You said that Contador had to be prepared not to crash, I'm not sure how this comes into it.
but while it has, Anquetil has been beaten due to bad tactics (Bahamontes won) as well as poor form (Gaul won) Indurain raced badly and lossed in 1996, Hinaultsean got tenditis in the year Zoetmelk won (1980 iirc), and Merckx has been beaten due to fans not liking him (1975) and Armstrong lost in 2009, so yeah, more than a crash can stop any of them.

Wasn't Anquetil worse than Anglade and Bahamontes though?
Also lol to Arberg.He should know how Anquetil lost 1959 and 1961 Giros.He should read those two Giros as well. |

How instead of babbling about race that's almost three weeks from now we could applaude to Steve Cummings for winning 3rd stage of a pro tour race this year. Now seriously, I don't mean it with sarcasm at all. Dude could probably be a constant top 15-20 rider in GCs of those races, but instead understands that's it's more valuable to save energy on other stages for glory moments like this. I take my hat off. |

Yes, Cummings is a nice rider, I think most would recognise that. But this is a preview to a bigger show, its about the Maillot Jaune, the biggest prize in cycling, so obviously that will steel most of the focus. |

Its slightly different cases since they actually had a winner for the 2 GT's where Contador was stripped, but the winner from 1999-2005 is blank and therefore I consider Armstrong to have won them since I don't subscribe to the 'no winner' thing. Its a grey area and I suppose very subjective again. |
