable name from the World Teams to guarantee WT license
I personally think they were already guaranteed a WT licsence as the UCI wants Bahrain and the money that comes with it, the UCI will either dump Di Data or change their mind and run with 18 WT teams next season instead of the planned 17.
Anton also rumoured to join Bahrain as well (he has the same agent as Izagirre) which will be final nail in the WT coffin for DDD
DiData already got their license couple weeks ago when they gave Oli Cookson a job
Oli Cookson has been on staff with Di Data since February but your point still stands, this is why I think it's still a chance they go with 18 teams next season and cut it down to 16 for 2018.

Yeah Anton has no WT points from what I can gather and I really doubt DD would care if he moved on based purely on a performance, he might be a semi useful Dom for Nibali but that's about all he has to offer these days. It's a pity as he was once an entertaining rider to watch.

Good transfer. Zoidl seems to be on his way out, and Brändle is another austrian on the team. I always see tons of trek bikes here in Autriche, so it's a viable market (without knowing the market share). Maybe Gogl turn into a top contender, something that Zoidl never came close to.

Not sure if he is even a worthwhile domestique since he couldn't be bothered at Movistar. He should just go to a pro continental team and ride lesser mountain races for good results. He's one of my favourite riders but the consistent lack of results and anonymity really hurts his rep imo, and he's sorta turning into the Goss of Spain.

well according to radsportnews.com the Izagirre deal isn't done yet...especially cause his contract is still running until 2017 it shouldn't be that easy for them to sign him in my opinion...especially because Movistar shouldn't just let him go for free with his running contract - I expect that there might be a transfer, but more like the Cavendish one which means that Movistar will get cash for letting him go
another indicator for that is an interview with Jasha Sütterlin, who said that Movistar will ride for Izagirre at the Eneco Tour...if I remember correctly teams don't really like to do that when the rider is leaving - and Sütterlin is very well placed in the GC currently...
also Jon Ander Insausti is not confirmed yet...

This has probably more to do with Movistar wanting to win the WT ranking (as every year) and Izagirre being the prime GC rider in Eneco Tour, a race where they really do not have that any other options at all. And yeah, Movistar will definitely be compensated for breach of contract. Bahrain-Merida don't care about some extra fee.

If we assume that Ion Izaguirre is going to Bahrain-Merida, what good riders are still without contract for next season, that could be a good option for Movistar? And Spanish riders?

Maybe Pello Bilbao but he is also rumoured to join Astana afair. Is Henao already confirmed? He could be a target.

Well according to this site baby Nibali, Pellizoti, Tosatto and Lagutin are also linked to join the Bahrain - Merida project.

What's up with Montaguti? Any rumors? Could be a really good 5th or 6th guy on a mountain train for a team like Astana or Movistar. |

Most likely not Movistar, but I could see him go to Bahrain, they need mountain domestiques. Astana is a good shout also |

Why noy Mr. Movistar? Seems like a good fit if they want to keep their identity, plus they have not signed anyone to compensate the loss of Visconti and Izagirre as far as I know. |

Considering he's Italian he'll most likely join Bahrain than Spanish team

While Visconti is a good rider he wasn't the greatest Dom, he's more of a stage hunter which Movistar have plenty of riders who can do that, Izagirre is a big loss but they do have some riders already on the squad who could take that next step.

Yes, and Montaguti is nowhere near the level of Izagirre. They need a top class racer to compensate for him. I don't think that's possible anymore, except for possible Henao if they go deep.

Because Montaguti simply isn't that good of a rider and is relatively old. And then he is Italian which makes it natural for him to go to Bahrain/Astana |

Yeah, but they just signed Bennati and still have Malori, and for last few seasons had Visconti, Bruseghin was also there for few seasons and didn't they had some other Italian dude even before that? So, what I'm saying is that there's always been some Italian flavor to Movistar. And no, I'm not saying that he is on level of Izagirre, but if they lose two climbers, replacemrnt is needed. |

And considering the average age of the riders in Bahrain it'll be no surprise if he joins there.

Phinney casually signs for Garmin amid all the other news and scandals going on.
I have to admit, I really didn't see him leaving BMC.
