Would you mind explaining this? Sayar is not earning as much money as those. And I believe Contador,Froome and Nibali are doping. While they live a great life because of being in a team that is being protected Sayar is on a team which can't even dope apparently and is a target.
And once a small rider tests positive his career is almst over. Not the case with Contador though. |

They also had better lives than Sayar.

Rumour that Sagan wants even more than at Tinkoff. 6.7 mio.
We should call him $agan from here on out, hehe right guys?
Along with Trek – Segafredo, teams Etixx – Quick-Step, BMC Racing, and Giant – Alpecin could be interested in Sagan. Of course, money is an issue. Even at 4 million euro ($4.51 million), general manager Patrick Lefevere does not know if he can afford having Sagan in his Etixx team.
“Four million is 20 percent of my budget, and that does not even include the entourage he would bring,” Lefevere told Het Laatste Nieuws. He added that Mike Sinyard, Specialized founder and president, called to talk about keeping Sagan on his bikes and wearing Etixx’s blue colors.
[...]
Trek manager: “He has a strong image so he can go to the market with those numbers. A grand tour rider goes only one month or so, but a classics rider goes in April and then goes again in a grand tour where he can win some stages. Sagan, even in a stage race, brings high visibility. So it makes sense that he asks for big money.”
"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V

That number comes from Lefevere. And there is only one rule in cycling. You should never believe anything Lefevere says.

I don't really know how i feel about Sagan possibel joining Etixx. I think i would like him better on a team were there weren't so many different interest. |

Eixx has some east-european sponsors. If they can get Sagan, they'll add budget.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Whatever he demands, its pretty much worth. Without a doubt the most marketable, visible and also the best rider in the peloton. Its not often those guys come around, you just gotta stake a swing and bring Kittel along for Star Elektratoer, Tour of Denmark and other shit races so make space. |

I don't think he is worth more than he is currently getting paid, what if he gets injured? You would have to make cuts in other places which weakens a team overall.
Also why does he want more? He certainly doesn't need it so it's greed plain and simple which is sad and pathetic

There is nothing wrong with trying to earn as much as you possibly can. And as long as that happens in a legal way there is nothing immoral about it.

I dont agree, if he is worth that much, which I think he is, then why not collect the pay check? You never know what will happen in the future.
When that's said, I hope he opts for Trek or something similar. Exixx would be dominating too much |

Segafredo insist on having an Italian in the team (Nibali) and considering that Sep Vanmarcke is a cheaper option I think the team will try everything to presuade Nibali to join and for the classics to take Vanmarcke. Sagan and Cancellara are two way different riders - if he joins Trek (hopefully not) Sagan will have big shoes to fit in. And what benefits other than marketing will have there?
Considering EQS,Lefevere is not a fan of riders demanding big pay checks - look at how he tired to presuade Cavendish to lower his demands, but Cav didn't budge. Surely the sallary will be an issue once Sagan starts negotiations. And let's not forget Kittel who is targeting the green jersey and 2017 TDF will start in Germany.
BMC? Well, Sagan won't join them since they already have a leader in the form of Greg Van Avermaet.
Giant-Alpecin seems like highly unlikely long shot. What is the budget of this team?

It's greed so is immoral, I never said it wasn't legal (well good chance he dopes like most of the others so maybe it's against the rules of the sport) so I don't have and argument on that side of things but there is a problem with trying to earn as much as possible, it's not good for the greater good. I could earn more money than I do but I don't need to do that so I don't. Nothing about greed is a good thing

These are the money from rich companies and various millionares we are talking here. So why should not they pay a lot to a guy who earns them the TV time and fame? There is hardly somebody more interesting for sponsors and fans in cycling next to Sagan, so he should earn the most he can. I see him doing a lot of stuff for promoting cycling among kids in Slovakia and other "charity" stuff, i dont think he would ask for more for pure greed.
You are the best, you want to earn the most you can, that is professionalism off the bike. I would not put it into comparsion where some guy who earned billions need to earn more billions, that is greed.
Also i would wait with judging,as these are just speculations...

GVA is on the market for probably half of what $agan demands and would suit Etixx more than $agan with Kittel and Gaviria already there.
Although id imagine BMC will be desperate to keep him since Phil is leaving. |

I was thinking GVA and Etixx would be a good match and would be cheaper than Sagan, BMC might want to keep him but in reality they are a more of a stage racing focused team so if GVA gets a good offer I doubt they will dig to deep to match it.

I don't completely disagree and understand why he might want more money but it just shits me, people are never satisfied when it comes to money
