I doubt we will see him challenge for a GT win again
At least he decided the winner.Quintana and his fans should be grateful to The Great One.

Don't worry as he'll come back with plenty of excuses defending Froome and explaining again to us as to why it's impossible for Quintana to ever beat Froome in a GT

Froome loses 2min 37s to Quintana. Plus 54s he already has. Now we wait for TT.

Plus Quintana's 2nd place bonus

This whole stage smells like Contador, though.
Didn't see a second of it, just got home. But what I've heard is a big break early in the race including Contador and Quintana.
Most likely Bertie's tactic, Quintana just smart enough to follow. Froome only noticing after half an hour when he took a break from stemming?

Well... I predicted Froome to crash and Quintana to get ill, so Chaves would win the Vuelta... Froome cracking is a good start.

What a champion! Grin

It was honestly quite pathetic to watch Contador get overtaken by those kinda riders. Sad.

Chaves and Scarponi both did quite good in the end.

1º Quintana
2º Froome 3'36
3º Chaves 3'57
4º Contador 4'06

Great fight for 2º and 3º

Unless Quintana suffers a mechanical in the TT or crashes then Froome won't make that time back up on him in that time trial

We said it back in 2013 as well, so lets just wait and see.

Whaaat? Never chellange for a GT again? He is clearly missing strength and stamina and won't win Vuelta but this can be down to the crash in Tour and training missing. To say that he will never challenge a GT again is just strange, especially after a hard day in the saddle where he showed his qualities..

When you look at the spring campaign, you know how strong he still is, and today showed that nobody understands GT racing like he does, nobody! It's actually funny to read such a thing after such a stage where he did great all day long and which is still a great day in his illustrous career. I can understand it when you say such a funeral note when he did nothing and got trashed, but today?? He orchestraded the moves and the BOTD, and just missed the power in the last two kilometers.

It's obvious that the Sky team was poisened by ignorant quintana fanboys and jealous contador fanboys. off course they have to resort to cheating to beat Froome, they've obviously done so in the past

how was that for an impression?

I'm not a fan of his but let's hope he hasn't let hubris get the better of him by racing in next season, he really should target the Giro and drop any delusions about the Tour

Brambilla might be the most "I didn't know he had this in him!?" rider. Grin

Awesome stage.

Vuelta/Giro both memorable races this year for me - Movistar big round of applause there masterfully dismantling the Skyborgs. Turned Quintana's obvious slight climbing advantage over Froome into race winning lead - brilliant work and spectacular.

Contador fading in finale was a shame but guy has shown champion like battle.

Just shows Froome is now suffering and not as good as he was in 1st week. Normally he can finish fast. Maybe 3rd week is not for him

How come? Just because he got beaten today by someone who didnt work one single bit earlier on the stage doesnt make him a worse rider than them.

Dont really see the logic here really.
