Dont forget you cant just make a route whatever you like. it has to also include logistics stuff, alternative routes for team staff, media etc and finally the place where the stage is finishing needs to accomodate all the riders without ridiculous transfers.
But its a long topic. My view is that I like this years Giro route. Giro used to have inhuman routes recently. |

Which is one of the reason I have criticised the Giro for starting in NL. You get a loooong transfer and one extra rest day.
I like the Giro route as well. Its very good, but with an opening week like last year, it would obviously have been a notch better. |

Surely all three were always going to lose big chunks of time anyway so losing it early means if they have the legs they can go out in some breaks

I see Riis is also rocking the Rasmussen avatar on CN. Me thinks next it's Mochema time for him.

Of course I do, but its soon to be changed to a pink Valverde-one and later, obviously, a yellow one of Quinco. Aight aight? |

Well, why should anyone push at a climb, 80km from the finish?

To drop Kittel and get the Pink Jersey? To soften Kittel's legs so he is less dominant in a sprint finish? |

Plus,I at least expected them to do a pace that dropped Kittel.
Also in 2013 TDF Cannondale did a hard pace on stage 7 and none of Cav,Kittel and Grepiel was in the front group at the end.And Sagan won the stage.
Still pretty sure that Kittel will get dropped though. |

Did people honestly expect Kittel to win today? He will make it back to the peloton again but he will get dropped again before the finish
Hells 500 Crew and 6 x Everester
Don Rd Launching Place
Melbourne Hill Rd Warrandyte
Colby Drive Belgrave South
William Rd The Patch
David Hill Rd Monbulk
Kittel FTW

Kittel to take this in a reduced peloton! Can't see him getting dropped here.
These are just 2 examples.A few more said that Kittel would win as well.
Though I don't think he will win. |
