rumours say that Lotto-NL want to sign RondeU23 winner David Per of slovenian CT team Adria Mobil...in my opinion that would be a year or two too early...

Sagan and Majka in one team, what a mix. One rider can't get enough of attacking and taking initiative and is superstar of cycling. And the other one is Majka, enough said. But very good signing for Bora. Maybe now Majka won't be forced to do the Giro anymore?

I think Majka will do his "normal" calendar. Going for top5 in Giro, or even podium, depending of the rivals, and in Tour, go for KOM and a stage

Another bad, bad day for german cycling and its fans. Revolting.

Anyhow: Beppu and Stetina extended their contracts with
Trek Retirement Home until 2018.

And Tim Declercq leaves Topsport and moves to Etixx.

Gianni Meersman confirmed at Fortuneto. Didn't expect that!

Definitely not after those 2 Vuelta stage wins. Could've been more if he waited two more weeks, I think he signed too fast there.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Fortuneo out of all teams? This could be an interesting move, but why would Meersman choose PCT team when he could have joined another WT team or just stay at Etixx?

Maybe none of the WT teams offered him the role of top sprinter and they did, or with them being French it was the only way he would get into le Tour with WT teams wanting to send him to the Giro or Vuelta instead.

On top of that, the rumour had existed for a long time already. Maybe a deal was made already a little while back and they both thought this was a good moment to announce it: rest day of Vuelta, after two stage wins.

They won't either, McLay is faster. Meersman is good for surviving hills and mountains, then winning from a reduced group. Or, as we have here, just a very poor field to begin with.

I think he just wanted to be safe and avoid the risk of negociating for a better deal. After all, if you look at the list of forced retirements in Belgium last year: Leukemans, Vandewalle, De Greef, Seeldraeyers and a few others did not find a team, while they still are quality riders (but yes, Meersman is definitely better than them).

It's bad because, and this is totally my persoanl bias, Majka is as sympathic as a pile of rubble and equally as good as a GT contender.

Recently I read something, can't remember where and who wrote it, saying that even back in the Telekom heydays Germany has not been a cycling nation but rather an Ulrich nation. I think that's true. So if you wanna promote cycling in germany and postion yourself as "the only german pro cycling team" then you can't go an hire a squad full of non germans. I mean you can but just wait and see how much support you'll get. I tell you the few Germans you'll see on the side of a race cheering will be wearing Etixx or Trek jerseys.

If Bora and HansGrohe are expanding into the eastern europian marktet than I've said nothing. But Specialized apparently wanted to strengthen their brand image in Germany so...I prolly just don't understand marketing.

Oh and Katusha...horribly bad image. And a deserved bad image. They worked hard to obtain it after all. Tony Martin never would've gotten a multi million sponsoring deal with Merceds or VW to begin with but I tell you his popularity went through the floor with that move.

You are expecting from WorldTour teams to sign riders only of their nationality? That mentallity is valid for an smaller team from pro-Continental or Continental ranks, but not for an WorldTour team. The last WT team with that mentality was Euskaltel and that policy almost cost them the license before their eventual folding. Even hardcore "nationalists" like FDJ don't sign only French riders and even Dimension Data had to sign more non-African riders

I don't think he signed on to quickly? Even with the Vuelta stage wins I doubt it would raise his price or change WT teams opinions on him considering the field he's racing against. He's a good sprinter but at what WT team would he get leadership? He will get plenty of opportunities to ride for himself at Fortuneo with only McLay being a legitimate fast man at the team.

So there will be 18 World Tour teams next year then with Bora and Bahrain taking the vacated slots from Tinkoff and IAM - the status quo remains

I don't know I definitely don't have the feeling he would have ended up at no less than Fortuneo, as far as I'm aware before this Vuelta he wasn't performing as well as he used to 2-3 years ago, which is certainly part of the reason why he slipped down to pct.
