On the other hand to this though (as we keep saying how bad it is for Bora) it's a great move for Sagan he gets basically a team for himself can bring in any rider he wants with him and probably some back room staff as well its a real win win for Sagan and very much a deserved one given his great last 12 months and the start to the career he has had. |

Not really sure why its shortsighted Saga's like 26 its not like he is a 32 year old guy who's on the edge ending his career.

It's shortsighted, if he's the only big point source for that team.

Big one maybe (we still dont know if anyone else is joining), but not only one who can score points. That tam has bunch of guys who can ride the bike in WT, including nice talents.
You have to start somewhere, so why not start with a bang?

Interesting, I assume this means that Allaphilippe isnt going to be the main Puncheur for Etixx next year then. Or is he better than Gilbert?

Except on the Cauberg, he's better. |

I wonder what mr. etixx himself Paul thinks of this stupid move by team. Still don't get why Lefevere is so fucking stubborn and doesn't sign any aditional climbers but just overcrowds team with cobblers and punchers. Just fucking look at that ardennes squad: Martin, Jalla, Phil, Brambilla, Vakoc, Devenyns, Jungels, etc. |

Yup, that's exactly what Etixx needed. Another guy to want Ardennes leadership.

Is Gilbert really a leader these days? He's won one Ardennes/one day classic race since 2011 and has barely managed the top 10 in the past couple of seasons. |

I like Phil and I will look forward seeing him in the etixx colors, but this move is just plain stupid. I mean, it could all end up like their cobble campaign does almost every year. Too many good riders at etixx leads to nobody helping etixx. They should sign some more climbers, indeed. They have a world class cobble squad, a world class sprinter duo in Kittel and Gaviria, an Ardennes-Army and....Jungels(!) for the GC? He can get Top10s, maybe even a Top5, if everything goes well for him, but they should've signed Nibali or some other climber. With Brambilla and Jungels, they would even have a support for him.

Allegedly Sagan comes also with some mechanics and additional staff.
So Bora adds a team to the team. I ain't no studied psychologist but I could imagine that this might lead to some dissonance.
Also I read somewhere that Bora will let Dominik Nerz go.
He didn't deliver, yes. But he was/is like the only german GC rider.
GC rider on a whole different level than the so called big four, (tho I always think of Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth and that other totally overrated band that only had 1 decent record). But still.
On Etixx.
Their problem is that the contracts with sponsors run out next year. Omega Pharma, Quick-Step and Lidl all end 2017. So this far Lefevere only offered 1 year contracts. I quess that hampers negotiations with riders. |

Im sorry but I thought that GVA would leave bmc and not gilbert? Did they decide, "well however finishes higher in the olympic road race, well keep him?"

Gilbert and BMC announced at the start of June that he would be riding for another team next season.

I doubt Nibali or any top climbers would want a 1 year contract which is what all new signings and contract extentions have been getting.

Guess the Yates brothers made the right call to resign with Orica?
