I've installed a custom database and some cobblestone stages don't have that extra icon that was introduced to tell how diffcult the cobbles are (like green for kuurne, red for roubaix). I guess it's because it are stage files from older PCM's. And I have a couple of questions about those cobblestone stages:
1) I'm wondering how the game manages these stages? are they run with the lowest cobble diffuclty? or are they run with the highest cobble difficulty?
2) And has it impact on the race favorites? because like for Ronde Van Vlaanderen (which has no cobble icon in my game, isn't that strange?) I See that Kittel & Greipel are amongst the favorites, and they are riding in front of the peleton like they really believe they can win the stage and when the typical gaps occur on the hills/cobbles they are always in the leading group because they are positioned so well. In the end they do not win, but they take up space in the front of the peleton where I believe other cyclists should be, but aren't because the game considers kittel is a bigger favorite |

Cobbled stages I think need to be converted. Otherwise you will experience what you describe at 2).
Though haven`t properly tested this neither. |

Does the original Ronde van Vlaanderen file for PCM2015 has this new cobble-stone information? becuase in my game both the _2015 and _2014 file do not have it, but that might be because I've installed a database pack. So if someone could upload the original RVV stage that would be great. |

Can`t check from here.
But optionally you could download a Ronde Van Vlaanderen version from the Stage DB. Open the .zcts with the stage editor, rebuild all cities, change the cobbled difficulty and export it. |

The only impact fhe old stages have is in the simulation, where cobbles aren't considered. In 3d, that works exactly like it is supposed to be. The 2016 db has fixed all of those stages BTW, what db are you using?

I was using the FDB, anyway, with putting back the original RVV file all was solved. It's strange however that it shouldn't make a diffrence in 3D, but during my 4 runs with the stage without cobble icon there were alot of sprinters in the front, and with the stage with the cobble icon the sprinters were not in front... |

Yeah I forgot to mention that in these stages the AI considers the sprinters as favourites, so basically they will be the captains and not the cobblers. However when they get to the actual cobbles, the cobbled stats will actually count.

I would guess the game only uses cds files to determine favourites and simulate races, and it doesn't contain information about the cobbles in this case (only zcts does). The favourites for the stage then determine who are teams riding for.
Another possibility is that when there is no difficulty set for cobbled sectors, game automatically assigns difficulty 3 to them, which might be easier than in the new stage file with difficulties set in zcts.

Yeah, that's what I've noticed, that the cobble stat works, but in these races groups are mostly formed by gaps made at the end of important sections, and because sprinters arehigher favorites than some real favorites they are placed better in the peleton and reduce the chances of those "real favorites" (for example kittel en démare better placed throughout the race then benoot & stybar)
Anyway, good to have found out the ins & outs of this |
