Idea: let the AI control your team during 3D races like any other AI team
Explaination: I know you can put all cyclists on 'automatic' instruction, but that does not give you the same behaviour as AI teams are managed. (one of the many examples: no sprint train will be setup for your top sprinter)
I want to be able to setup the pre-race tactic, and then have the AI manage your team just like it manages the other teams during the 3D race
Why: I want to be able to play my career as follows: sign riders, develop young riders, make the selection for each race, setup the tactic, do all the managing stuff, but in the 3D race, I want to be able to just watch how they are doing, without me influencing antyhing |

Hmm, but did you actually set up the pre-race tactic accordingly? I played three seasons recently with my riders on automatic and felt that my team behaved like an AI team. (PCM 14)
I never had much of a sprint train but just tried it playing a single flat opening stage of the TdF. I picked Giant-Shimano, selected Barguil as the captain with Craddock to help him in the mountains and then Kittel and his helpers. In the pre-race tactics screen I only selected Craddock to help Barguil (and unticked that Barguil should go for the stage win) and everybody else to help Kittel.
Here we are 13 km from the finish line:
And 5 km from the finish line. Note that I used the energy gel manually, I believe the AI (for your team and other teams) never uses it, so in a way it's a little cheat:
So we were the only team to form any sprint train (didn't help, Cav won ahead of Greipel, Kittel was third). Point is, I believe on automatic your riders do follow the instructions from the tactics screen. (Don't forget, you can change the tactics in 3D mode, too.)
Tell a free rider to attack and he'll try late in the stage (though usually with little success). On a mountain stage you can even tell a helper to join the early breakaway (by selecting attack) to support your captain later when he's caught while others dropped back. |

Idea: Some AI fixes
Spoiler a) If the race ends uphill, stage or race contenders should never attack on the flat if peloton is big.
b) If one of the contenders is willing to attack on mountain stage, his team should set a high pace before to reduce the peloton. Attacks from big peloton at the bottom of the climb by the best riders should be rare
Explanation:
a) In real life, big favourites never attack on flat from big peloton if the stage ends uphill, because they would be easily brought back by the helpers of other contenders if that happens. In the game it happens too often.
b) I think it worked like that in PCM2010, but in later versions attack from big peloton without team setting the pace before are more frequent. Unless it’s very short and explosive climb, top climbers never attack from big peloton in real life.
Why: For more realistic process of 3D races, which is possibly the most important aspect of the game for many players
Idea: New approach on time gaps
Spoiler
Explanations: I once had an echelons stage and riders were crossing the line one by one and the one who finished a minute (!) back was given the same time as stage winner. It should not happen. In previous versions of the game there were some gaps between top sprinters on the finish line, so I understand why it was set that 20 seconds gap was needed for time gap to be counted, because otherwise we would have some weird results with time gaps being counted on a sprint finish. But in PCM2015 finishes are much “tighter” so there’s not a danger of that anymore and the gap needed for time difference to be counted should be substantially lower to avoid situations that groups receive the same time when obvious splits occur.
Also there was a discussion about that on this forum before (I can’t find it so I can’t link it), but there was a suggestion that time should run at a slower rate at the finish line (let it be 2 times slower, excluding TTs where it would stay the same). First of all, gaps in 3D races are too big and unrealistic. This would be a really quick but efficient fix. Apart from that, it would bring more relevance for time trials in big stage races, because now they’re pretty much meaningless compared to mountain stages, because gaps are so big in mountains (or even hilly stages, what I highlighted in one of my previous posts). I believe it’s doable and there’s no need to keep the scale between distance and time at all cost since it doesn’t bring realistic outcome anyway.
Why: For more realistic outcome of races
Idea: Mountain training camps
Spoiler Explanation: There should be an option to send our rider for a mountain training camp. This would effect in increase of MO skill for a period of time, but also in significant drop of form for a period of time. For example our rider gets an MO bonus for 8 weeks, but for the first 4 weeks he suffers from significant drop of form, then his form comes back to normal. I believe a random factor should be included, so there’s always a gamble if our rider recovers his form in time for his important goal. For this to have more sense, it should be also used by AI and, of course, riders should be forbidden to race at the time which they spend on training camp. Also certain riders could be prone to react on training camps in certain ways, so we can learn with the time what is the most efficient approach to them, but a random factor should always be included.
There could be different scenarios of how the training camp pans out. For example:
Scenario 1: + 2MO for first 6 weeks, +1 MO for another 2 weeks, -15 to form for first 5 weeks, form normal after that.
Scenario 2: +2MO for 10 weeks, -15 to form for 6 weeks, -5 to form for another 2 weeks
Etc.
Also training intensity could be included, so we can chose between less MO bonus and less unpredictable form drop and more MO bonus but more unpredictable form drop.
Why: I guess it’s a thing that could be relatively easy to implement, but would give an additional aspect of unpredictability and realism for important stage races |

Idea: Short abbrevations change
Explanation: In a career mode longer than one season the non-controlled teams often change their sponsors. But the shortcuts in the races stay the same. For example: Bwin (SKY). So I would love to have new abbrevations for new teams (in my example: Bwin (BWI)).
Why?: So that firstly you can follow the team the riders belong too easier and secondly you get used to the team names more easily. I´m not feeling comfortable with a "Sprite" rider having "TFR" as the abbrevation, for me that´s still Trek Factory Racing.

