Great stage today aswell. The giro has been a joy from start to finish
Landa getting sick and pulling off was probably the best thing that could happen to open this giro up. Now Kruijswijk is that strong, it looks to not be a close one either way

And Kruijwijk finishing 2nd for the third stage in a row. No stage win yet, with 2 other second places last year.
If the GC was closer then I could of seen him getting a stage win but now that he has that gap I can see breakaways being let go in the mountain stages and nobody willing to pull them back to give Kruijwijk a chance at a stage win

Valverde lives on Sierra Nevada when he's not racing.

Finally some real cycling, great stage...
Sorry for Urán, he's not a GC contender, he should focus on short races or maybe one-day races...
Like last year, he suffering from bronchitis. Hopefully he will recover and go for a stage win. |

I told you Kruijswijk is only getting stronger in a 3rd week. You aren't gonna beat him by straight out attcking.. And certainly not like this. Nibali is such an idiot sometimes. They chose completely the wrong tactic.
I don't mind though. Valverde will now ride to keep his podium and Nibali will only try to get on the podium. Same for Chaves to keep his podium. |

Given he usually doesn't race Tirreno, MSR or the Giro this wouldn't surprise me.

Everything has come together perfectly for him this Giro and he's certainly taken his chance to win a GT very impressively, he has a big enough of a gap that if he does have a bad day he can limit his losses and still keep his lead. It's always good to see someone who isn't a big name win a GT (okay not Horner, that was more comical than good)

What...
The only thing that would work was if Nibali and/or Valverde was able to bridge up to a teammate on the other side of Mendolapass (after a rest day). They couldn't drop Kruijswijk, but got Chaves instead. So they decided to continue.
This is the only way you can beat him. Attack, attack, attack. They don't know how Kruijswijk is feeling, its a short stage after a rest day, he may have a 'day without'. You don't win if you don't try.
I get more and more respect for Nibali everyday. He probably knows he doesnt have it, but he tries and gives us a spectacle. What a racer and what a heart. |

I can't belive it either, which usually means something else. But then again, I'll rather have him winning than Zakarin. |
