Best part of the race today for me was definitely the madness on the Koppenberg-Maria Borrestraat-Steenbeekdries-Taaienberg combo. Absolute madness, no one had any idea what was happening. Groups and riders split all over the place without any space or cameras to get any overview. No control at all. That was great, really enjoyed that.
Also can't really remember something similar happening on that stretch since the new route.

First time in 11 years that Erviti finishes inside the top50!
Do you guys reckon he can contend next season?
The entire race I was thinking, has there ever been a more mediocre rider on a WT team for as long as he has been? I cannot think of anything he has done apart from ride in breaks.

Garcia Acosta, Pablo Lastras, Imanol Erviti. You need those guys. There is a reason Erviti is selected over and over at Le Tour |

Yeah hard working and loyal teammates are a must for a team to be successful, don't see how anybody could call him mediocre

The first two are both better riders tho. Every team needs selfless teammates but I dont think he is all that great at anything, hes just really average at everything, dont get me wrong he isnt bad either just he isnt going to be setting the pace on mountains nor is he going to lead out for sprinters, or if he is there are loads of better options.
IMO, Jose Ivan Gutierrez was a much better version of Erviti, great on the flats, good climber, great TTer and always a strong breakaway rider too.

What are you on about? It's been a great classics season so far, good quality hard racing with a good selection of riders in top form.

There is more to being a good domestique than sitting on the front setting the pace, someone has to fetch the water bottles and other donkey work, make sure his leader is in a good position in the peloton and so on. Just because we don't see him a whole lot on the TV doesn't mean he isn't in the group doing exactly what his team requires of him

Lets be honest here, literally anyone can grab bottles. The other donkey work Im sure he's good at, maybe even better than most, my point is, that stuff isn't exactly the hard part of being a support rider, Carlos Sastre was known as being a great teammate he would often drop back and grab bottles for his teammates, even though he was often the leader for his team. Its important to have a rider dedicated to doing all that, and I respect Erviti for doing it his entire career.
My point was its not often a rider like him lasts as long as he has in the sport, and its actually great to see.

Well I'd love to see Sep win the race but rewatching Paterberg and Kwaremont, there was no other man who deserved it as much as 2agan that day. Glad he won in the World Champion jersey and not in that hideous Tinkoff-kit.
With Cance retiring, I think there'll be still great competition with a ton of belgian youngsters coming of age, most notably Benoot. However belgian riders have had their fair share of bad luck and mishaps in recent years so that always puts them back a bit (that said, Cance and 2agan have had bad luck, too in the past). Classics should be hard fought out, although 2agan is probably going to be the new master of the classic but we'll see.

You should rather put it over the Tinkoff name, not the stripes.
