Cancel the season! Road cyclists need ROAD to ride on! Useless riders! Back when I was a kid, TDF was ridden on cobbelstones for 500 miles a day!

Extreme Weather Protocol is killing cycling. The cancellation was pathetic.

That's not a cycle-race-worthy road!

The difference between now and when they didn't use extreme wether protocols (as often), is that now the organisers care more about the cyclists health.

It's disappointing for the race but it's actually good for cycling that they do this imo.

Yep they even had a plan B and C for the stage and couldn't get it together so the weather must be hectic

The weather forecasts say:
meteoblue.com/en/weather/forecast/wee...ly_3167211
www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/forecast...ly_3167211

Another one says it is 2C and another one says its 0C.
Also Monte San Vicino already got cancelled last year due to bad weather and there were rumours that the reason was the tarmac was in horrible condition.-Maybe it is the same this year.

Where is the snow?

Alakagom
It melted. Like snow does when temperature raises.

They had to take the decision yesterday as with protocol. Their fault is not having other strategies planned, especially with a race that whole GC depends on one stage. You can't blame them for their actual decision of cancelling it.

They could have started the stage and looked wheteher the snow had dried or not.

Yeah i think they should have started the stage and seen if it could be done or not. But i guess it's always easy to be smart afterwards.

Their forecast obviously must have showed the snow would stay. From economical point of view for the race and its organizers, it was better to cancel stage early if the data was there the situation was not going to improve.

Sometimes forecasts get it wrong, but can't blame them for their decision here. When it snows in mountains, it usually stays for quite a bit.

P.S.

I don't remember who it was but recently someone said: they'd better move the entire calendar one month ahead. Actually not such a silly idea, I think Smile

basically the day should´ve started by the plan B, just riding the last climb or the penultimate and the last one...

Even the Giro had plenty of snow in may in the last years, with this fcked up climate, you can't rely on good weather anymore.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Actually with the way the climate is shifting then doing that wouldn't be a bad idea at all
