If Fuglsang finishes ahead of Nibali I get an avatar of your choice.

A few people in this thread are already making assumptions on riders, i'm simply pointing out that it is still to early |

Yes and Dumoulin said he only run for time trials.
Do you really think that everything they say is true ? |

indeed. If he is not to far behind then. Still it was strange attack ..rider who will be weak at the usually hides he's current condition as far as possible and wont attack.
I still wont make any conclusions who is great ..who isn't. It is just to early for that. |

Dombrowski subtlety stayed in the front group all the way up while protecting Uran.

I still reckon he looked hunger flat as he crossed the line, Astana wouldn't be putting time on the front if Nibali wasn't feeling good and he wouldn't of attacked if he didn't think he had the legs even if the call came over the team radio to do so. Yesterdays climb wasn't a tough one as we can see by the size of the group and time gaps as they crossed the line, I still think Nibali is the favourite for this race

Sometimes we see the riders who are not 100% sure about there good day to attack relatively early, so they have some headstart and wont loose ton of time later, i think this was the case, or he really though Dumoulin is in trouble.
Anyway for me, Nibali is still the biggest favourite, he will be there when it matters. Zakarin too, looks great, same as Majka, i am rooting for him.

Majka is flying under the radar that's for sure, he must be feeling good as Tinkof did have Boaro omn the front on that final climb for a little bit and he did charge up the last kilometre looking strong, he can hold his own in the TT and you'd think the MTT would be good for him. Uran is also looking good and seems to have a team dedicated to him with Simon Clarke a good road captain and a couple of climbers to help him out

Yep, Urán will be very dangerous, as i rate him as biggest favourite for that hilly TT, he can be right behind Dumoulin after that stage and always is a podium threat at Giro, but i dont think he can ever win it, there are always one or two better guys.

I think if Uran is ever going to win a Giro it's this one, the route suits and the fovourites aren't outright favourites

Nibali will be doing fine later..80% sure for that.
Landa is huge question mark there. He was great before the Giro..
As much I like the guy Dumoulin wont keep up. I also should stand behind my statement that Tom is not GT rider...at least yet.
Maika will do fine. He knows how to suffer.
All my great hopes (one of my favorite rider at this Giro) ..but Hesjedal best days are over.
Zakarin is scary man ..he can do anything. But nobody will trust him. Same Taaramäe told that Zakarin is great guy..and it feels like working for a friend.
And there is also Kruijswijk, Valverde, Uran, Chaves, Pozzovivo.
Damn it will be fun giro as usual. |

Landa is having problem with allergies. With that in mind, he hasn't lost significant amount of times on stages 4 and 6 where he clearly suffered. Needs to get through stages 8 and 9 which are the most difficult for Landa.
He needs 2 stages to make his mark, presumably stages 14 and 20. Leave them in the dust like last year. Hopefully he will be as strong.
Fuglsang was crazy strong. Nibali crying over attacking in a headwind, but his teammate was out in front for 14 kilometres and didnt seem to have as much of a problem. Pathetic excuses from Nibali, also blaming the team car, but at least Nibali has always been outspoken and I can respect that. Especially his comments in the wake of the cancellation of the mountain stage in T-A was right on the money.
Valverde looks like he did in the Tour 2015. I had expected him to come out guns blazing in the first week, on the hilly terrain, but he didn't. Instead, he showed up in the 3rd week of the superbly hard ridden Alp stages day in and day out. My hope is he will do the same this year - this time, his competition isn't Froome/Quintana, but a level under.
Still the 3 favourites to me. Nibali and Valverde will go incredibly fast in Chianti and the first week will be forgotten. |
