Shall I try and summon a team (ideally Astana) to the front of the peloton by saying that I'm bored of the slow pace again?

Such an epic landscape, love these truly big mountain passes
I am a big sucker for the western alps but that part there only looks good in winter when everything is covered in snow. During summer time it looks more like some arid, rocky moonscape. Still a perfect area for MTB and road bike riding.
French are a fun sport nation so there aren't so many restrictions for riding your MTB like in Austria or Germany. And the roads too are less cramped compared to the Stilfser Joch or Alp d'Huez.

With the steepest ramps at the bottom of the climb It would be still a good idea to increase the pace at the Bonette |

Will anyone dare to try something on the upcomming descent or has the pace been too slow in the pack?

Well maybe Nibs prefers to have a rather fresh team at Lombarde, set up a cozy Astana train. Plenty of time to get a minute back on Chavito.

I see no point in downhill attack from such a big peloton... |