Idea: Feed Zone on Stages
Explanation of idea: A designated area on each stage where each riders water bottles are refilled automatically. Without have to a send a rider to the back. Could also have a cool animation with team members holding out bags alongside the road during that time.
Why: Because that's real cycling.
Couldn't agree more as there's nothing worse especially on an important mtn stage of having to worry about your main riders needing water, especially when the designated domestique doesn't have the energy to go back and get the water. |

IMPORTANT!
Since we're in the beta testing period, some of us will be in closer contact with Cyanide. I've already submitted a list of suggestions taken by here, and there are quite a lot of them, if there is something else you'd like to suggest, well, hurry up then!
Something else, there could be some changes to the in-race HUD, if you can think of any ways to improve it, I am going to submit them to the Cyanide forum to have some feedback from them. Of course, there's the chance it won't be changed at all considering there won't be big issues with it. I already am aware of this great suggestion by florian96, fyi:
Spoiler
A Button to show the breakaway group or a rider in a separate window.
Here I got an example:
This speaks for itself. The placement and the size are just to show how I think it could look like.
Why:
If one of my guys is in front I often switch between the groups so I don't miss any important action. With a picture in picture I got both groups in sight and don't need to switch a hundred times in a race. This could also be interesting on a specific rider to spot on.
So basically, any other ideas worth considering guys?

Well, I liked old games how red name meant doing something tactics-wise, and the orange favorites could be vastly improved, particularly in the tour when i think Froome has crashed before Huez but its just Sagan getting dropped, or think Valverde snuck into a mountain break when he's five minutes down but it's just Alaphillipe. The analyse behaviour is a great feature and could be worked on and improved
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I would love the Picture-in-picture thing, really would be great, but I'm afraid that it might be to demanding for some computers. Let's hope it isn't
An other idea I really would see as a big improvement is the following:
Idea: Automatic generated National Champions jerseys
Explanation of idea: Because there aren't that much realistic NC jerseys (because there aren't that much Team-Nation combinations) but it is too much work to solely create every option, it would a big improvement if NC jerseys are automatically generated. If only by using the team sponsor and putting it on the chest and back of the default national champions jerseys, what shouldn't be that hard work I guess.
Why: It gives a far more realistic feeling as it still is a rider of your team. It could be a big improvement over the current 'riding flags' you have now. |

Transferts could do the same trick like for race jerseys if a team doesn't have that jersey |

There are a lot of possibilities depending of how detailed you want to go, but the most easy or simple way is that all the NC jersey's (and race/classification jerseys) have a box on the chest and back were the teams sponsor logo is placed. Not exactly as it is on the regular jerseys, but just that the sole logo (that probably exists somewhere in the db) is pasted on the jerseys. Perhaps even with a white box surrounding it, only just to make a small connection to the team |

The standard transfert look is not looking great, meaning that a new layout needs to be found
This proposal look just plain ugly

Indeed, in the first one the detail of the jersey is gone. And such detail might be different in every jersey. So perhaps it is necessary to manually make a spot/box for the logos per jersey. So that at every jersey the logo would appear on the most satisfying spot.
Maybe it shouldn't be a box with a colored backing, but a transparent one, with the logo as like an .png. However, that might not match with some jerseys as well.
Simple idea, but yet still a difficult one to implement well and satisfying I guess.. |

I have not played the 2015 game so I hope this point is still relevant.
I wish they'd bring back the little tab that used to run along the bottom of the main messages page that showed your schedule on a daily timeline basis and showed you what type of stage each stage was (i.e flat, hilly, mountain, tt etc). You were able to click on the stage and it would take you straight to it rather than having to go through the actual Schedule page and then scrolling through the stages of the race.
Only a small thing but it used to be a good function and I don't really know why they got rid of it. It was a good way of seeing what race would suit which riders without having to go into the actual race itself. |

Not sure if this has already been mentioned
Idea: Have pre-season training camps that start before 1st January
Explanation of idea: Pre-season training camps always start on 1 January of every season. There should be the option to send riders for pre-season training from November. Why not start the season on 15 November, or 1 December so that there is more time to prepare riders for the season, like in real life
Why: More realistic, riders would be in top shape from the start of the season as they are in real life. |

I havent visited this thread for a long long time, but reading some suggestions now, the idea of breakaway group being visible in little window after clicking the breakaway group would be the single biggest and best improvement in the pro cycling manager in history.
I absolutely hate switching the groups one hundred times per stage and i cant even count how many times i missed important move in either group because i was switched to other one.
Best suggestion ever florian!!! But well, it is Cyanide, you know, we will probably get new buildings instead.

