Welcome to The Secret Pro.
This has nothing to do with the blogging secret pro, blowing all the dirty little secrets in the peloton. Well, perhaps I was inspired for the title of this game.
In 'The Secret Pro', two teams battle each other for the trophy. Each round, we are looking for a professional cyclist. I will be using Pro Cycling Manager 2015, Official Release Realname database. If you request so, I can put that particular database up for download, so you have the stats of the riders, to make sure.
Each round consists of 3 fases.
Fase 1: Yes/No
Both teams get to ask a yes/no question. Beware: the question and the answer are revealed in this thread before fase 2, so the other team gets as much information as yourself.
(examples: Does he ride for a WT team? Is he a climber? Is his AVG above 76? Is he a European?...)
Fase 2: Racing!
Both teams get to send in up to 5 stages/races they want. All 2015 WT and PCT races are possible (so the official cyanide races for season 1 in PCM 2015). This includes monuments, classics, WC, NC, TT...
These races get simulated, using PCM 2015. Your team gets the top 10 AND the placing of the Secret Pro. (in an exported table format, but obviously the secret pro's name will be 'The Secret Pro'
These results are not revealed in the forum and are for that team's eyes only.
Hint: You can also request the same race multiple times. eg if it's a cobbler you can ask for 2x RvV and 3x Paris - Roubaix. That ought to lead to different results and you can cross out many names already.
Fase 3: Guess who!
Here you can take the following steps.
10 pts: Guess the cyclist. If wrong:
5 pts: ask for the rider's nationality OR team OR ask another Y/N question (privately) and then guess the cyclist. If wrong:
2 pts: Get a hint. Guess the cyclist. If wrong:
0 pts.
So basically you get three guesses. If you're wrong, you always get some more information. After 3 guesses, you don't get any points.
Teams are not allowed to communicate with each other besides this thread. (Team-Team communication, that is. In one team, members can discuss all they want)
Every team appoints one secretary. This is the one handling all pm communication (so sending Y/N question, sending the races and receiving the race results)
A team is allowed a chat room or whatever means of communicating with each other, as long as it's private, for their eyes only.
A team can consist of up to 5 players.
A team member can be excluded from the game by a vote of 4-1 in his group (so members not contributing can be expelled from the game), a new member can then come in the game.
Extra: I'll be using cyclists most of us know. WT or some higher PCT riders. Cancellare, Quintana, Rolland, Bardet, Boonen, for example. Guys like Devolder, Langeveld, Coquard are all possible, too. Juraj Sagan, Mike Teunissen and Jerome Gilbert are less likely. No offence to those riders, they are still very capable pros, but they'd make this game too hard.
This will be a trial version. Let's start with one round and see what happens. There won't be any time pressure. You'll always have time to communicate with each other. Not weeks, of course, but I don't plan to rush this at all.
Any questions, just ask!
You can sign-up below, simply stating you want to play and stating which team you want to enter into.
There's only room for 10 players (to start with), so please only sign-up if you are serious about playing.
Team choices:
Team Coppi
Team Bartali
EDIT 1: Only riders with AVG 75 and higher will be used.
EDIT 2: Database can be found here
EDIT 3: Both teams are filled already. You can still sign up. Team Anquetil and Team Poulidor are open.

This sounds fun Although you are making me choose out of Coppi and Bartali... that is not a good thing to make me choose.
I'll join team Bartali, I think. Because apparently that is actually a real-life team.

I'm interested in joining team Coppi, but I'm not a fan of the vague "cyclists most of us know". Could you possible include a list of possible answers?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Is there any sort of plan of when this starts? I'll be extremely busy until thursday, but should have plenty of spare time afterwards.
If it starts when I have time (should be from thursday on) I'd like to join team Bartali

If there is enough/plenty of interest in this, I'll add more teams. Max 4 teams, though.
If Coppi and Bartali are full, I'll open up Team Anquetil and Team Poulidor.

There's no rush. We'll start when it's full.
But you have a team to count on if you're busy. As long as it's not for weeks, because then they'll vote you out |

Should've waited, could've finished second.

Great! 2 places left in Team Coppi, one in Team Bartali!
You can see both teams in post 2, by the way
Also, a member of his team is very welcome to make a banner for his group. Could be nice |

Why is Team Bartali on our team?
Also I'll make a Bartali banner if everyone's alright with that.

I'll join Team Coppi to even out the numbers a wee bit.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Also for clarification: the yes/no questions can be anything in the database. You could ask: is there an 'e' in his name? Is his potential higher than 7...
But, you could also ask about the real cyclist. Did he ever win a TDF stage... Just don't make it too hard on me, too (did he ever finish 27th in a Spanish race)
If I have to give a hint, it could be database related (nationality, his MO stat is 56,other things you can see in the database) or real cyclist related (eg he won a Giro stage in 2011)
