Not up to Movistar standard the last two, but off course it is impossible to win every one.

I see the team has established a very high standard to live up to . Not very important races these, and also, not possible to get it right every time. like you said.

GRAND PRIX CYCLISTE de MONTREAL
This race took place on the same day as the last stage of the Vuelta a Espana. The second leg of the Canadian World Tour adventure started with a 3 man break. They were caught with 180 km left. A 4 man break with Esteban Chaves formed. They built up a 9 minute lead over the peloton. Teammates Lennard Kamna and Wilco Kelderman attacked with 20 km to go. They could not stay away, as the pack caught the duo as well as the break with 14 km left. Meintjes attacked soon after the breakaway was back in the pack. He was followed by Aru. The latter rider could not catch up to the former, but he wasn't caught by the pack either. Meintjes was long gone. Movistar duo Pello Bilbao and Gorkha Izagirre launched a late bid to catch Aru, but in vain. They took the next two positions. Meintjes came 1st comfortably, with Fabio Aru in 2nd and Pello Bilbao taking 3rd and a podium place for Movistar. The team had five riders finish in the top 10.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Individual Time Trial
Spain was being represented by Jonathan Castroviejo and Jesus Herrada.
Jesus was the first off the blocks, taking 1st and 2nd in the intermediate checks. When he crossed the line, he was in 5th place but over 2 mniutes down! He eventually finished 43rd.
Castroviejo too crossed the two intermediate time-checks in 1st and 2nd place, but fell to 13th at the finish line. He would then be overtaken by 15 more riders to end in 28th place.
This was not a good outing for the Spaniards.
Yohan Paillot was crowned World ITT Champion ahead of Tom Dumoulin in 2nd and Andrew Talansky in 3rd.
(The podium screen was not on long enough for me to take a screenshot)
Road Race
The first break of 12 riders, including Spain's Mikel Nieve, built up a 2 minute lead over the peloton. They were caught with 230 km left. The next break of 6 riders, with another Spaniard - Carlos Verona, got 30 seconds over the pack before they were reeled back in. Another 3 rider break, again with Verona in it, formed and built up a 10 minute lead. The American Bush and Averin from Ukraine were the other riders in the breakaway. Bush attacked again with 100 km to go while the other two were caught. The former was finally caught with 18 km to go. Peter Sagan attacked from the group with 8 km to go. Ion tried an attack with 4 km to go but the sprinters were too strong for him in the end. Sagan was long gone and was crowned the Road Race World Champion. Defending champion Nacer Bouhanni had to settle for 2nd place with Caleb Ewan in 3rd. Ion Izagirre finished 9th.

Updates from races held in the week following the World Championships...
Tre Valli Varesine
Milano Torino
Tour de l'Eurometropole
Coquard won stages 2 and 3, but a breakaway win by Pieter Jacobs on stage 1 and failure to claim 1st place on stage 4, meant he lost out on repeating his win in this race by just 1 second.

IL LOMBARDIA
The last Monument of the season as well as the last big event for most cyclists. Il Lombarida saw Roman Kreuziger turn out in Movistar colours and in professional cycling for the last time. It was an emotional day for the man and the team. They had registered a strong lineup to try and help Kreuziger go out with a bang.
The race started with a early 4 man breakaway. Korniets fell early but recovered. The breakaway had 8 minutes to the pack at the most. There was a pack split with 50 km left, as the peloton traversed the climbs on the route. Sergio Henao attacked with 44 km to go. van der Poel was the next out of the bunch, with an attack 38 km from the finish. The lead group behind the break/attackers was down to 65 riders at this point, with 5 Movistar riders still in it. The two attackers were caught, followed by the break being caught with 25 km to go. 4 riders - Kreuziger, Sergio Henao, Dan Martin and Elia Favilli - attacked with 12 km to go. The quartet pulled out a lead over the bunch. With 4 km to go, Henao attacked again. Konig, Kelderman, Herklotz and Alaphilippe attacked from the pack. Alaphilippe was left behind by the other three, who caught up to the previous four attackers. Henao was reeled back in. Favilli launched the sprint to the line, and even with his ageing legs, Kreuziger nearly got the better of him. Favilli won the Il Lombardia with Kreuziger finishing 2nd in his last ever competitive outing. Leopold Konig took 3rd, another podium, for Movistar. Alaphilippe ensured three top 10 finishers.