New buildings specific to only the opening stage of the TDF, so useful!

A couple of new ideas I had over the weekend. Again, I'm currently playing 2014 game so these may not be applicable.
1. The option to place riders in the bunch at the start. Kind of annoying when all your riders are in the middle/back of the peloton at the start and so miss the break.
2. Option to choose the order of your riders in opening TT's. The number of time's my leader goes of in the first 3 of my team is also annoying.
3. I'm sure there used to be an option where you could use your domestiques to monitor your rivals form. I think this should be brought back as it was useful to know what kind of form your rivals are on to work out your tactics on the final mountain/end of the race. There could even be a new stat added where riders are rated on their ability/accuracy in monitoring rival riders. It could also be a good way to encourage players to sign domestique riders instead of ending up with a squad of superstars.
4. Sponsor signed riders. Similar to directors of football. Some sponsors may go over your head and sign riders on your behalf. Sponsors could be given ratings for how likely they are to step in. I know at the moment your sponsors rate you on the make up of your squad but this could be one of the ways the game punishes you if you ignore your sponsors wish to sign riders from a particular country. Alternatively sponsors may block you signing riders if they go completely against their philosophy.
I've never really played the game for more then a season and a half but can sponsors change in the game.? E.G. your sponsor may be British but then a new Italian sponsor comes on board and demands Italian riders. Then the Italian Sponsor leaves and is replaced by a German sponsor? Each time changing the demands of who you sign. |

I've had the chance to suggest this to Cyanide this year, they said they would consider about implementing it and were positive about it being in PCM 16.

Just discovered this thread - full of great ideas, am I late with suggestions? Hope not (well it's end of March, so probably I am), anyway, maybe someone will read them, so here goes:
Spoiler
Idea: Adjust aging, maybe add another factor that let's some riders age quicker and others slower.
Explanation of idea: If you run the game for a few years, you'll start seeing every rider above 33-35 years drop out of top level because their stats deteriorate so rapidly.
Why: Don't know if anything like that is implemented right now, but we need some riders to be able to compete at the top even at the end of their 30s and into their 40s, because that's the reality in the recent years (Voigt, Horner, Rebellin). Of course, most should retire at their mid 30s (or if left without contract for like 2+ years, even earlier), but some should go on for a few more good seasons.
Spoiler
Idea: Make loading screen interactive
Explanation of idea: You gonna bite my head off for this one, but either the loading times should be reduced (probably too complicated) or the loading screen must be transformed. The current rotating one is too minimalist, players should be able to see the sprints to plan the strategy, extra tips or fun facts (earlier winners - with the ones on the starlist highlighted, average age of riders in the stage, their average salary, numbers by nationalities, prizes, etc.), maybe mini-games, like cycling-themed tertris or cycling trivia that awards you with 1 € extra.
Why: Right now it's just the most time-wasting part of the game (especially for those with less capable PCs). I think there even was a bug earlier that when you pressed a button while a stage was loading the whole game crashed. In the current version I can see two or three rotating list, but it's not interactive at all, and it won't keep me entertained for 3-5 minutes that a stage loading might take. It's 2016 - I can not just order a pizza in that time, but it will also arrive before the stage is loaded! No harm there, but it just really can be that long. The key is that the player should be in control - make me push buttons and actually want to read through that data, not just check out the biggest competitors and their teams, because that lasts like 30 seconds.
Spoiler
Idea: Make stages longer (make a km longer to be precise)
Explanation of idea: I'm not asking for realistic sizes, just a bit bigger road particles (+10-20%) or maybe that smaller riders.
Why: To be honest I never checked how long is a piece of a road that counts as one kilometer really is compared to objects in the game (riders, houses, cars), but I'm quiet sure it's rather simplified. I'm not asking for realistic lengths, but it's rather irritating when you are trying to move your rider for sprint, attacking or anything, but he is stuck behind someone and he just can't move for like 500 meters. I know some adjustment was made to this in PCM14 or 15, but it's still not ideal. Long road parts sure wouldn't solve that totally either, but they would somewhat decrease the losses. Also riders at the back of the peloton could make it easier to the front. Adjusting the rider models to be smaller might work as well, but it might look unrealistic then. I guess scaling current stages could work as well, but I'm not an expert on that topic.
