I keep wondering where Valverde would've finished had it not been for Nairo. His performance here after his 3rd place in the Giro in commendable.
Valverde is still the best rider in Movistar. Nairo still has some time to go. He has age on his side though.
3-4th. |

Oh definitely, there's a million variables....but you've just seen a guy who has crashed twice and ridden someone else's bike up a mountain win the Tour. Easily. If he starts to struggle on the climbs, cool he'll take 2 minutes out of you on the flat TT. His only weakness is he can't do short sharp inclines. |

Not the ideal outcome. Kreuziger only 10th. 14 seconds away from 7th place. Still top 10 and a really nice move though.

Exactly. Would've got another podium probably. He's an exceptional rider for all occasions.

Given how no one apart from Astana could take the pace off Sky this tour(and fat lot of good that did), I don't see any team getting close to him for years to come.
Quintana - doesn't have the team or stamina
Martin - can only punch attack and can't time trial
Porte - needs support which BMC doesn't have
Bardet - got years on him but again AG2R don't have anyone to tow him up
Aru - One-Giro pony
False, false and false. This standard that Sky have setten up with using top 10 gc guys as 6th man in train has created malformed condition. When 50% of good climbers/gc guys are riding for sky what do you expect, other teams to also have 5-6 guys of same level? Also, a team like AG2R neither can pay or convince a rider for example like Intxausti or Konig to be just a helper for Bardet. But that doesn't mean that those teams doesn't have enough support, main domestiques are there until it's only GC captains and Sky left.
Yeah and that Aru remark is just stupid in it's principle as he had won Vuelta and podiumed two giros at age of 25. |

And that is part of the problem. No one else can bring such a team and unfortunately it's only going to get worse(I see there's a rumour of Diego Rosa going next year). And I fear it'll get like the green jersey comp(Another one I think Sagan could win as many as he wants) |

Disaster was the moment when they put all cards in Aru hands who is racing his first Tour and selected Nibali, Fuglsang and Kangert who already had ridden Giro on 100% to be his 3 out of 4 main domestiques. |

Arguably most disappointing thing today was no attack from Yates. Mentjes wasn't going to take the time back today but he could have had a go for the podium. |

Kreuziger 12 seconds form 7th place.
How much time did he 'lose' because of that fan in final km today? Time for UCI/ASO to step in

Gotta agree there. No harm in bringing Nibbles, the other should have been replaced though, but by who though?
All that hard work by Rosa and zero chances to go for individual glory for him, must be a bad feeling now

Terrible squad planning from the get go. Even if they won Giro, Aru probably would have been better off racing Giro as his main objective and doing Tour as a domestique for Nibali this year. Plus they should have splitted Scarponi, Rosa, Kangert and Fuglsang 2 x 2 for Giro and Tour. |

Chaves.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