Kreuziger definitely had a couple of more years of cycling in his legs. But a great way to bow out nonetheless.
Updates from the season ending races...
Tour de Vendee
Paris Bourges
Chrono des Nations
And that's a wrap for 2020!

TRANSFER ROUND-UP
Movistar
Ins: Louis Meintjes (Orange), Sebastien Reichenbach (BMC), Angel Jorrin (Scouted Climber, 21, OVR 69, MON 73, HIL 69, FTR 74)
Outs: Roman Kreuziger (Retirement), Ruben Fernandez (Aeroflot)
The riders brought in this time was with the sole intention of replacing the retiring Kreuziger. It was very difficult to get a single rider with all of Kreuziger's abilities, so we decided to have two different riders take up his different responsiblities for next season. This meant that another rider had to be released and Fernandez was moved on. We wish him the best for the future. Our scouting network uncovered another prodigal talent, and having sponsored him in age category races, we felt it would be a waste not to sign him up. Presenting our new signings.
Louis Meintjes is a wonderful young talent who has already achieved important and impressive victories on tour. He has been brought in to the team with the aim of adding muscle specifically to the ageing Hilly Classics department. He will ride mostly as the secondary/co-leader of the team in WT stage races.
Sebastien Reichenbach is another luxury domestique whom we have been able to sign. He will be the lead domestique to the leaders in the Grand Tours. His reputation is world class and he has been a tried and tested lieutenant of Grand Tour aspirants for the past few years.
Angel Jorrin is a neo-pro with a big future. Already boasting good legs for the mountains, improvements in support abilities will see him go a long way. He's the best stage race talent we have uncovered since Isidro Pintassilgo joined us in 2016.
Movistar Team (for 2021)
Julian Alaphilippe | Julian Arredondo | Carlos Artime | Tiejs Benoot | Pello Bilbao | Bryan Coquard | Benat Intxausti | Ion Izagirre | Gorkha Izagirre | Angel Jorrin | Josef Katzer | Eduard Korniets | Leopold Konig | Mikel Landa | Juan Jose Lobato | Rafal Majka | Adriano Malori | Louis Meintjes | Manuel Moreno Capitan | Isidro Pintassilgo | Nairo Quintana | Dayer Quintana | Sebastien Reichenbach | Eustaquio Sanchez | Jasha Sutterlin | Rafael Valls | Alejandro Valverde | Elia Viviani | Sergei Vovchuk |
Other notable transfers
Peter Sagan - Astana -> Giant-Alpecin
Nacer Bouhanni - MTN-Qhubeka -> Team Sky
Thibaut Pinot - Orange -> Astana
Wilco Kelderman - Giant-Alpecin -> Astana
Rigoberto Uran - American Express -> Orange
Chris Froome - Sky -> Orange
A more detailed list of transfers is given in the following screenshots...
Astana have got even stronger with the signings of Pinot and Kelderman. This is on top of the presence of Fabio Aru in the team. There is a question of leadership clashes when it will come to the Grand Tours though. Chris Froome is on the move again, moving to Orange from Sky, and Rigoberto Uran will be his new teammate. Would they be sharing leadership at the Grand Tours, or will Froome accept his decline and turn into a super-domestique for the Colombian? Giant-Alpecin now boast both Kittel and Sagan on their roster while Sky have signed Bouhanni to lead their sprints.

STEPPING DOWN
The time is right to bring this story to an end. After 6 seasons of playing this career, the curtains come down on my managerial journey with Movistar. The team has achieved both career goals that we set out at the beginning of this story. I have revamped the first post and added the full Palmares.
I'd like to thank everyone who've followed and commented on this story for their continued support. A special thank you to Tamijo and DiCyc who've been commenting on the story for the longest time. Your encouragement was a big reason I continued this far. Thank You to Ripley too, for words of advice at the perfect moments. To the first follower of this story, so to say, trekbmc, who helped out a lot in the initial phase, when I was still figuring out how to make best use of this forum for writing. To others like Jandal, Croatia and TheSchleckFan, who've followed the story and commented off and on. I've missed out a few names here, and I'm sorry if I haven't remembered to mention you.
Signing off with this last post from Movistar - Climbing Kings. It's been a pleasure. I do plan to come back with another different story soon. Till then, enjoy the bike races. Adios Amigos!

Well after getting the Triple it gives the story a sense of finality, but still sad to see a really great story end, hopefully this means you'll be making a brand new one at some point though. In any case, congrats mate.
