RBC Pro Cycling 2016

Sponsors for 2016 Announced

2.bp.blogspot.com/_nCEEV-BGlKQ/S2yJb3vAZ3I/AAAAAAAACUg/eE2OtLFc80A/s1600/Arbie_w_Torch.jpg

After a year were RBC made it clear that Promotion was the only option we are proud to announce we delivered on their mission statement for 2015. After contract negotiations were opened up for the team RBC made it clear their satisfaction of achieving all three of their goals for the season and as such we now embark on a 3-year Contract till the 2019 season with RBC. We are proud to still be ambassadors for the company and look forward to a successful future for us and Canadian cycling.

In other sponsorship news the one-year deal with British Airways has expired and after making contact with the team the new transport sponsor is Tesla motors as we look to lower our carbon footprint and provide a sustainable future for all.

The only other new sponsor is our first ever nutrition sponsor as Power Bar joins the team. The company founded in Canada will provide all race food for the team as well as dietary help throughout the year.

Finally we would like to thank the continued support of Salita, Giro, Argon 18 and Bontarager for providing equipment for the team along with designer Deksel. And last the continued support from Spidertech for another year.

Transfer Plans for 2016

RiderNationality

Staying 80-100%
Ryan Anderson
David Boily
Alexandor Cataford
Antoine Duchesne
Guillaume Boivin
Hugo Houle
Nathan Brown
Zachary Hughes

Massive core of Canadians and North American's in Browns case just very happy with all of them most will make a Grand Tour Debut and it's going to be great to see how they get on and how much training I can put in each of them

Staying Unless Good offer 55-79%
Johann Van Zyl
Charles Matte
Patrick Naud
Benat Intxausti
Boy Van Poppel

Van Zyl is a talent I really like but he may make way for a better North American same Matte and Naud in certain circumstances, I'd love to keep Intxausti as a 2nd GT rider and Van Poppel is a guy I feel has a future as a top lead out man at some point but his wage may force him out.

Looking to leave but not fussed if stay 30-54%
Jonathan Bellis
Michael Torckler
Christian Meier
Kai Reus
Florian Morizot

Hmm Meier, Torckler are both just a bit too deep at PT level though Meier could easily stay for his mountains and TT ability then onto Morizot who's great at PT domestique level but if his wage is above 60k I won't want him I'm pretty sure, then the big decisions do I let Bellis have a year at PT at the moment I'm coming down on the side that it's just too high for him and he's just not capable of scoring the points and a transfer fee could turn Boily into someone who could or at least just make Boily a better rider, Reus came for one reason to promote us he's done that I'd like to see him leave even though he's a favourite now.

Looking to sell 0-29%
Roman Krueziger
Dimitri Grabovski
Rene Mandri
Rick Flens

Again Krueziger and Grabovski came to promote us they have done that and are great at PCT level but may struggle with the step up Mandri and Flens I'd rather have young Canadian/North American's in their place.

Very nice HQ! Also liking the jersey. Smart move too trying to offload your older guys to smaller teams, a few of them could be great in a CT or even PCT team.

Cheers mostly with the old guys it's more they don't fit the focus if possible i'd love to keep going more north american year upon year

Thanks mate Deksel does a great job on the jersey year on year, look forward to hearing from you then

Thanks mate and we will see honestly I copied what I said months ago in the transfers but most of it still stands

Some incredibly low wages compared to similar riders in other teams, which means that your staff did great jobs with riders agents. Bellis for 195,000 is like for free, same with some other guys. Team looks good and there is plenty of room for some superstar.

Grabovski you say? Expect the call. Wink

OHH thanks Avin I don't think there that low but we didn't do very bad I think it's safe to say though there is probably room for one superstar max!Pfft

Team Goals 2016

NationalityRaceGoal
Tour De FranceTop 5
Veulta A EspanaTop 10
Chrono Des HerbiesTop 10
Tour of TasmaniaWin
Team StandingsAvoid Relegation

The Tour de Franceis quite simply the biggest race in the calendar bar non so it is of the up-most importance for the team to be competitive in this environment and as such it is very likely a new stage racer shall be brought in to try and achieve this goal. Next the Veulta Espana likely to be Intxausti hunting ground with only the top 10 goal required we hope he brings his A Game and not whatever it was he was doing last year. Chrono Des Herbies and tour of Tasmania both fit into what our team exceled at last year hilly stage race and time trials so the logical step was to make these goals and hope we can acquire riders to achieve results in these races, finally the obvious avoid relegation we are unlikely to be the strongest and it will be one long tough battle but we will be given it our all.

jph27
Looking at those goals, I think I have a fairly good idea who you are going to try to sign Pfft best of luck with them!

Seeing that Bellis is available, and with that wage, makes me very glad to have expanded my focus into Britain... Wink

Well I've not really tried to keep it a secret hahaGrin

and yeah he should be available looking at my plans from earlier and his wage is competitive for sure Grin

Taylor Phinney 82 Mountain, 83 TT, 77 Hills Wage: 1,550,000

RBC welcomes American superstar Taylor Phinney to RBC on equal record wage under salary cap rules of 1,550,000 million a year. After strong competition in the free agent market from established PT team Ebuddy after a short bidding war. Phinney who who instagrammed a photo with a brand new 2016 RBC jersey with just the caption "time to train hard big goals ahead #tdf".

dev4ever
Congratz on signing Phinney, perhaps the GC rider with most 'potential' of all.
He was always going to have an extreme price tag, but I think it will be worth the investment, specially if you got som PCM training camps planned for him Pfft

Gratz, another big earner in the field. and all of those bids are settled so fast this time around. Phinney to hit #tdf sounds swell, it'll certainly put PluiPlui under pressure already in the fights against the clock.

Phinney is obviously a huge signing. A bit of a risk as he need some proper training but if you can avoid relegation this season then he will likely be the best stage racer in 2017 Wink
