Well, i think i still have the right to give my opinion.
I have a lot of confidence in my football knowledge.
How can u call a team "bad for european championship for a long time " when Portugal went to the final once and the semi-finals and always lost against the best (except in 2004) since 2004 till now?
so they were in 1 out of 7 finals...
in 25% of EC finals and in 0% of WC finals, since 2004.
You call that a favourite? Do you even know what a favourite is?
WC:
2006 was their last good WM, finishing 4th...
2010, they came into the round of the last 16, getting dropped out by Spain.
2014, they got knocked out in a group, containing GER, USA and GHA...
They lost 4:0 against GER, won 2:1 against GHA and drew against the USA.
EC:
2004 they came into the final, but lost against Greece.
2008 they lost 2:0 against SWI and got knocked out later by Germany in the round of the last 8.
2012, they had trouble winning against DEN and CZE after getting beaten by GER again. They got knocked out by ESP later.
Which leads us to 2016...
They're in the most easy of all groups and still manage to get knocked out(probably), by HUN and ISL.
Portugal are not favourites. They're as much a favourite, as Stijn Vandenbergh is a sprinter.

Well there goes any credibility you had in predicting football games
England were AWFUL. Worst performance from an England team in a long time. They need to learn that teams will defend against them and if they can't find a way to break down poor but determined defences then they have no chance. Only silver lining is that we will most likely play Hungary or Austria in the second round as it's practically impossible for Portugal to finish second. Although all that means is it'll be another game of attack versus defence with England banging their heads against another poorly built brick wall. |

I actually thought that England played really well last night. Yes, they didn't manage to grind out a win but they were playing against a team that was very content to sit back with 11 men behind the ball and had no real interest in attacking. There wasn't much else they could have done, and with a bit more luck they would have taken the win - Alli and Vardy both went very close after all.
There's no one coming out of Group F for England to fear realistically. Hungary and Iceland have both been impressive, but they're limited sides - and they're nowhere near as defensively disciplined as Slovakia. Austria have offered absolutely nothing going forward so far, and Portugal have basically been a poorer version of England. As for the Quarter Final, should it end up being France then I think England wouldn't be too unhappy with that - they've not been particularly impressive so far, and it seems the pressure is getting to them somewhat. |

They have absolutely nor creativity going forward. Not a single player who can take a player on, or slot a ball to open a defence, or score from 25 yards. Absolutely nothing. They played a team who offered no offensive danger whatsoever and yet they still couldn't score 1 goal in 90 mins of football.
Any team can dominate a team that doesn't want to play football. A good team would have scored 2 or 3 with the amount of possession/time in the opposition half.
Useless. |

Not surprising that Enlgand started the tourney playing 5 Spurs players and ended up finishing lower than their red neighbours.

Zlatan just announced that Euro will be his last games in Swedens national team to must likely tomorrow against Belgium will be the last game for the greatest football player in Sweden.
Will he leave with a fiasco or can he finish in style tomorrow? |

I count at least 4-5 clear-cut chances, most of well-created. Plus a few "secondary" chances. In my opinion, they didn't succeed because of individual mistakes (or a strong goalkeeper), not because they weren't dangerous as a team.
Especially looking at the other teams' performances, I think the English team does relatively well.

They will have lots of shots.
After the game.
At the hotel bar.
To drown their sorrows.

Croatia really just changed Euros. Small team has a huge chance of final now.
One of these will be in final:
- Poland
- Switzerland
- Wales
- Croatia
- Winner Group F (Portugal or Hungary)
- Runner-up Group E (Likely Belgium)
- 3rd Group A / C / D
- 3rd Group B / E / F

I hope it will be Croatia.
Is a Croatie - Germany finale possible? If so, I'm all for it! |

Tepid performance from the Czech Republic- a rubbish tournament for them in truth. Vrba should be given a shot at the World Cup, but has showed his tactical naivety in all three games. Poor.
Disclaimer- Most of my posts are me thinking aloud. And most of what I think is rubbish.

England completely f!*%£d up against Slovakia. No run to the final is easy but now they are on the same side of the draw as France, Spain, Italy, Germany. Belgium will have a straight forward run to the final on the other side. |
