Happy with most things apart from this new objectives feature in career mode.
It's just a big downgrade, you can only set objectives for 6 (or 7) key riders and you can only give them 3 each and they're all the same priority. You "link" the other riders to one of your 6 riders which kind of annoys me because it takes away the whole management part of looking at each rider individually.
This is basically just a stripped down version of the 2015 objectives. I don't understand why they took out many options.
How does everyone else feel? |

I haven't got the game yet, but I'd welcome a simpler system for setting goals - and I would like to not have to set objectives for the domestiques.
And, as devils advocate, wouldn't limiting objectives be quite realistic? Top class riders struggle to perform well in multiple grand tours in a single year. |

Agree with you to some extent. However I think you should be able to set objectives for more than just 6 or 7 riders. I think top riders should get three main objectives and maybe 1 or 2 optional objectives and everyone else maybe 1 main and 1 side objective if that makes sense aha!

I can see why they did it as I have seen people complain before about having to spend time to set up at the start of the season.
I wouldn't have minded if they had added on a simpler version that caters to them and you could choose between the two. But now they've just removed a lot of the managing from pro cycling manager which is kind of why I played it!
I liked the fact that if you spent extra time carefully managing your team it would do better. The managing aspects of this game are already quite low so I'm very sad they made this change. |

I find it great that you can 'attach' the helpers to the leaders, since I think it makes it quite realistic; evert rider in the team is therefore dedicated to help the leader out trying to reach their goals.
The only negative thing about this is the fact that you can't choose your own leaders, which is kinda annoying. You could end up with some weird leaders eventually. |

Realistic?
In reality, the teams don't assign helpers to a rider for the whole season. This is just silly. They assign helpers to races based on their goals for those races.
If they want to win the green or yellow jersey of the TdF, of course the helpers will be for a single rider but a season is more than just the TdF. |

I have an important question related to this.
Last year, not only did setting goals mean good form for those races, but it also ensured your rider would almost certainly show up with perfect freshness, a requirement to perform well among top competition.
So a cobbles specialist would've received E3, Gent-Wevelgem, Ronde and Roubaix as goals to absolutely be sure he's there with full bars.
I would like to know if only being able to set f.ex. RVV or PR as early season goal means my leader might go to the other WT classics with bad freshness?
Could somebody please simulate to that point and give me feedback. If I can only be sure my rider has grest freshness in THREE races all season long, I'm not gonna get this game. Even 6 last year felt a bit too few sometimes.

@cio93: You pick those three races, then you carefully manage his season, to make sure he's in a good shape for all those other races.
Unlike many in here, I only ever used three or four objectives in a season, and then just managed my riders.

It's not about good shape, it's about decent freshness, which is usually shit during the last couple weeks before an objective.

Again, manage your riders: Dont have them racing too many racedays as they get closer to an objective. Pay attention to their freshness, fatigue and form, and you will get the best possible condition for the rider.

I've been playing this game for a decade now, I know how to manage my riders. Once I even put no race days in all of march with a build-up to the cobbles races and my rider still had horrible freshness for MSR.

totally agree, i used the same method and it works fine.
My problem with the new system is, that i cant influence the seoson of the helpers. I rearranged some of the helpers during the first days and their objective changed, but their training not. So i have to start at Roubaix with a captain with good shape and helpers who are totally out of form.... dont know how i can fix this. Anyone experienced the same?? |

I love the new system,
I hated old system where you had to review all your riders programm otherwise you'd have your bottom climbers with terrible objectives like tour of Qatar in February, and no race after August,
Now I can set-up my 7 best riders for the season and just add my other riders as teammates and be sure my leaders have teammates in a good form
Only downside is you can't put Tour De France and Vuelta the same season on a rider |

Did you test it already? I mean, are you sure that the teammates have a good form when they should. |

I cant get the new system to work. when i change the objectives of my leaders the objectives of my helpers stay the same. this happens also when i change the helpers between two leaders. That makes the game unplayable 4 me atm |

I have a few questions regarding the objectives as I mainly play career mode.
Are you able to assign different helpers for each objectives or will they automatically be linked to all three objectives?
During my careers, I usually get some young riders with potential, but who are not good enough to participate in WT races for a year or two. Does this mean that with the new system, I will have to assign them to one of my leaders, or can I still assign them second rate objectives?
I read on another thread that you do not choose who the leaders are? So does that mean that if someone is a leader, I can't attach him to another one of my leaders for another race. For example, let's say I play with Movistar. Can I have Valverde as the leader for the Giro and have him as a domestique to Quintana in the Tour?
And also that you can't select more than one objectives per 3 months period (so you can't select a Tour-Vuelta double? Is that correct? Are you able to select a Flanders and Paris-Roubaix double or a LBL and AGR double? |

You are completely right.
You cant choose your captains.
You can assign all Riders to one of the captains and they get all the same objectives. So you are not able to set smaller objectives to one of the youth riders.
You are not able to set one of the leaders as a helper to an other leader.
You are only able to change the training effort of the leaders.
Beside that i like the new system. Because it can save you a lot of time.
But it should be optional if i use it or not. And you should be able to set more objectives than 1 every 3 Months.
It would be perfect to select for example 2 leaders and attach all the helpers to them so you dont need to plan their season seperately.
Another group could be include all the yough perspective riders who participate in smaller races.
And then you should be able to set some free riders where you manage the season seperatly. |

imo, they should've "copied" the Football Manager series.
Make a normal career mode that includes EVERYTHING and then a more simple version - or almost pocket version - for people like me with no clue how to do all that stuff you have to do at the start of every season.
Like for planning the schedule. If a guy like me could set 5 major goals for the season and then ask the AI to suggest a schedule. That'd be a real help. Last year, I spent 3 hours trying to set up the start of a team, only to find that I failed horribly at it. Never went back. |
