For me this game would be more exciting if nobody searched the clues in each picture and went off what they already knew/ gut feelings. Any chance we can agree on that?
Really, playing Geogussr with a search engine is like entering a spelling bee with a dictionary. |

Have to disagree. In Round 2 look how far off everyone was even with a search engine.

I think the last two were just that. It was impossible to find them via Googling, unless you work for the CIA. That's why I'm not putting any signs with place names in. Way too easy.
In an ideal world, you wouldn't be allowed to use search engines but there's no way for me to police it so I have to think of other ways to make it difficult. It's why running something like Big Brother must be so hard, hey Mr Seadog? General Knowledge tasks are pointless.

The thing is, even with a search engine I still have no clue about this one...

Round 4 Results
Well, this one was supposed to be a fun challenge. Yes, there were big clues, mainly the Heinrich-Hertz Turm in the distance. The flag of Hamburg flying proudly from the top of the building on the left made it easy if you knew what the flag of Hamburg was.
I'm afraid if you didn't say Hamburg, it's the end of the road. However, even getting Hamburg but not the right part of the city will cost you dear too. Who is still in the game?
matt17br | Hamburg, Germany | lakebeach | Hamburg, Germany | jihardy | Hamburg, Germany | Marcovdw | Hamburg, Germany | Bjartne | Hamburg, Germany | emre99 | Hamburg, Germany | jseadog1 | Hamburg, Germany | Croatia14 | Hamburg, Germany | Kiserlovski01 | Hamburg, Germany | Luxemburger | Hamburg, Germany | AbhishekLFC | Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA | DiCyc | Hamburg, Germany | The Rider | Hamburg, Germany | PeterRyder | Hamburg, Germany | trekbmc | Berlin, Germany |
15 entries. 13 in Hamburg. Yep, this was too easy. However, did those 13 all get the right place?
It was on the Jungfernstieg, the most prominent boulevard in Germany's second city, Hamburg. I know, what a surprise! Not everyone, however, put that, so who didn't get it?
Bjartne | 0 | Croatia14 | 0 | DiCyc | 0 | emre99 | 0 | jihardy | 0 | jseadog1 | 0 | Kiserlovski01 | 0 | lakebeach | 0 | Marcovdw | 0 | matt17br | 0 | PeterRyder | 0 | The Rider | 0 | Luxemburger | 3 | trekbmc | 257 | AbhishekLFC | 6634 |
Congratulations to Bjartne, who wins on alphabetical order! Okay, fine, we have 12 winners! Luxemburger suffers the agony of getting the city right but not near the correct street, destroying his chances of a top 5 finish. trekbmc went for the German capital 250 kilometres down the BAB24. AbhishekLFC was the only one who was not speaking Deutsch, moving a tiny distance from the previous round to Wisconsin.
So, here's a pointless table update that only affects three unfortunate people:

The final round will begin tomorrow. It's mathematically possible for any of the top 7 to take the win but it's looking most likely to be a straight shootout between the top two, who have been inseparable so far. Who will prevail?
I will not do city centres anymore.

Yeah, the tower in the background of the picture really was a hint.
It's coming down to the wire! Are you sure you won't do another city centre? I mean, it would be fine for me.

I spent 2 hours looking in Canada as jumping on a boat lake michigan caught me way off guard, but I got it in the end.
Big Brother is definitely pointless for general knowledge which is why this year has a theme that I am certain will make the game fair!

I took the jumping on the boat bit too seriously. No way out from those great lakes is there by boat? Just dragging that picture into Google images gave Hamburg btw. I thought that was too obvious. Shouldn't overthink stuff I guess Anyway...

You can actually go by boat from Lake Michigan to Hamburg, in theory. Have a look at google maps.

This is the message I got when I asked for directions on Google Maps:
Sorry, we could not calculate directions from "Lake Michigan" to "Hamburg, Germany"
1) I went south to hit the land mass of Chicago.
2) Going west only gets me as far as Milwaukee.
3) I followed north from Huron into Superior and then found the way blocked by a lot of land mass.
4) I followed east to Lake Huron then the land mass of Detroit blocked further progress.
Getting past Detroit on foot got me you into Lake Erie. From there going to Lake Ontario means crossing the Niagara!
Beyond that, I agree there is a route from Lake Ontario via Montreal and Quebec to the Atlantic. Plain sailing from there.
I guess I'm missing something.
Must have been one hell of a snooze our traveler took

In short: yes. Yes, you're overthinking everything.

Round 5
The final showdown. No written clues for this one. I want to see more of a challenge after the last farcical round. Whoever wins out of the top two will definitely deserve it but who will it be?
Where is our man?
You have until some time on Sunday afternoon/evening European time with the final standings revealed on Sunday night.

Very hard round and I didn't feel like wasting my time figuring this out just to be far away. Just went off of my first instinct and figured 2nd place would not hurt anything.

Only eight answers in so far but, crucially, both of the top two have theirs in. So, at this point, one of you has won it unless one of the five behind you gets it bang on. And I'm still waiting for three of them...
