Bye lakebeach
Being from the states, it was pretty easy to tell it was Zona or Utah so I went with Northern Arizona as a safe bet. Didn't even spend 5 mins on this one and thats the first I truly just "guessed"

Meh that part of America looks all the same so it was really guessing this time around, good that I didn't fail that much either. Afirm is basically consistency!

Thought it looked familiar somehow, but since I didn't recognise it I decided to go just outside the range of where I've been. Turns out I should have focussed a bit more on the east. Never knew it looked like that that close to Moab

The penultimate round of Season 2 and there is still a lot to play for. Brewer's misery continues to rise as he keeps getting dropped off in the wilderness like a young Bear Grylls. Where is he this time?

You have until Tuesday afternoon. No specific deadline as the interest has been really dropping as of late, so just please send it as soon as you can.

The penultimate round was another tough challenge with very little in the way of clues. The only help was the giant city in front of you which has a very 'region-specific' look to it. Also, the fact that there's no water anywhere near and mountains overlooking the city should have helped. It also looks like a warm but relatively wet place. It's clearly not a desert. But apart from that, this was a test of geographical instinct, which is what this game is supposed to be. So, where did you all go for?
| The Rider | BrasÃlia, Brazil | | Bjartne | Quito, Ecuador | | Marcovdw | Haifa, Israel | | Bikex | Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, Mexico | | matt17br | Lagos, Nigeria | | afirm | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | | jseadog1 | Krasnoyarsk, Russia | | AbhishekLFC | Dubai, UAE | | lakebeach | Realengo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | | Selwink | Belém, Pará, Brazil | | Ian Butler | GüÃmar, Tenerife, Spain |
Brazil was, unsurprisingly, the most popular answer with four people, including the leader afirm, being in the South American country. What was surprising was how varied the other answers were. From Latin American countries Ecuador and Mexico to the middle of nowhere in Russia, the Mediterranean coast in Israel and even the desert in Dubai. lakebeach was once again just a few kilometres from afirm in Rio. Newcomer Ian Butler was very outside the box in the Canary Islands but nowhere near as far outside the box as jseadog1, who thinks this is in the freezing cold Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk. With both of the top two in South America, is the round going by form? Let's find out where Brewer was.
Why so many people were near the sea, I'll never know. This was in the heart of Brazil, overlooking the vast, modern city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. With nobody in the correct city or even state, who was closest? Bear in mind that if afirm outscores Bjartne by 30 points or more, the game is over barring a correct answer in the final round.
| lakebeach | 328 | | afirm | 336 | | The Rider | 641 | | Selwink | 2120 | | Bjartne | 4355 | | matt17br | 5952 | | Ian Butler | 6128 | | Bikex | 6895 | | Marcovdw | 10217 | | AbhishekLFC | 11842 | | jseadog1 | 14653 |
Well, that 8 kilometres was pretty important for lakebeach, who returns to his Season 1 form by taking his first individual win this Season. afirm may be gutted but I'm sure he'll be comforted by the fact that he gains 45 points on Bjartne and just about wraps up the title. The Rider's answer of Brasilia was the best in my opinion but is a lot further away than Rio. Selwink was in the right country but at the wrong end, while Bjartne's answer goes to show how big South America is. Quito was not that much closer than Lagos in Nigeria! jseadog1 loses all the ground he made on lakebeach in the last round straight away by being the best part of 15000km away.
With just one round to go, here is how the table looks:
| # | Name | Rounds | Wins | Kms | Avg | Points | | 1 | afirm | 9 | 5 | 12476 | 1386.2 | 1000 | | 2 | Bjartne | 9 | 5 | 8049 | 894.3 | 885 | | 3 | Marcovdw | 9 | 4 | 27618 | 3068.7 | 796 | | 4 | MARSUPILAMI | 6 | 4 | 17051 | 2841.8 | 729 | | 5 | Waghlon | 5 | 3 | 1451 | 290.2 | 670 | | 6 | lakebeach | 9 | 3 | 20259 | 2251 | 605 | | 7 | jseadog1 | 9 | 2 | 38662 | 4295.8 | 562 | | 8 | matt17br | 9 | 2 | 58458 | 6495.3 | 559 | | 9 | AbhishekLFC | 9 | 2 | 57809 | 6423.2 | 487 | | 10 | Selwink | 8 | 2 | 23247 | 2905.9 | 483 | | 11 | The Rider | 9 | 1 | 40829 | 4536.6 | 431 | | 12 | PeterRyder | 7 | 1 | 48069 | 6867 | 295 | | 13 | trekbmc | 2 | 1 | 195 | 97.5 | 107 | | 14 | Bikex | 2 | 0 | 7302 | 3651 | 71 | | 15 | Dippofix | 1 | 0 | 681 | 681 | 55 | | 16 | Luxemburger | 4 | 0 | 22636 | 5659 | 41 | | 17 | jihardy | 3 | 0 | 15965 | 5321.7 | 31 | | 18 | Ian Butler | 1 | 0 | 6128 | 6128 | 20 | | 19 | jandal7 | 2 | 0 | 33200 | 16600 | 16 |
So, that 75 points takes afirm to exactly 1000 points, an incredible total with one round still to come. Bjartne can still beat him of course but he needs to find the next location to do it. Marcovdw has pretty much wrapped up third unless the two below him return. There are two great battles still going on at this late stage: jseadog1 and matt17br are just three points apart and both can still catch lakebeach before the end. AbhishekLFC and Selwink are now just four points apart and The Rider is still trying to chase them down for a top ten finish too. Ian Butler hops straight above jandal7 and in doing so, avoids the wooden spoon, which jandal7 seems to be collecting.
It would be awesome if everybody that took part in this season could enter the last round to make it as competitive as possible. Everyone except PeterRyder would have something to play for so go on. The final round will begin tomorrow and last until Sunday, when the final results will be announced.

Now that I think about it, that obviously was Brazil
Also yes I'm very aware of the presence of water near Lagos, but really my sight sucks and those mountians looked like water. Yes I didn't bother enlarging the pic

Congrats, Lakebeach!
Hopefully this means me getting the title. Lets hope the last one will be difficult to pinpoint, otherwise I guess Bjartne will spend those four days searching through the whole world. |

Wow, just 8 km better than afirm, a bit of luck there.
Also, more than 14000 km away from jseadog, what happened there? |

City surrounded by jungle - so Brasilia came to mind for me. Not too far away either. Not too shabby: for that round at least! |

I did not feel like putting in the effort this time so I just slapped it in Russia because of where we have already been this season
