Hmm... This is a two sided sword for me. It doesn't change anything in terms of my planning, but clearly it will be an easier ride towards a possible TdF success for Simon Spilak, but we also want to beat Pluchkin - I guess we will have to beat him in some of the other GC races across the season, to show that Spilak could beat him in the Tour aswell Smile

@SotD: We will see, if Spilak will have a chance to prove the confidence of his manager. Cool

Marginal gains!

As our fans already know, Aleksandr Pluchkin became the ITT World champion on tough course in South African Paarl. He thus completed the incredible season, where he has won all races he entered, bar the WC road race.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/WC/A/mg2015_aworlds_ITT_025.jpg

We have already presented the WC kit made by famous designer Aidan, but we have not mentioned that it was only the first draft of the jersey and there was interesting development around it behind the scenes.

Metinvest CEO Ruslan Popov, who is good friend with russian minister of science from the times of studies, was able to contact russian space agency ROSKOSMOS via him and start an interesting project, that can be beneficial for both sides.

ROSKOSMOS is currently studying and developing the new materials for use on the dresses of their astronauts and they have agreed (under strict conditions of silence around details) that they will share part of its outcome with our clothing designer Kalaš, who will thus be able to create an unique TT skinsuit for ITT World Champion!

Why only for him? Well, the costs of used materials and uniqueness of this project results in possibility of only one pice of this precious technology. The works on the skinsuit are almost over, so we are able to present you the draft of the skinsuit of the future:

i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/met16_wcitt_zpsudsvuxqp.png

We hope that this piece of equipment will help Aleksandr to fullfil his 2016 goals and make him visible and effective in every TT stage he will enter. We also hope to set the new trends for the future of cycling clothing and to help the space agency in development of safe and effective pice of clothing for life in space.

*disclaimer - this does not mean TT training, just RP reasons. Thanks Aidan!*

Believe me it does not, we are some 1,5 million far from being able to do that. Wink

No training money here at all, our budget on top of wages was quite small despite the success of last year and we have used it to buy riders. Actually when i see the amount of money in some PCT teams, i think we are still PCT. Maybe we need tougher goals? Or manager needs to be tougher negotiator. Grin

Thanks guys!

Oh, I thought all PT teams had some money for training. Guess I should revise the way I spend mine Pfft

Mystery #1 revealed, Quest for history confirmed!

Hello cycling fans and especially those who support the Metinvest-Dacia cycling passion project!

Few days back, we have decided to gave all the cycling fans, managers and journalists a mystery hint to one of our major objectives for season 2016. Those, who are deep into world of cycling probably noticed the famous scenery of certain european climb, but lets tease it a little bit more and start with a small history lesson.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/WC/A/mg2015_aworlds_ITT_025.jpg
Pluchkin winning the ITT Worlds title.

Late October 2015, sunny Paarl, South Africa...Aleksandr Pluchkin has just won the chrono world title and celebrated that with his family, friends and collegues from national team. The reception had one more important guest and that was CEO of Metinvest, Ruslan Popov. They have became friends already with Aleksandr and are able to chat about everything without a pressure between boss and his employee. So just two passionate cyclists chatting with glass of bubbly refreshment in hands.

Popov: Saša (Aleksandr in less formal way), big congrats for the title, you know i was confident that you will top your season like that, incredible, you had a dream season right?
Pluchkin: Tell me about that, i still cant believe it Ruslan. First the Vuelta win, then the biggest dream of my career coming into life in France and this is just a cherry on top. But i would not be able to do it without you my friend, without loyal support of everyone around Metinvest and our fans. That was the force driving me, next to mistakes i made in the past, racing wise.

Popov: You have certainly grown up as a rider and made that final step to become a Grand Tour champion. I am happy to be the helping hand in achieving your dreams and fullfil mine along the way. It was the best decision i have ever made as the businessman, to join forces with you and take the world of cycling by storm. What more we can dream of?
Pluchkin: I agree Ruslan, i could not hope for better team to sign with, everything is so relaxed here, but professional on the same page. We have achieved great things during that one year, but you ask what more we can dream of? I have some ideas and plans *smile*

Popov: Ahh, you little devil, i see you have gained evene more motivation with your success. I suppose you are speaking about defense of the Tour title right?
Pluchkin: Well...not really Ruslan, not really...i have another quest to follow, another steps to be reached. I want to make history, i want my name to be mentioned in all the cycling books, in all the TV broadcasts. I want to be biggest GT rider ever!

Popov: Wait, i am not sure we can afford to ignore Tour de France after your win in 2015. What will the fans think, what will the journalist make of it, maybe that you are a coward? I know that is not the case, but you know them, they wont stop in chase of sensation.
Pluchkin: Ahh, yeah, those journalists, i dont like them, but we need them..and we can use them. We need to feed them with better story than Tour title defense, the story about the three consecutive GT wins, the story about making the cycling history, what do you think?

Popov: *loud laughter* So this is what you have in mind, you evil genius. I agree that people will love it, when we will present it right. I just hope they will make the route good for you, if not, we should have think about it more seriously. But you have my full confidence, we will do everything we can to help you make the history in such a way. You have my word!
Pluchkin: Thanks Ruslan, this is very important for me and i want to do it here, with you and rest of the team. We will need more GT all arounders in the squad though, have you already contacted Grabovski as you mentioned? Anyway, lets have another glass...maybe Pinot Grigio this time?

It'd be kinda funny now if he lost. Pfft

Nah, hopefully he gets the triple, would be pretty great to see a record like that made. Smile

Thanks guys, i hope it was not only that champagne that made them feel so confident. Grin

I wonder who will be his opponents in Italy. Spilak should chase another goals and maybe Schleck wont return here after his triumph and Madrazo will battle in Spain and smaller tours? That would make things better, paper-wise, but i guess we cant hope for so much luck again. Pfft

Mystery #2 revealed, GT love confirmed!

Hello again ladies and gentlemen, fans of cycling and team Metinvest-Dacia. After the revelation of our first major goal in terms of Giro d Italia, we are here to present you the next big goal and team for it.

Some of you probably recognized the picture labeled as mystery hint #2 (some probably used Google for that). Pfft

The picture is nothing else but famous Sierra Nevada climb in Spain, region of Andalucia. Whole Sierra Nevada mountain range is a beautiful piece of land, like created just for cycling.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Vuelta/MG15_Vuelta_podium_1.jpg

So it is only natural, that climbs of this region are often used in famous La Vuelta, one of the cycling Grand Tours and race that have seen total Aleksandr Pluchkin domination in year 2015 (see above).

The 2015 La Vuelta win was his first ever GT win, after so many podium finishes from years before in various Grand Tours. Thus Aleksandr has some great memories on this race, that is the place where his Metinvest GT journey started and it will continue there also in year 2016.

www.lovevalencia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/lavuelta-11.jpg

Yeah, we can confirm that Aleksandr Pluchkin will once again race only two regular PT season races, two GTs - Giro and Vuelta! Madness, huge risk, boredom, some will say, but we dont care. Both Aleksandr and team managemnt love the GT riding and we wont turn down a chance to again ride two of them with our biggest star.

We are not afraid of it, we are looking forward to it. We expect names like Madrazo, Tenorio or Phinney to be the biggest opponents for our team, we will make sure that whole team is ready for them!

So see you in La Vuelta! (after the Giro). The team for the task is probably not so strong like the team for Giro, but still should be able to help Aleksandr in mountains, as absence of TTT makes it easier for us to plan the team for it. This is the team:
