Still can't believe he's riding it, in an extreme position like one of a TT bike where the wrist is used heavily.

Guess he thinks he can take some painkillers and block out the pain for the length of the TT, it will be tough but he is currently the best TT rider in the world
He is no better than Froome!

Tom rode the Giro before the tour so would have felt some tiredness. They are very similar on hilly courses but flatter courses Tom is showing himself to be faster than Chris.

Before first time trial attack Froome with Sagan and the following day he attack and run on Mont Ventoux. While Tom relaxes of. They are equally good. Depending on how the route is. Hill/mountain Froome favorite, flat Tom favorite.

Contador wins, all other has no chance. Because he is the only training up to Vuleta, all others have been training up to the Tour or Olympics and is tired.

Froome is normally long the best, but he is tired after Dauphine, Tour and Olympics, maybe he is as much in a class by himself that he can go on podium.

Quintana and Movistar is just overrated and Riis123 here on the forum speak them up to some they are not.

"Movistar overrated" is failed note for any time of year.

I don't think Movistar are overrated particularly but they lack the really big wins i.e the Tour. Their riders are among the worlds best for sure so maybe they are not overrated but they are expected to perform better because they are a very strong team who win races, but maybe not such a range like Tinkoff did or Sky because they have a massive range of riders, from sprinters to cobbled classic specialists.

So basically, they focus on the Grand Tours and very prestigious races as they are more traditional. And in recent years they haven't won a lot of huge races(LBL, I know).

If you know what I mean?

But Sagan could win in a wide range of races Pfft

But you´ve realized that Contador has planned his form to be great at Le Tour? Together with the injury that should influence him a lot...Chaves f.e. could be in a position like this.

Didn't Contador also peak for the Tour and drop out injured two years ago? I definitely wouldn't count him out (though of course saying the others have no chance is ridiculous)

Louis Vervaeke also on the startlist. I surely hope José Been is not commentating for Eurosport this year Pfft

Contador had his problems in Burgos, but surely he'll just get better in Vuelta. It's guess work really.

Arberg already looking for excuses is quite amusing. Obviously he is declaring Contador as winner so that in hindsight he can belittle his victory.

I don't count him out, I only wanted to point out that he hasn't got an advantage as huge as Arberg's quote might suggest.

It is my opinion, that calling others opinions ridiculous is ridiculous.

Froome and Valverde is most tired, Nibali, Quintana, Aru and Landa is also tired. Kruijswijk and Chaves are no better than Contador.

Contador is fresh and has trained to Vuelta in 2 months.
Vuelta is the GTs to match Contador best, home in spain, not so warm and stop and go increases. Contador wins on a cheap basis and all others have no chance.

I'm allowed to have my opinion. I said before the tour that nobody had a chance against Froome and I say that nobody has a chance against Usain Bolt. I'm allowed to have my opinion and we will see Smile

Kettle? Hello this is Arberg!

Pfft of course you are right.
But I remember certain posts, from certain people... Wink

He comes back from an injury and quit the tour on 10th July, so he hasn't been training for two months, like you say. In total it'll probably be presumably one month of training. As Burgos shows, he will need to get the most of his form by racing. Similiar to Vuelta 2014. It's really not so easy as you pretend it to be. It's a Grand Tour and to win a GT is always a hard task.

Everyone is allowed their opinion of course, but by saying Contador has been training for the Vuelta for 2 months, I'm allowed to make an opinion that your opinion is just plain stupid.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Spilak23
Contador abandoned the Tour 6 weeks before the start of the Vuelta. Only couple days after his abandon he was already out training again. Not 2 full months but not much less. His injuries were minor, in fact couple days ago I read that the team was not happy with him abandoning. Plus he didn't have to travel back and forth to Rio.

Off all Arberg's posts I'd say the one about Contador easily being top favourite is one of the more reasonable. Smile

Arberg27
A little under 2 months, if it makes people happy.
Being interesting to see who will be the number two Pfft

wisdow23
Actually a lot less than two months. La vuelta starts next saturday, which means 40 days after Contador's abandon. Since he had an injury....he has less than a month for training. I dislike Contador but facts are facts.
He may be the favorite but I hope for an interesting battle and some crazy Colombian young guns.

Shonak
He started training on 17th july so it's pretty much a month, incl. a week racing in Burgos.
