People writing off Aru for the Tour already? Pff, he is a sure top5 candidate, maybe the third best guy on paper behind Quintana and Froome for me. There is still lot of time to work on his fitness for the biggest target of the year.
Race by race I see him makes me hating Nacer Bouhanni even more. If this behaviour is allowed then it will create a lot more mass crashs. Guys like these make me doubt whether cycling should be the sport I love...

You know whose behaviour will create a lot more crashes? Sky and Tinkoff's. I don't understand the obsession with leading the bunch with 2, sometimes even fucking 1 kilometre to go when you are a GC-team on a flat stage in Dauphine. It creates so much tension.
I seriously think something needs to be done. Whether its making the 3 km rule a 5 km rule or even 10, telling them to fuck away and let the sprinters to their job, I don't know, but Im pretty uncomfortable with this trend going into the Tour.

Are you serious? They were just keeping Froome at a save spot. Bouhanni and his last leadout man just went full Renshaw.
Im dead serious. GC-team trying to act like sprinting teams make the sprints much, much more tense. Have you looked at the replay? A miracle that Froome didn't cause a mass crash.
Anyways, its more of a comment to the trend itself. 10 years ago, it wasn't a problem at all. 5 years ago, it was worse but now, its seriously bad and dangerous. I just pray that nothing serious happens to either Froome, Quintana or Contador, imagine the fights on the first pan flat days when the GC isn't set. Its gonna be the wild west, a complete mess if today is anything to go by.
Maybe its my nerves, but the big GC-teams acting like sprint teams is making this much more dangerous that it has to be. Simply put, there isn't enough space.

I see.

I'm actually a man who likes to take time gaps as they stand, however I'm also for rider safety and I'm with Riis here. If GC teams wouldn't be up there drilling it, it'd be less crowded, less chance of crashes. It's also damn energy consuming to drill it so hard. but then again, fight for seconds is real and we all want exciting racing and make Oooh snap! when crashes happen outside 3k.

ALso can people stop blaming Bouhanni. Images clearly showed it was Katusha who started the headbutts.
Only because they started it, doesn't make it better....Bouhanni is known for being an unfair arrogant prick and this just fits perfectly to his style.

I don't think many on here take me seriously (I think some find me extremist), but it has been one of my pet peeves (along with mucho other stuff) for a while now. Im all in for wanting to see the best show possible, the best racing on the biggest stage, and this is one of the things which could hamper that if one or two big GC-contender crashes out. 5 km rule, por favor.
Making a different route, setting the GC early is another thing that could be done. Aint nobody want a Tour 2011 crash fiesta and backloaded to the extreme all over again, fx.
Cofidis made a great move to sign a Bouhani and also hired a helpers for him. Their ambition to became GC team has failed so many times.
it has been success story so far.
I just don't like the guy..he is to much "sprinter"..arrogant, stupid, fearless, cocky, winner type..as sprinter should be.
Having just woke up (Australia) and watched the final few kilometres of Stage 1 all i can say as the reason that Bouhanni is STILL in the race is that Cofidis must have put a HUGE AMOUNT of sponsorship money into ASO.
This is not a bitter Aussie calling for Bouhanni to be thrown out because Renshaw was thrown out at the TDF as payback previously.
For me the fastest or most technical savvy Sprinter should win a Final Sprint and NOT a Bulldozer and a careless one at that.
Nacer Bouhanni will NEVER be considered or Ranked as a Tier 1 Sprinter of the likes of Kittel, Greipel, Cavendish and Kristoff. Bouhanni however is a very balanced person because he has a chip on both shoulders.
Having read some of the comments in this thread that GC teams should be out of the way when it comes to a sprint is a mute point to me. The reason i say this is hundreds of sprints have taken place under the same circumstances and there has been no problem. We could always go back to the 90s and 2000s where due to doping the pace was so high that you could only follow single file and i don't think anyone wants that era to return.
