Welbeck out for 9 months Sad

On a slightly funnier note the Welsh FA are hoping Joe Ledley will recover from his injury in time for the Euro's. He's only broken his leg Smile Just put some ice on it and run it off Smile

Rashford over Defoe or Caroll, wth are you doing Roy?! Just don't put him in the 23-man final selection, for the love of god.
Andros Townsend is a surprise but he's been in good form. Last time a Championship player made the England team?....

I would cut Heaton, Rashford and Wilshere. Heaton cause we're never gonna need a 3rd GK, Rashford is just too young and won't get played unless we're 2-0 up having qualified from the Group. Wilshere just won't get to peak fitness or form in time, he's great but it's too late a return.

Great mix of young and inexperienced playesr alongside lon-term internationals. But it's England so we won't get beyond QF's at best.

If either Rashford, Carroll or Defoe was in the squad, none of them would make the 23. Rashford will be more of an asset in the future, so might as well give him the experience of being in a pre-tournament squad.

Pretty sure its a requirement to have 3 keepers, so Heaton might have to stay

Not sure why you'd let Wilshere home. He's their best midfielder

England's 11 should be: Hart - Clyne, Cahill, Smalling, Rose - Dier, Wilshere, Milner, Alli - Kane, Sturridge.

But Hodgson has a problem cause Rooney is skipper so he can't be left out of the starting 11.

You leave Wilshere out because he's only made 3 appearences all season and only just made 1 start since he broke his leg! Picking him over Noble was a disgrace, starting him would be litteraly criminal.

Rooney should easily start as a False 9 position, dropping in a a deep lying second striker role. Allow Kane or Vardy to sit forwards on the central defenders, Rooney in the gap behind the midfield. Get Alli pushing forwards with Dier and Milner/Henderson/Drinkwater sitting deep covering the defence. Sterling out wide using his Pace to drive at the defence.

It's what England has best, playmakers and fast runners. Get the fast boys running and the playmakers opening the gaps for them to run into. Pair with one or two covering midfielders to support the shaky defence. Play an asymetric 4-1-3-2

That looks like and incredible bad team relative to what they have had in the past, holy fuck.

I bet it does better then the pre-Madonna's like Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand & Terry etc. They were a group of individuals out for themselves. If this group of players plays as a team then we've got a chance of going far.

For the first time in years we've got a genuine goal-scorer in Kane. We've got probably the fastest team in the tournament and in Alli and Barkley we've got two young exciting midfielders who could genuinely be stars of the tournament.

Also there is no real expectation in England. This team can play with no pressure. As long as they play well then we will be happy. If we win our group, which we should do, then we should have a relatively straight forward run to the quarters and even then should play Portugal if all goes to form. The semi-Finals are a very realistic goal for us I think.

The German team was also announced yesterday. 4 still need to be cutted.

Goalkeepers: Neuer, Leno, Ter Stegen
Defenders: Boateng, Can, Hector, Howedes, Hummels, Mustafi, Rudy, Rudiger
Midfielders: Bellarabi, Brandt, Draxler, Gotze, Khedira, Kimmich, Kroos, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Weigl
Forwards: Muller, Podolski, Reus, Sane, Schurrle, Gomez

In general a few surprises but not the biggest ones.

Does anybody know if Lukas Podolski by now is some kind of running gag? He is still there despite not really showing great performances for quite some time now. Definitely beyond his best for at least 3-4 years now.

Players that miss and surely had hoped to be there are Kramer, Ginter, Schmelzer, Durm, Kruse, Volland, Trapp, Zieler, Tah...
Therefore some younger like Kimmich, Weigl, Sane or Brandt totally deserve to get a chance there. Hope none of those 4 will be cutted.

Hoping that Podolski, Rudy, Schweinsteiger and Sane get cutted, they don´t have the quality/fitness for the European Championship yet/anymore. Mostly missed are Andre Hahn, Lars Bender and Marcel Schmelzer. It´s also a surprise to see Castro not in there.
I would´ve loved to see the young guys at Olympia instead of the EC, but that´s Jogis decision...

The German first 11 is immense but I think there are definite weaknesses in the back up players, as possibly shown by England's recent 3-2 win when they absolutely destroyed Germany in the last 30 minutes. If the likes of Bastian & Podolski get in then it will show even more the lack of depth in the squad.

I can't believe the quality players that Spain have left out. Moreno, Bellerin, Mata, Cazorla, Costa, Torres, Alcacer. They would all walk into most other squads at the Euro's. Their forward line of Pedro, Morata, Aduriz, Nolito & Vazquez is quite weak when you look at who has been left out. I know Spain are famous for playing without a striker but those 5 don't really strike fear into opposition defences like Muller, Lewandowski, Greizman and Ronaldo do. I think Spain could really struggle again, like they did at the World Cup, with no world class striker. I don't see where the goals are coming from.

Podolski is just there for keeping the mood in the team high, while Schweinsteiger is a still important leader. In the last years Löw always showed that he's good in making the players fit on point, thats one of the positives i see.
Still wonder why Rudy, Can or Kimmich are there.

No Miroslav Klose. Sad

Although he retired from international football a long time ago, it feels a little strange not to see him in the German team. He is one of the few pro football players I really like, although I've only followed him during the big tournaments and don't know much about him. Does anyone know if he will retire this summer?

Chances are high he will play another year in the German Bundesliga next year. Just not sure which club as previous rumours of Bremen or Frankfurt are not true.

Also the US League seems to offer him a contract obviously.
