Youth Invasion: British Virgin Islands, Guadelope & Cuba!
Donations from sammty93, AbhishekLFC and Jakstar22 equals 3 more signings.

I'm nervous to sign anyone under the age of 17, but these guys really stood out.
Tajo Sylvester | Age 14 | Climber | Wage: $0
Bio: Sylvester is a multi-talented athlete with semi-professional club soccer teams trying to sign him. Good thing he enjoys cycling more.

Emeterio Amory | Age 14 | Punchuer | Wage: $0
Bio: Amory's idol is Peter Sagan. He mimics Sagan's racing style on the bike and antics off the bike. Podium girls beware, he is well under-aged.

Only a few more hours left before we can start finalizing the team. Right now the team size is too large, but we will fix that problem once the founding membership phase is complete. It's certainly a good problem to have.

Close, but No Cigar for Saunders!
I left the decision to sign Keenan Saunders up to the founding members and there was a split decision. Needing a majority to approve the transaction, seven out of the 16 members said yes.
So close, but that's not the majority. Every vote counts.
Want to make a difference? Well, there is still an hour and a half left to become a founding member, don't miss out on this opportunity.

I've heard that the new Sagan should be cycling around on Dominica, and I would like to donate some dollars to find him and get him on the team! |

Last Signing in Dominica!
In the wee hours of the morning I made the final scouting trip thanks to BB95.

I was delighted when I found this guy to make the hassle worth the trip.
Agwe Ash | Age 19 | Sprinter | Wage: $0
Bio: Ash is a laid-back, doesn't get flustered easily type of sprinter. He is cool in pressure situations, but lacks that killer instinct to pounce at the right time.

Well, I'm exhausted... I'm excited we have a team of 22 cyclists with the founding membership period over. I really can't thank you enough for the support.
However, to register for CT races we have to comply by UCI rules which states we can only have 18 registered cyclist. Meaning 4 cyclists will have to be dropped from the squad.
I'm going to take a closer at the team and offer up the 5 worst cyclists according to my calculations and I'll let the members decide who stays and who goes.

Very happy that you invested in Chaz Johnson on my behalf, he surely doesn’t look like much right now, but my instinct and a local voodoo wizard believes in him

Trimming the Fat, Squad Finalization!
Can't believe I get to say this, but we have too many cyclists. In order to register for CT events we can only have 18 cyclists. We currently have 22 due to the large support of the PCM.Daily community coming forth with 17 founding members.
I've given the entire squad a second look and picked out the five worst cyclists. They are listed below in alphabetically order.
Here is an overview of the squad to give you a better sense of the team:
Who gets the opportunity to stay and be apart of the inaugural Island Runners?
Jace Fandor | Age 15 | Punchuer | Wage: $0
Bio: Fandor looks like he just came out of a magazine. His attractiveness and boyish looks could influence the media, but his cycling talent is below average.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | 60 | 60 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? |
Kosmo Hay | Age 24 | Climber | Wage: $0
Bio: Hay is hard working and doesn't take no for an answer. He doesn't care what his role is as long as the team is succeeding. Although he gets angry quickly.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | 66 | 60 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? |
Ajay Quashie | Age 19 | Punchuer | Wage: $0
Bio: Quashie is a prankster. He doesn't take himself seriously most of the time and is always looking to cheer up his teammates with a joke.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | ? | 61 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 64 |
Levi Saunders | Age 17 | Sprinter | Wage: $0
Bio: Saunders isn't that good. I'll be honest. He could develop into something, but really he looks destined to be the team's bottle carrier.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 64 | 66 | ? | ? | ? |
Hennrick Sweeney | Age 23 | Punchuer | Wage: $0
Bio: Sweeney thrives on his bike handling and is impressive on the downhill. His determination to reach the top of hills though is lacking.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | ? | ? | 61 | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | ? | 69 | ? |
The cyclist with the most votes in the next eight hours will be kept.
Note: Only founding members votes will count.
Thanks = Fandor
Zarbel'd = Hay
Good Idea = Quashie
Thumbs up = Saunders
Thumbs down = Sweeney

With squad finalization going on at the moment, I also thought now would be a good time to figure out what we want to do with the team jersey.
I'll offer up three suggestions and see what everybody thinks.
Option #1: White T-Shirts & Black Shorts | Cost: $1,000
The cheapest option, but won't draw any attention to the team. Cyclists won't be happy wearing this kit and there performance likewise will suffer.
Option #2: Local Designer | Cost: $2,000
Paying extra money for somewhat of a design, but don't expect a masterpiece. The material will be low quality, so this kit won't improve performance either.
Option #3: Professional Attire | Cost: $3,000
The most expensive option, but you are getting a top quality jersey that will standout in the peloton and is designed to improve performance.
The option with the most votes in the next five hours will be used.
Note: All votes will count, not just founding members.
Thanks = Option #1
Zarbel'd = Option #2
Good Idea = Option #3

Is the team willing to make a statement on what sort of budget they have, otherwise it's hard to make these sorts of decisions?
Squads looking great so far in terms of talent, not regretting my donation.

