I think Riis meant his crash sucked, not the fact that Kruijswijk focuses or should focus on the Giro.

Team management of Kruijswijk saying even compensation from the organisation wouldn't do (duh, and they won't do it anyway) because they "came here to win".
That's a good one, though
Either way, bad luck for Kruijswijk, an exciting rider to watch. |

lol the team is in way over their heads. Watch any interview with Kruijswijk during the Giro. He says the same thing over and over again: how he is so good in this Giro because the route really suits him. How the long Italian climbs are what he excels. How he is a diesel that has trouble if it's explosive but can shine during the Giro because it requires endurance over tens of kilometres in the mountain stages. Long efforts over 50 kms. He knows himself that the Giro was his once in a lifetime opportunity.
Being great on a climb of 20 kms doesn't mean you're just as good on a 8 km climb. Kruiswijk together with Quintana are main examples of this. And guys like this are also those who are best at recovery because climbing kilometres add up on your engine during a GT. It's why the Vuelta suits them less cause it's not backloaded like the other two.
Anyone who thought he could win this Vuelta should be put on meds.
Still a shame he crashed ofc.
All his great performances have come in stages with long efforts (climbs of over 45 Minutes or full on racing from multiple climbs out). Vuelta doesn't have these.

Not too sure because Movistar is running out of domestiques and no one else will try to catch him.

Rolf Sørensen on danish tv: Valverde managed to lose again, or his team, it is incomprehensible.
Incredibly so bad tactically they are on this team! Do they have a tactic? Looks like it not, looks like they just sits on wheels and hope it goes well. |

Very good stage, managed to catch the last 40 kms.
Moreno isn'r what he used to be so weird he got the call today, but Valverde must have told him to. |

I liked how Yates outpaced Dani Moreno with that attack, though was sad to see Frank losing the stage in the end. That's cycling I guess.
There's a small climb tomorrow some 15 km. from the line but honestly, considering how the race is developing, I don't think we're going to see any movement from the favourites.
Really excited for saturday's stage though arriving at La Camperona. Valverde, Quintana & company will finally run out of excuses to try for luck. |

It is awful..like movie banned fantasy movie helmet that did not made it into big screen.
About Kruiswjik and Vuelta climbs..this is not all around Vuelta Valverde type speed pumps..there is actually quite long climbs ahead.
I am still also waiting Riis123 7-8 sprinter stages.. i do not have seen one yet. |

Tomorrow is a pretty similar stage, its easier in the final tho. Could be a reduced sprint, Meersman should be the favourite, but more of this high intensity pace making from the bunch and it could prove to be a very interesting stage.
4 MTFs/hilltops in a row now afterwards. Clearly overkill, but whatever. |

Simon Yates - Obviously after his ban he's been peaking for this race and his form shows through recently with his first pro win in the Ordiziako Klasika (1st), Clasica San Sebastian (7th and responded to lots of attacks, maybe too many) and Burgos (4th). Will be very very useful as a lieutenant and sneaky suspicion he'll do well individually too.
Nice comeback win for Yatesy - obviously the ban was a bit of a setback but he's still strong. Chaves keeping quiet and doing well - hope he has the legs over the coming insane days.
And yes, I'm following closely, but can't comment much atm.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
