Intxausti not even in Top 3. UCI are drunk again.
Gratz to promotion.

Wait! What? What is it with PCM and sponsors walking out all of a sudden? I hope you get another one in time. Just promoted to WT level. Would be a exceptionally painful time to fold.
Haven't been following for the past couple of weeks to be honest, but got myself back up to speed today. Intxausti doing really well this season. Incredible how he wasn't even nominated!

Damn close indeed, but Arredondo surely was a deserved winner, while Guerreiro overestimated himself. Thanks

Reading the Velo d'Or nominees and top 3 outcome and seeing Beñat's not even there like:

Thanks! Hopefully we have convinced Caja Rural to keep going by now

BREAKING: UCI STRIPS CAJA RURAL OF WT LICENSE
Brian Cookson, current president of the Union Cycliste Internationale, has just revealed there will only be one new team in the World Tour next year, and that's IAM Cycling. He stated that 'based on the current financial situation of the team, it would be a mistake to allow Caja Rural to claim a spot in the highest division in the world of cycling'. No place for this green army in the World Tour next year. Despite their last season being one they can and should be proud of. It doesn't seem to matter. Even some other teams have expressed their outrage. Without exaggerating, this decision to keep Caja Rural out of the World Tour is at least to be called questionable. Not every Pro Continental team manages to win two monuments in their history, let alone in one and the same year.
But Cookson says 'the UCI can't only take into account the realizations on the bike. The financial healthiness of a team is at least equally important'. Once again a statement that can and will cause him even more damage to his and the UCI's image.
In the end this means Lampre-Merdia will hold on to the spot the Italian formation seemed to have lost. General manager Giuseppe Saronni stated that 'he would have preferred to keep this World Tour place thanks to performances on the bike, but that nobody would refuse a chance like this one'. Beñat Intxausti was one of the tastemakers of last season and is also thé star of this Caja Rural team. Having won both Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia, he had already been overlooked during the award of the Velo d'Or. However the modest Basque, transferred from Movistar two years ago, explained he had never believed he would get it anyway. Hearing this news, Caja Rural may get discouraged even more. Missing the Vuelta a Espãna had been a huge disappointment already. While things looked a bit better after a triumph in Lombardia and the team's promotion, this announcement might have been this a fatal push towards the edge, paving the way to the folding of this charming team.
To be continued...
