Kittel is closer and is the better sprinter with the better team. I would love to see it but I doubt that Hofland will close to pink as long as Kittel is in play. (combined with me thinking he won't even gets boni seconds, I don't have the faith)
Yeah I hadn't Kittel's exact time in my mind. |

GC guys time differences (well I wouldn't include Dumoulin as a GC guy)
Dumoulin
Roglic
Nibali +19
Geniez +21
Kruijswijk +22
Valverde +24
Chaves +30
Zakarin +32
Hesjedal +33
Uran +33
Majka +38
Péraud +38

Why wouldn't you include him as a GC guy? After that performance in the Vuelta, he may not be the number 1 favourite to win but discounting him doesn't make much sense (especially as you also put Roglic there )

And Uran did bad as well.Pretty disappointing by Majka as well.Bu then againUran didn't show good form in ITTs this year and Majka is pretty inconsistent on ITTs
Also Pozzo will probably be AG2R's leader not Peraud. |

Because he will get dropped in the big mountains, he's done absolutely no altitude training leading into the Giro, everything he's done and said is all about TT's this year so I think he will be up there for a while but will by the 3rd week he will lose big time.
Roglic can climb so yeah who knows with him

Ah, right. Still I'd put him there as a GC contender until he actually hasn't gone for it

Uran is overrated in TT's, look at his results and 2014 was an outlier

Thank fuck. No point in trying to get GC's for Tom. |

Thanks, good post.
I would look past Tom Dumounlin's bullshit, he is definitely trying to ride the GC. |

It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Is he really just "going for the TT's" as he's stated pre race or merely deflecting a bit of pressure.
From the little I know of the route many of the stage finishes aren't the toughest gradients and of course there are less summit finishes too. If all goes according to plan he could be in pink after the hilly (though not as hilly as it looks at first glance) TT on stage 9 and then who knows?
Equally he could be out the back the second we hit a 3km+ climb |

does Roglic need boni seconds to take pink or can he finish ahead of Dumoulin and take the jersey? (ignoring all other riders)

This is exactly my point, you can't say that he's not a favourite just because he claims he isn't trying to win, you're allowed to say different things to what you actually intend, so perhaps he just wants to keep the pressure off him.
