So, Jungels huh.. it's about time he gets to collect the fruits. I look forward to see how he develops more this season. It also goes to show that whilst talents often times blossom at Etixx (Alaphilippe, Kwiatek recently etc), Trek is a bit of a sandpit for them. Or, presumably it is too early to say that yet, since Jungels last win according to PCS was also in February last year, so this could just be form.
I figure he has great potential for one week stage races, what about GTs?
He won both the road and TT national champs in June last year, also he had a great finish to the Tour so i'm not so sure Trek was the sandpit for him as it has been for others. I think he could be a top shelf 1 week stage racer and if he continues to develop could sneak a top 10 in a weaker GT.
As far as Porte well.........

I didn't see the stage, but well done Jungels! Let's see how you will perform in the Green Mountain

@Shonak, I really don't believe Jungels will make a top10 in a GT

Plenty of riders with less talent than Jungles have sneaked a top 10 in a GT, Amador in last years Giro is a good example

As far as Porte well.........
The problem with Porte is he is a very good support rider.
However, leaders have to be on top form every day. They can't afford to take it easy and loose time on certain stages like he would have done when he was supporting Froome. On flat stages he could take it easy and roll in with the broom wagon.
I don't think Porte ever really made a big impression with Sky when he lead the team.
It's still early in the season so it might not be fair to judge too harshly. I guess we will have a better idea of his ability as a team leader at the end of the season. |

Porte having a random bad day is nothing new to me.
In GTS yes, not in one week stage races early season on the first day.
@Strydz: Oh yeah, Luxembourg NCs. Well... that's not so much a race as it is a competition against him and.. Fränkie Schleck. Both Trek then.

That's not true, the only times he failed as leader with Sky was in GT's, he won plenty of big 1 week stage races as leader with Sky which to me is what type of rider he is, nothing wrong with making a career as a 1 weeker

Maybe a better climber but not a better overall rider, i'm not talking a top 10 at the Tour but a top 10 at a weaker GT is within Jungles capabilities

True. Although 2 Paris Nice wins isn't an amazing return for a rider with his climbing and TT skills.
I assume BMC have signed him to semi replace Cadel Evans and ride GCs. I don't think he has offered anything in the past to show he can do this.
I guess we'll see over the season. He may be a late bloomer a start fulfilling his potential. |

I feel the only possible explanation for Porte's poor day is illness and yes riders do get sick at times. The guy is for certainly a GT podium contender, if he can stay healthy. But I wonder what it is with some guys, if they get done in they just completely fold. Reminds of tempermental guys like Van Den Broeck who just get in their heads that they are off and then go BOOOM...
I have a feeling like others for Costa here... thought I would love for Dumoilin to win on 'Not so Green if my boogers were that Brown colour I would be worried' Mountain.
Can someone tell me who the hell 'Floris De Tier' is? This moter in bike thing must be catching on in the lowlands eh?

Possibly the next "Topsport guy" for 2016. But Topsport got a lot of them for this year. That's been the age for Van Asbroeck and Theuns at least.

He is the next Topsport Vlaanderen project it seems. Just like Bert Van Lerberghe.
This team is brilliant in developing those kind of talents.
Lampaert, Van Asbroeck, Wallays, Vanbilsen, Campenaerts, Naesen, Theuns.
Always when their best riders move up to a WT team they find 1-2 new guys that fill their gap. |

The reason why: He didn't really care.
Speaking after the stage, Porte was unperturbed by the time loss saying that he hadn’t placed many expectations on his performance in Oman. “It was quite a tough stage, it was fast, quite warm but it wasn’t unexpected that I lost time,” Porte said. “I’m not really here with any ambitions; I’d rather just try to get through the race and try to get some form out of it. It’s a great race to get the kilometres in the legs. For me the big target next is Paris-Nice.”

Jungels, nice for my fantasy team
De Tier is quite good, I was expecting him last year already when he had a good result in one of the spanish prep races, but didn't do much the rest of the season. Serge Pauwels also with a nice result, seems like his career is finaly starting with MTN.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yeah, thanks for telling me before placing points on you on the PCS game, lazy-ass!
