Another season is in the books. I want to thank everyone who participated and helped in deciding this year's PCMDaily Favourite Cyclist. This doesn't exist without your input. Before announcing the winner, a few notes I'd like to share:
- There were four ties. Pretty sure that's a record but I'm too lazy to go check...
- The defending champion 5 Zdenek Stybar received the most votes
during a single match-up with 40 in his first round win over 12 Filippo Pozzato
- The biggest surprise is either 13 Alessandro De Marchi reaching the Round of 16 or 11 Romain Bardet and 10 Tim Wellens making the quarterfinals
- 38 votes in the Finals, but only 37 counted to crown a new champion
1 Peter Sagan Vs. 1 Esteban Chaves
Your 2016 PCM.Daily Favourite Cyclist is...
Spoiler
* PETER SAGAN *
He defeats Esteban Chaves convincingly: 24-13.
The top overall seed withstood all the pressure that comes with being a #1 seed and blitzed his way through the bracket to rightfully seize
his first title as a PCM.Daily's Favourite winner.
Sagan won all his match-ups by 9 or more votes and his average margin of victory was 12.5 votes. A dominating performance from start to finish.
He joins Marcel Kittel (2014) as the 2nd sprinter to win the contest, but I think Sagan falls more into category of a punchuer with a punch
and resembles more to our first winner Philippe Gilbert (2010).
Regardless, Congratulations to The Terminator!
The Votes (In The Order I Received Them):

Was really hoping Chaves could win that, but I guess Sagan is just too cool as a rider.
tbh Wellens and Bardet making the quarter finals isn't that surprising given they are very well liked riders all-round, I thought Wellens might've even made the final near the end. De Marchi making the round of 16 was amazing though
Thanks Mre for running this game that was quite a bit of fun.

It had to be Sagan. He's a great likeable dude and he has been in amazing form ever since the World Championships. He is far from a favourite of mine but he is a great asset to the sport and the favourite cyclist contest just shows his amazing popularity.

Wait, has Marcel Kittel actually won this contest? The sprinter that doesn't give a rats ass about defending the jersey he was awarded by ASO in 2013 and 2014 and doesn't even bother trying to win stages with more than 200 altitude gain? Hmmf..
Good winner in Sagan. |

Can't argue with Sagan as the winner. A great character and one of the most talented cyclists in the world. |

Once again, thanks for organising this MrE! It was as always a great pleasure and I now I feel very down because it's over. Sagan is the deserved winner. I'm curious to see if he can extend his title next year. Well, we'll see.
