So i'm looking for a couple of suggestions for new cycling-related books. I've now read my collection and will need a few new ones to get me through the summer. So, Daily members, got any recommendations?

Half-Man, Half-Bike by William Fotheringham - All about the man, the myth the legend: Eddy Mercx. I have also read Tyler Hamilton's autobio as well as Wiggo's. That's about it |

Have you read Matt Rendell's books? They're really good, reading his biography on Pantani now, but Blazing Saddles is my personal favourite and Kings of Mountains looks quite good.
'The Rider' by Tim Krabbe is amazing as well but really short, so maybe not the best to get you through the summer. There's also one of the biography's of Merckx I read, can't remember who by but really good.
Aside from that the rest of my collection's Australian themed or not that great so I'm interested in anybody else's suggestions.

I've got "Half Man, Half Bike" already, as Fotheringham goes i've got most of his but might get his book on Tom Simpson. I don't think i could stomach Hamiltons. Wiggins can suck a c*ck.
Pantani i've thought about. I like Matt Rendell so that's a good idea!
My list of books ain't half bad. "Half Man, Half Bike", "Fallen Angel", "Roule Britannia", "We Were Young and Carefree", "The World According to G", "The Racer", "On The Road Bike", "101 Damnations", "Racing Through the Dark", "At Speed", "How I Won The Yellow Jumper", "Shadows On The Road", "The Loyal Lieutenant" and "Open Heart, Open Mind" and "Sex, Lies and Handelbar Tape"

"Bernard Hinault, The Fall and the Rise of French Cycling" is my recommendation. Really, really enjoyed that one! |

To save off-topic'ing the Giro threads anymore:
I have apologised to Riis for making a joke. There was no offence or malice intended in it or in any previous joke post i made.

Still. You should've known better.
A joke is not something you just throw in there. It was a bit careless on your part.
But glad to see you came to your senses in time!
Hope you can kick the habit and stay joke-free. |

We saw how it's re-introduction went, so no. Safer to just let it go and only joke with those on here i know and only then with caution. It's just not worth the trouble otherwise.
Edit: Cleaned the double-post for you whilst i was here

Gironimo by Tim Moore. He tries to do the Giro 1913- on a Hirondelle and in a cap.

The Geraint book to read will be the one a few years after he leaves Sky. When he gets talking about the team it sounds a lot like those sections were written by a PR guy and become pretty dull.
The rest of the book is good because Geraint does have personality, unlike most Sky riders, but lacks some of the emotion or the challenges that make other cyclists so interesting. His accounts are still good and the book doesn't get too bogged down or slow like some biographies can become.
I'd recommend picking it up provided you are a Sky fan, if you dislike/hate Sky i'd give it a skip until he's left them.
