Le Tour de France 2016 | Stage 7 | L'Isle-Jourdain - Lac de Payolle

Should mean we get an interesting fight between him and Sagan then. Smile

I don't see how he shouldn't be able to win it. If you look at the profile of the stages this TDF and how they have put the intermidiate sprints before the first mountains often, it's clear that they want a new winner of the green jersey

If Cav can win it I dont see any reason why Kittel shouldnt be able to win it. I mean hes right in there points wise.

He can, but then he needs to be better in the last 3 clear sprint finishes. And so far he hasn't been Smile

I still wouldn't discount Sagan though, I think the mountains will tire Cav out from joining breaks on mountain stages or at least winning sprints on them or after the mountain stages, even if he can drop back on the climbs and Sagan is someone I'd never discount.

It is so close though this year that it is a matter of who has a better day

Is Adam Yates punished by the big air sausage god Rolling Eyes and losing time on this stage?

Agree with you both, everthing is still possible. Will Cav lose some strenght and maybe not deliver in the pure sprint stages, and what about Kittel, can he bring it ?

The only thing we know for sure is, that Sagan will consistently be in the frame in both intermidiate and pure/hilly sprints.

I think the stage to Revel will be key. For Sagan its make it or break stage.

Indeed, he needs his team to do proper amount of work for him. I think he secretly wish that Contador doesn't contest for the GC, cause this time, the way i see it, he needs a team to make a selection on Revel, and maybe on a few other occasions to.

No I looks like they will use the time from 3 km mark, and he will have a gab to the peloton, but it is not registrated in letour.com yet. So i am not 100% sure .

That is a massive fuck you to the British Cycling by Cummings! Great win from him and fantastic tactics to take the victory.

So unlucky for Yates in the flamme rouge incident. Any insight to what happened?

While it is a good win it doesn't really prove anything to British Cycling.

The reason he hasn't been selected is because he's not seen as a team player. He's very good a attacking and occasionally he wins, but in the Olympics with only 5 riders they can't afford a rider who isn't going to pull their weight for the team.

A solo win doesn't disprove that. If they had a full team of 8 he would be in no question as a plan B.

Also, Froome is going to be the leader and I'm sure he will want teammates he rides with throughout the year.

Are we talking about the same guy who was pulling breakways for Cav in flat stages?
Honestly, I don't get why GB just don't put Yates as their leader, at least he has won San Sebastian, while Froome just isn't a classics rider.

Yates isn't indeed punished, and now leads the young riders rankings.

Spectators belt to blame - future inflatables to have an armed guard and big dog present Pfft

sammyt93
Personally I'd blame the guy that put it up for bad cable management, if he did his job right then it wouldn't have been possible for anybody to catch their belt on it.

If only he'd have preferably taped or even cable tied it back then it wouldn't have been a problem but in order for a spectator to be able to catch his belt on it then the guy that put it up must have left some slack at a dodgy height to make that a possibility.

As far as I'm concerned that's 100% that guy's fault as anybody that works in events should know this and to see an amateur error on such a big event as Le Tour is just shocking, even to someone who has only done the first year of a 2 year college course in technical theatre, it's one of the first things anybody that wants to go into that kind of job would learn as it really is one of the basics.

My thoughts:
CUMMINGS IS GODLIKE I GODDAMN KNEW HE"D COME THROUGH WITH A WIN
Nice from Yates - played it perfectly and looked comfortable the whole way, gained some seconds in the end and hope the cuts aren't too bad. Agree with sgdanny through it was a bit of a freak accident with the banner. Really shitty thing to happen and looks and is really bad. Pretty pissed off myself.
Nibz for stages - obviously today he wasn't godly enough but seriously tomorrow again could suit him - if he's feeling good.
Mate very sneaky indeed - nice top 10 and good for Cofidis with Navarro doing well (Impey better Pfft) and another two riders in the break.
Pinot obviously didn't want anyone to attack but it's still funny to see FDJ working then him losing minutes - sad as well though. Barguil looked bad for a second but finished nicely.
weirdskyfan losing the plot - may have to take back the signature quote Pfft GVA did well and I was supporting him - he did well and gave a nice interview saying he knew he could do just the one climb - good stuff but he certainly won't leave the Pyrenees with it - I could be wrong. He's not going to hold up 7 minutes - probably not even tomorrow. But enjoyed it all the same, he's a good guy and rider so great for him.
Cav going for green - excellent! Cool to see the guy doing it - perhaps bad for my Velogames where I crumbled and finally picked Sagan. Oh well, he's still OP. Speaking of which agreed with you guys on 20 rider break rule - denied me a fair few points today and maybe could be increased to 30, though there were a number of passengers today.

Fuckin scary.

Riis123
I just lost a lotta money on that shit.

Leget reminded me of Colombiere 2007, the first mountain stage in the race and the first in the Alps, Gerdemann won. We all know what happened next day on a multi mountain stage Wink
