Matthews a creditable 21st place.

Yeah he really is a quality rider, if only Gerrans wasn't so selfish he could of won Amstel
Matthews is almost as bad as Gerrans.

I don't think Gerrans is the main problem.

Yeah,Gerrans is even worse in that aspect.
Matthews clearly doesn't have the racing instincts though imo.

Matthews is clearly the better bet at AGR at this point, Gerrans IS the problem. He is incredibly selfish.

The way I've understood it is that Gerrans worked for Matthews, but then Matthews refused to work for Gerrans and since they have had a sour relationship and + Matthews seems too arrogant.

I would just blame Orica management to be honest. They can't solve problems between two riders, don't make the choice to drop one of them in the offseason and then they just give them co-leadership for the big races. It's like the Spanish fiasco at the 2013 worlds.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Back to FW results, Woods seems to be on a for him Greta 12th place, also Latour finished as 19th. Nice results for him.

Not bad for Woods first FW. It'll be interesting to see how he goes in L-B-L plus it's good for Cannondale to have another option beyond Slagter (36th today).

What is with Purito? Seems to that age has just caught him up. Or poor early season?

He's been declining for a little while now which really isn't a surprise

Yeah 37 years old is enough. But in Vuelta 2015 he was still really impressive on those punchy climbs I would say that maybe the strongest rider of that field. I am wondering when Valverde is going to start decline Grin

Poels finally good in a classics kind of race. Hopefully he can confirm in LBL. With Henao out of the question and Kwiatkowski with no form, he should be leader of Sky

Kirchen_75
I dont really see anyone beating Valv.Piti in LBL either. Unless Alaphilippe can somehow outsprint him.

He can still, he had a bad day today. Just as Valverde had a bad day at clip above.

Valverde din't have a bad day that day. There was a big split in the peloton with about 20 kms to go after Astana made an echelon. Valverde closed the 30 second gap between the two pelotons there alone and lost some energy that Purito and Froome didn't spend.
