Thanks everyone
@DiCyc: Bouhanni pulled away in the end with the others unable to keep up. Viviani did well!
@Tamijo: Always good to see our riders doing well at the WCs
@Jandal: Welcome back to the story. Landa is now a back-to-back Vuelta winner . Hope you can catch up with the rest of it...

Btw, those time differences you see in the results of the WC-RR are because of misplaced time bonuses put at the finish line . But he did pull away and win the sprint unchallenged.
Updates from races in the week following the WCs...
Milano - Torino
Sparkassen Munsterland Giro
Tour de l'Eurometropole

Il Lombardia
The early breakaway, consisting of 6 riders was caught soon after it was formed. A smaller 4 rider breakaway was then allowed to build up an 11 minute lead over the peloton. Ion Izagirre attacked before the second set of climbs, and covered the almost 7 minute gap to the breakaway. In the pack, this particular climb saw a few big names taking a tumble, including Betancur, Kwiatkowski, Zardini, Mullen and Ulissi. None of them were particularly harmed by it thankfully. Ion attacked his fellow breakaway riders on the slopes of the third set of climbs, 65 km from the finish. At that time, he had around a two and a half minute lead over the peloton. He could not sustain it though, and was swallowed up with just over 40 km to go. On the descent, the peloton split up into four, with Konig the lone Movistar representative in the lead group. After the descent, the first three groups merged to form a 30 man lead group. Movistar had all their riders barring Kreuziger in this. It was pretty assured at this point that the eventual winner would come out of this group of riders. With 20 km to go, the pack slowed down somewhat. Rafael Valls saw an opening and rode away from the pack in a high gear. On reaching the last climb, he put the hammer down, pulling further away from his rivals.
(Valls attacks on the last set of climbs, as Pinot tries to counter)
With 6km to go, at the top of the last climb, Valls had a 30" lead, with 7 riders, including Landa, Intxausti and Konig in the chase group. With 3 km left, Valls still had the same lead, but the chase group was down to 4 - Bongiorno, Aru, Rui Costa and Pinot - with the Movistar riders falling out of it. The chasers would not make the gap, and Valls crossed the line in 1st place, giving Movistar their third victory in this race in 5 years. Bongiorno won the sprint for 2nd, with Aru claiming 3rd. Intxausti managed a repeat of his 7th place finish from last year.
A perfect way to end this season's Monuments for the team, following up from the Vuelta win

Thank you both
@Tamijo: Yes, it was solo victory, despite the time gaps being wiped out. Doesn't reflect Valls's dominance!
@DiCyc: Valls's first big win since joining the team. Very strong the way in which he pulled away from the pack!
Updates from the last few races of the season...
Tour de Vendee
Paris-Bourges
Paris-Tours
Chrono des Nations
That wraps up the racing for this season. Transfer update coming up soon...

Nice races, and a great 1-2-3-4 finish at Chrono des Nations!
But Izagirre ahead of Malori and Dowsett? Must be a time glitch |

Not to mention Sutterlin, who has better overall stats than Dowsett! The latter is better in TTs though.
All I can say in defence of the game is that Ion was a 1 fitness wise, whereas Malori and Dowsett were 3 and 4 respectively. That might be a possible explanation

Transfer Round-Up
Movistar
Ins: Rafal Majka (AG2R), Julian Alaphilippe (Free Agent), Julian Arredondo (Scarpa), Manuel Moreno Capitan (U23 World Number 9, OVR 71, FTR 75, HIL 71)), Carlos Artime (Scouted Climber, 22, OVR 64, MON 67, FTR 70)
Outs: Mikel Nieve (IAM), Luis Leon Sanchez (IAM), Alex Dowsett (IAM), Enric Mercader (JLT Condor), Jesus Herrada (No contract)
The team were able to do good business in the transfer market. We signed two of our high priority targets very early in the transfer window. This was complimented by the capture of another strong domestique. The last two signings, both young riders, came about as a result of careful scouting. We are quite happy with the final result. The riders we are letting go include both youth and experience. Some of them have been with the team a long time, and have been excellent in their roles. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours. Presenting our new innings.
Rafal Majka is a tried and tested member of the peloton, with some big race wins to his name. He is more known for being a super-strong domestique for the team’s leaders. His signing has been done with one major goal in mind, which is to help Nairo reach the pinnacle at the Tour de France. He will also compete as a leader in a few selected races throughout the year.
Julain Alaphilippe was a free agent this season, which came as a shock to most. Boasting excellent skills for one-day races, as well as punchy sprints, he has been drafted in as a replacement for the excellent Luis Leon Sanchez. He will lead the team’s challenge through the Ardennes and autumn classics. He has an outside shot of a starting place at the Tour.
Julian Arredondo is another well-established name in the peloton. His signing is another case of replacing a long-serving domestique in our team, with the departure of Mikel Nieve. He will be at Nairo’s side through one or maybe two of the Grand Tours, in the latter’s quest for the GT treble.
Manuel Moreno Capitan is the most exciting talent to come out of Spain since Eustaquio Sanchez. We wasted no time in signing him, with our scouts having spotted his exploits in the U23s at an early stage. With good climbing and puncher stats, he should become an important member of the team.
Carlos Artime came to our notice by virtue of our Spanish scouting network. Having initially sponsored him, we decided to take him on-board, having seen his progress. We like the looks of him, and hopefully he will get better.
Other notable transfers
Chris Froome - Astana -> Sky
Alexander Kristoff - Giant-Alpecin -> Astana
Mark Cavendish - Dexia -> Orange
Daniel Martin - Orange -> Astana
Michal Kwiatkowski - AG2R -> Orica GreenEdge
Thibaut Pinot - Cofidis -> Orange
Rui Costa is unsigned next season!
A more detailed list of transfers is given in the following screenshots...
Chris Froome, once again, is the biggest talking point of the transfer window. After a very successful single season with Astana, he is now going back to Team Sky, in yet another shake-up in the peloton. As has become the norm, a lot of the top sprinters have switched teams. Other interesting changes would include AG2R losing three of their best riders in Majka, Kwiatkowski and Frank and Scarpa actually getting weaker despite their impending switch to the World Tour next year.

Thanks
It was a tough decision letting Nieve and Sanchez go. But it was getting to a point where they were no longer able to help the team out in their respective roles. Sad to see them go but the timing was right. They'll do better in their new team.

20120 SEASON OUTLOOK
Part 1
Last season was a definite improvement over the one before, as Movistar made up some of the ground they'd lost. In this season, the team has been set up to take a step further and win more than a single GT. With Nairo going after victories in all three GTs, the ambition is sky-high for both him and the team. A few carefully chosen additions should hold them in good stead. Finally, 2020 is also the year where Movistar bids goodbye to us as a sponsor. It has been a long and fruitful 9 years of partnership. We're looking forward to having our best season yet in their colours, and to make a successful transition to the next sponsor.
