In the press statement Martin states, that there will be interesting changes in the background of the team and that the team will be more international. Hint for Alpecin being the new co-sponsor?
that's not only a hint but already been confirmed...

Bora were not interested in him - they were only interested in the SAGAN name and likeness and nothing else. That's why Majka won't be here and it's more likely König to stay in Sky (thanks to the bigger paycheck).
Etixx perhaps are looking into different direction with much younger roster in which perhaps Tony Martin has no place.
Sunweb - Giant was more appropriate place for him, but they have TT rider in Dumolin
It could've been worse - Bahrain
First up Konig is leaving Sky, even if he doesn't end up back at Bora he will end up at a team other than Sky next season.
Martin wanted out of Etixx as he was feeling stale and in reality was never going to be anymore than a domestique at the team now that his TT is on the wane but I'm pretty sure Etixx still wanted to keep him. Katusha makes sense as they don't have the depth at the team ans with Alpecin coming on board then they needed a German who has a profile.
As to Bora and Sagan I couldn't agree with you more, he's simply getting paid far to much and has monoplized the budget of the team and he's calling the shots from all available information. I get Sagan's value but he just doesn't need to be getting paid so much money, it's pretty sad actually. Bora better hope his luck doesn't run out and he gets injured because they don't have much in the way of a backup plan.

Bora have put all their money on Sagan and haven't signed other major riders as backup. Sure, they've signed bunch of Tinkoff riders, but they are just Sagan's lackeys that have been part of the deal to begin with. Bora is looking more on the marketing value that is Sagan.

The GIF was just a reaction to that part about the luck, like Sagans victories have something to do with luck - he was rather unlucky during last seasons, not lucky...
Sagan is not just marketing value, he also brings important victories and points, sometimes like few other riders combined.
But i agree Bora could use few more good riders, as a future WT team, we will see if anybody else comes up, you need to start somewhere and maybe they will build the great squad in the next few seasons...
Also i dont think guys like Barta, Huszarski, Thwaites, Buchmann or Benett + Kolář, Baška and few others are bad. There are worse WT teams, like Cannondale...

Talking about bad rosters the tip of the iceberg is Trek - a.k.a. The Retirement Home of has beens. Cannondale are close second, followed by Lampre.
About Bora - Barta, Huszarski, Thwaites, Buchmann or Benett, Kolář, Baška and Bodnar aren't names that will make you say wow. There are some availlable riders for next year that may use - not all of Tinkoff and IAM riders are taken and there are some availlable names from Lampre that may be useful

I don't think that Sagan has been unlucky in comparison to other pros, just look at his wins. Sure some close misses but well, that's mostly down to his skill set. But if there is one rider in the peloton who makes his own luck and just bends the race with his quality and talent to his favor it's $agan. Probably an even greater virtue than his versatility. Guy has the quality to never be bad, never rely on luck.

Why don't you use the whole quote? I said "Bora better hope his luck doesn't run out and he gets injured" I don't think Sagan's victories have anything to do with luck, I was talking about that he has had a good run with injuries and Bora better hope the luck with that doesn't run out and he gets injured because they do lack genuine WT level back ups

Sorry, i thought both parts of the sentence reffered to different thing, my fault as the non-english speaker. If luck part reffers to injuries, then i agree with you completely.
But then again, he avoided possible injuries many times with his bike handling skill, but of course you cant avoid and escape from every situation (like when motorbike sent him flying).
So yeah, hopefully he will stay healthy, because i agree that Bora does not have many other WT scorers besides him yet.

All good!
Personally I hope he stays healthy as its not just Bora who needs him but cycling as a whole, he's really all cycling has going for it at the moment when you look at the other big names of the sport, Froome is bland, Quintana is bland, Contador is done and has never really was that engaging to begin with, none of the top fast men are all that exciting, the sports governing body is a joke so yeah, let's hope Mr Sagan can stay upright and in good condition and possibly a real rival rise through the ranks to give the sport a little life support.

It's official now that both the Yates have signed extensions with OBE.
Pozzovivo is confirmed to be leaving AG2R.
Geniez goes from FDJ to AG2R
Rick Zabel rumoured to Katusha as another German signing to please Alpecin

That makes me think that Pozzovivo would be yet another Bahrain-Merida signee.

Well, I agree that Quintana is bland and that Contador is done, but Froome really gave us some great racing over the last years. Doping or not, but he attacks often, or is jo-joing at the back. Really a nice thing to watch him ride, in my opinion.

Bora are acting very short sighted here. Yes, Sagan is capable of carrying the team by himself when he performs, I don't doubt that. but it only takes one pack tumble to put Sagan out for a few months and then they're shit outta luck.
