Great win and report Ian! Louis with an awesome 6th too - great race for the Listerijn boys! Milan 2nd in UCI rankings
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Not sure when I will write Kwaremont.
I'd say the chance of writing it by date 'x' is:
today: 5%
tomorrow: 50%
Tuesday: 50% (no added chance for Tuesday.)
Wednesday: 80%
So report most likely within a few days! |

Oh Shonak, how I've missed you and your wonderful pieces, given Louis and Milan something to react to in every one Milan to BKCP, there's a scary thought...

Not so emotional as his first victory here but lovely as always. Kwaremont is a very special race for Francis. Guido also with a strong performance, wonder if one day he can get podium or a win here.
Next up world cup finale against Goldenberg. Excited!

Ahh, guess Milan was tired from Ansbach. Hope he can recover quickly.

Got some problems connecting to the internet on my Ubuntu laptop last 2 days.
So I'll probably do the report close to the preview since I've wanted to post the preview for 2 days now.
Hopefully the report somewhere this weekend! |

It is with great sadness that I announce there will not be a next season of Cyclo-Cross: A New Dawn.
CX:AND has been an amazing adventure and one hell of a ride. I've progressed in my writing and you have all helped to bring this fantasy world to live. The characters in them felt real at times and I've grown very fond of all of it. It is for this reason I have to end it after the current season.
I feel I cannot carry the game for another full season. To see the game end somewhere in the middle of the season, clouded in obscurity, I would not like to see that. Nor would I like to see it die a slow death because I cannot keep up anymore.
I feel especially sad for those who were eager to join the game for next season, definitely since I sensed great potential in it. I'd love to keep the game going for the players, old and new. But it's not enough to keep it going, unfortunately.
I will finish this season steadily. After which, there will be a final - special - Game Thread post to conclude the game. After 3 seasons, countless reports and a lot of fun, I'd love to end the game in style.
Hope you all understand.

Wow Thanks a lot for the fun and beautiful writing Ian, and of course all the other players. Will make a better farewell post later

This has been a special game to the site, one that I always loved to be part of and that i enjoyed thoroughly. That the third season will be concluced and the game gets a fiting end, is something that is really important I think. I'll surely make a farewell post for my characters too.
That the game is nearing its conclusion doesn't surprise anyone I guess, we have had a great run but it surely is better to make a call to it when it's right, than to try to keep it running at any cost... Maybe there will be something somewhen to replace it?
Thank you very much for CX and the joy and fun that came alongside it. Of course also a big thanks to all the other (former) players involved who have kept this game so intruiging.

Oddly the internet troubles on my Ubuntu laptop persist, so I've ran the program and managed to open the results on another computer and written the report
I just couldn't get the lining right for the tables. Hopefully the internet on my other laptop will work again one of these days and I can correct it into the usual format |

Only just saw this post, really sad to see this game end, it was really great with so many contributing players and amazing quality of posts and reports. Thanks a lot for the game Ian, even if I had trouble posting all the time it was always great to see a new post and a lot of fun to have on the site.
I'll definitely make sure there's a farewell post from Sylvain and Pierre.
Great report btw!

Indeed didn't see that this would mean Milan's best rival in Sylvain has rode his last (well, no but you know what I mean)
Great report as ever Ian, Milan didn't have the legs or the guts to give Mazza a big middle finger today - guess he's much too nice

yippie, francis did it. Nice for him to go out with a the big bang, although I wouldn't have mind Goldie with the World Cup win for TMMs long involvement. Another great report, thanks!

Cheers guys.
And so we come closer to the end.
2 classics remain and the final report.
I'll write them up when I can. Probably won't do previews especially since they're classics and have been previewed last 2 seasons Hoping to solve computer problem soon, too. Though that means I'll have to open the computer and not doing that a lot lately |

With the above report, I finish what once started as an ambitious role-playing game over a year and a half ago. It's been an amazing adventure and a lot of fun, and I'm happy to finish it this way, after three great seasons.
I want to thank everyone who participated, everyone who followed or read the occasional report.
Thanks to Shonak for your eternal involvement and creating characters that've come to life for me.
Thanks jandal7 for your enthusiasm and your optimism during the course of the game!
Thanks TheManxMissile for your great insights and colorful characters, despite your non-interest in cyclo-cross.
Thanks Smowz for Cook. Enough said.
Thanks trekbmc and Matt17br for trying to keep playing even though it was sometimes hard to, and coming back after some absences and keep following.
Of course, thanks to the others who were playing or played, sammy, selwink, SportningNonsense, Scorchio and all the others.
My apologies to LWThrax and DiCyc, who were both looking forward to joining the game for the next season. I'm sure you would've both made a great addition to the game.
We've made this into a wonderful little game and the Game Thread is a testament to that. 55 pages of pure quality. we couldn've have made it so far without all the wonderful contributions.
So now the dawn breaks. Good bye to all. I'm glad you were here to enjoy this with me. It's been a great part of my life for a good year and a half.
Bye! |

Wow what a great final chapter in this astonishing, book-ish thread. Truly a piece to last, right here on daily and it's great to have gotten Pyeonchang at last. Cyclo-Cross' bid for the Olympics was sort of the background story of this entire game if you read between the lines, so it's wonderful to see it come to and. Just as the summer olympics come to an end (just chance? I doubt it )
Gratz to sammy on olympic gold, Vague doesn't need to win everything (although I understood that he took it 4 years later regardless.. you are too nice to him Ian )
Once more thanks a lot, thank you for a fantastic, so well-written game that is far more an interactive novel in its strongest moments. Looks like a season wrap up by Francis, Sven and Guido is a must.

Thanks Shonak for the kind words
I had the feeling I needed to reach the Olympics, because it was the background of the game, as you said. When I realized the fourth season wouldn't come, the Olympic season, I thought of this ending
Gratz to sammy on olympic gold, Vague doesn't need to win everything (although I understood that he took it 4 years later regardless.. you are too nice to him Ian )
Well, that's probable. However, I see one or two other scenarios with a smiling Vague at the Olympics without winning Gold. What it exactly is, I leave up to you |

Just catching the most recent announcments - sorry to see this come to an end. Great effort throughout by IB - lots of quality content which reflect what must have been a serious time commitment to maintain quality and quantity across the seasons. Hope you are able to put the time frred up to good use!
