For most of the peloton it's only a handful of years at the top at best. And for most of them it's hardly a stellar wage anyway. Trying to get a bit more security is entirely understandable when given the chance. It's nothing new in cycling as riders have chased money for decades. So does most of the human race. And that's way philosophical and slightly off-topic.

Whilst we're at it surely we should be villifying everone attending the Worlds this year. I mean Qatar has a shoddy, at best, record on human rights and slavery. Everyone turning up is supporting the attempts to generate positive PR for the country and make everyone forget. right?
Well I've already stated that I don't like the Qatar worlds which is one of the reasons I have no interest in the Worlds this season.
I understand that athletes want to earn money but surely this is a case where a person can stand up and say no isn't it? Also why is it that people say they only have a small time at the top level to earn money, are they such a special breed that they ant get jobs after there time in sport is over? I've had several different jobs in my lifetime so I don't see why an athlete is any different.

Could just be Konig being Konig and saying he wants this and that while the reality will be different, he's a confident rider which is what you want in a team leader but I've got my money on Majka leading at the Tour and Konig at the Giro.

Konig is a bitchass and is probably the worst domestique I have ever seen. Did absolutely zero for Froome this Vuelta despite getting a huge check. It is unfortunate since they probably both will do the Tour which will leave Sagan with a few less helpers.
If some of them won't do the Tour, its going to be Konig. Majka won't skip, he would really like to ride the GC there. |

To focus on the actual riders the Bahrain team have brought in for next season, i have to be honest and say, i don't really see a red line in what they are trying to achieve with this squad. They have a whole lot of semi fast punchers/sprinters almost no climbers for Nibali, how on earth are they going to make that work well in the races, when they are more or less starting with 5-6 guys who could top 10 on punchy stages.
So far this is a mess of a team. Almost no Good domestiques, just a whole lot of semi winners/winners. |

What they've done it buy themselves comfortably into the WT. It's also a bored playboy team, so don't worry about a plan as it'll probably fold in 2-3 years

You are probably right, but if they don't get some solid domestiques, i'm afraid the "good" Prince of Bahrain is going to be very dissapointed with their performance. |

Well it`s not good but also not as bad as you say.
Nibali will have decent support in the likes of Visconti, Siutsou, Grmay, Agnoli.
I guess many of those will ride with Nibali in the main events.
Then it`s Boaro, Colbrelli, Bonifazio, Gasparotto, Navardauskas and also Visconti, who can still go for their own chances in several races.
And it`s only about 15 riders confirmed yet. When they add 5-10 more than solid domestiques, then they could still climb the "rankings" a lot. |

I still think it's hard to see where Nibali is going to get those 3-4 riders to the team, that can make a difference in the Giro. But guess we will see in a few weeks. |

That is not decent so far, that is pure shite. Ian Stannard could drop them all.

I think it is stupid plan. Team has possibly as Giro top3-5 contender. Tour top 4-8 contender. And Bora focusing both GT as GC races?
This will look like another Mollema ride at tour..nothing to celebrate. Majka should go after another polka-dot.
König?..what ever he thinks he can do.
..and Sagan will do the rest of the show.

I really hope so..this guy is one and only good signing that Lampre had made over last decade.
What Nibbles anyway planning for next season? |

I don't think the Chineese will build the team around him - IMO they are waiting the contracts of big names to expire by 2017. From the big names Valverde is out of contract after 2017 and he could be tempted with big wage by the Chineese, but IMO he will remain loyal to Unzue. Most of Etixx riders also have contracts until 2017 (Kittel, Jungels and Dan Martin for example) - they could be also tempted by the TJ payroll

Valverde will never leave Movistar. He's left millions on the table for the team before. Plus a contract extension will be announced in the coming days/weeks.
BMC is stopping after next season unless a big new company comes in. Guess there the new rich can look in the future.
