What I love about Olympics is seeing both a lot of sports I do not normally see and sports I also normally see.
What I look most forward to is legend Usain Bolt show!
Thought you were supporting Froome in running events... He is promising, given his superiority in Tour he wanted to train a bit his running skills for Olympics
Froome? I keep with Denmark.
Froome wins a medal or two, maybe gold, is not so easy for him as TDF.
Denmark can win medal in badminton, wrestling, cycling, handball, kayak, rowing, sailing and swimming. |

As someone who likes watching pretty much every sport, I love the Olympics and it sucks that it looks like these games are gonna be a flop.
Hopefully the Handball is good though, as I love that sport and the Olympics are one of the only times I can get easy access to it on live TV.

also a different boxer; Hassan Saada from Marocco has been charged with sexsual assault.
in better news, first world record to got broken this olympics was in archery, Kim Woo-Jin broke it by scoring 700 points. 1 point above the previous record holder

So yesterday I went to the Sweden-Colombia game in Manaus. The company I'm traveling with consists of eight people and we composed about half of the Swedish fans in the stadium. The Swedish team did well and the game ended 2-2. It was a great experience.

Is it worth it to wake up at 6 AM on a Saturday to watch the opening ceremony? Absolutely!

Day 1 of Rio already has a few finals with most notibly the cycling road race, which has it's own thread so discuss there. cycling may be the first medal race starting but they will not be the first medals awarded as I think that honour goes to women's Shooting 10m air rifle event, the 10m Air pistol men finals are also today. Archery has their man teams finals and Fencing has the Épée Individual events. Weightlifting has their women's 48kg finals.
Judo has multiple events ending with the Women's -48 kg finals and the mens -60 kg finals. Swimming also has a multitude of finals with the men's 400m Individual medley finals, the men's 400m freestyle finals and as exiting final the women's 4*100m freestyle relay final.

First medal went to a 19-year-old American in shooting.
This sounds like a cliche to be honest

technically it's an 27 year old Chinese though as shooting uses an elimination progress, eliminating the person with the lowest score until there are two left. so bronze medal is awarded before gold

I was surprised by this actually--I didn't think anybody outside my bloodline shared my surname, let alone an Olympic Gold medalist.

To translate what arberg is trying to say: The Gold Four is a rowing team known for winning gold. They are in their semifinal.
