Why did Quintana even complain? FroomeLite.exe blown him away in the sprint. If he had any decency he would just concede the stage win....

Robbie McEwen's joined the list calling it a ridiculous decision and seeing the linked head on video (can't link the tweet right now) it really is nothing. What is it with race juries?

Now I'm no fan of Zakarin but if you come second just throw your hands in the air and you've got half a chance Grin

Don't agree with the call. Maybe they could have given him a penalty of 4 sec (which would have put him at even with Quintana) to adress his out of control swing with the bike. But for sure he would have won anyway, so i think it's a bit over the top, to take the win away from him.

Just my two cents Wink

I think this is the right way to go maybe even if it is unorthodox. As much as I love Nairo he was going to be beaten, but Zakarin did deviate and take Quintana's line.

11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

He instinctively threw is hands in the air after after Zaka deviated from his line, thats all. Show me one rider who wouldn't react like that, its not that he filed a complaint after, its a simple reaction at 180 heartrate. Disagree with the call, but please, please, dont blame Nairo Quintana. Thats just pathetic.

If I was getting overtaken like that I wouldn't throw my hands up because Zakarin's line change doesn't affect my sprint in any way because I was already beaten. That's how I see it. Momentum was with Zakarin. Just pathetic decision fueled by an overreaction.

Sitting by a PC and saying that is one thing, another thing is the heat of the moment. Everybody, and I mean, everybody, would have reacted like that in a sprint after a very hard ridden mountain stage.

Play the ball, not the man. Pathetic how this decision can fuel people's anti-Nairo agenda.

Pinot won TT. Guess he's back in TT form now. Lapierre bikes really are magic.

He's been solid in the TT for a while now and is seldom outside the top 20 on any but yeah another step up. This year at various levels of races and on a variety of TT courses reads:

2nd, 12th, 19th 1st, 6th, 1st.

Impressive!

Yeah. I expected it from Formolo to be honest but not the others. ironically, Talansky finished better then all of them but he's been nowhere to be seen on a mountain in almost 2 years now.

I think Uran in particular is going for the steady, unspectacular build up to the Giro again this year that served him so well in 2013 and 2014. Last year he was better earlier in the season and that didn't work out so well. So I guess he's just building here.

Rolland is still getting used to his 10% gains. Give it time.

That doesn't explain why his TT performance today was so much much worse than his climbing yesterday.
Well, his TT is really, really poor this season. He was 125th in TT in Tirreno and 94th in Algarve, while he finished inside top30 in every TT between 2013-2015 apart from 2013 Tour de Pologne (40th), 2014 Tirreno (43th) and 2015 WC ITT (51th).

So his best TT performance at Cannondale is still like 20 places worse than his worst TT performance from the previous 3 years.

Too much weight loss? Cannondale's TT equipment doesn't serve him well?

Extremely disappointing showing by Uran. I have no clue about whats going on, he seemed like the best of the rest yesterday almost, at some points animating the chase. I don't know how you possibly can explain his performance today, maybe a mechanical or a crash? Haven't read any news, that could be the case, but I would expect you to be on top of that.

Anyways... the 3 TT's in the Giro are deceptive; one prologue, one semi long hilly TT and a mountain ITT. You can get away with not time trialling well, but I wouldn't have expected to say that about Urán. One thing is for sure, if he ever dreamt of winning the Giro, he needs to gain 1-2 minutes on Nibali/Valverde and 3-4 on Landa on those two ITTs and that seems like a goner. Top-3 at the very best without a time trial for Rigo

Maybe we are overrating Urans TT ability, he had a standout 2014 in TT's but he didn't have any notable results prior or after 14 other than a 6th in the 13 Giro but that was a MTT and winning his NC TT in 15 but he really had no opposition.