I assume we have a budget of 10.850$? 10k of your initial investment plus 17*50$ from the founding members? And 2.400$ is Samuels' yearly wage, right? What other costs can we expect?

Right, well then I reckon the Local Designer option is the best, and just to request that the local designer makes something colourful that will stand out (even if it's bad, 'bad publicity is better than no publicity' and it will give us a bit of team spirit to have our own kit as well as making sure we're visible (winning races in a black and white kit won't be nearly as attractive to potential future sponsors, right?), however that extra $1000 for a professional kit is a lot for us and spending something like that sounds risky given we will likely have more costs.

Absolutely, I'm glad you asked. Here is a rough outline of the current finances. More details to come eventually when things start to get settled down. It's a little chaotic around the office right now.
| Revenue | Expenses | Initial Investment | $10,000 | | Founding Members Donations | $1,700 | | Scouting | | $850 | Cyclist Wages | | $2,400 | Jersey Creation | | ? |
Total Remaining: $8,450
Also, I'm currently looking into hiring a team photographer, a team writer/social media expert and a team doctor. Plus we will need to account for monthly rent on the team headquarters, the training facility and buying equipment.
So, how do we make money you might ask? Well, prize winnings, selling off cyclists, donations, sponsorship deals, etc.
Hopefully, that helps a little bit for now. It will get more in-depth over time.

Thanks Mre, budget looks a couple k lower than I hoped, still reckon that getting a locally designed kit will be best for us, spending 3k on a kit is pretty expensive given we only have 8k but it's still important to have something to make us stand out a little so people notice us for sponsorship and publicity.

I recently shared a rough draft of where we are at financially.
Well, I already have a quick update to share.
The cyclist wage column was incorrect. The current date is mid-May 2016, so we only have to pay Oneil Samuels for six months ($1,200 instead of $2,400).
In addition, new info on the cost of rent of the team HQ ($150/month) and training facilities ($250/month). So, here is where we currently stand.
| Revenue | Expenses | Previous Amount | $8,450 | | Cyclist Wages | $1,200 | | Team HQ | | $900 | Training Facility | | $1,500 |
Total Remaining: $7,250
I'm currently in the process of trying to get the team accepted and racing in the CT Tour for the 2017 season. It's a long, frustrating process. Hopefully I'll have news to share about that shortly.
Also I'm looking to find amateur races here at the end of the 2016 or maybe some possible CT wildcards as an option. I'll keep you posted.
Ideas, suggestions and questions are always welcomed.

I think it would be a good idea to get publicity going as soon as possible, as you already hinted at with the team photographer and social media expert (possibly the most hollow job description there is ). Attracting local sponsors should not only bring some cash in but also maybe helps getting local fans involved and increase the identification with the team.
Also, maybe there's some government funding you can apply for, especially since you provide activities for many young people. Don't know how / if that works in Jamaica, though

Hitting the Streets, Local Sponsors!
You offer advice, I listen. Thanks to an idea by cunego59 I went around Jamaica to local businesses and asked if they would be interested in sponsoring the team.

It's not much, but every little bit helps. Let's hope the island will get a little more interested in the program once people actually see the bikes on the road.
Desnoes & Geddes Limited | $20 per Month
Bio: Desnoes and Geddes Limited is a Jamaican brewer and beverage producer. It was formed in 1918 by Eugene Peter Desnoes and Thomas Hargreaves Geddes, who combined their two shops into one business. (via Wikipedia)
Bob Marley Museum | $10 per Month
Bio: The Bob Marley Museum is a museum in Kingston, Jamaica, dedicated to the reggae musician Bob Marley. It's his former place of residence. (via Wikipedia)
I've also now started to look at finding a main sponsorship, but nobody is really interested at this point. Many people are still very skeptical, even the Jamaican Cycling Federation won't give us a discount on obtaining a license at this point, regularly $2,500. Without that we can't apply to be in the CT Tour next season.
For now, make sure you help finalize the squad and choose a jersey option.

How about the bikes? Is there maybe a local bike brand which is willing to sponsor us? or are the riders just using their own bikes for now? |

Equipment is very much still a work in progress. There aren't really any local bike brands in Jamaica that I could find, but if you have a suggestion or stumble across something you think I should check out. Let me know.
