Congrats Aidan, good luck!
So I ordered my turbo trainer yesterday and should arrive in a week or so. Really excited to use it. Quick question though, how do you guys entertain yourselves on the trainer? |

I be very bored, sometimes on an easy ride I read a book and I know people who listen to music. Also good is to go to a group trainer session.

Mine is (still) broken but: TV shows, basically. Arrow was good because there were lots of episodes out there and you did not have to pay attention that much to it.

guys I need your help...I want to purchase my first racing bike, but as I am a newbie I wanted to ask whether you guys have some tips for me. What is really needed as equipement, what is the best way to do indoor cycling, what is a good bike for a beginner with a smaller budget (student at university, you know the struggle ), are there any issues with taller guys you had (I´m around 2 meters), and so on...would love to see some help of you

I'd go for something like this, always a good bike, especially with aerodynamics.
Also, 2 meters tall? |

Always been using Zwift when I'm on a trainer recently. If focusing on Zwift while riding then it can give good motivation to keep going (another lap, another 'climb', another sprint, keep up with that random person, etc), plus I like recording my rides for all the stats. Then it's either music or a TV show to go with that.
Veloviewer are doing a nice summary of the year infographic. Here's mine:

My stats for the year. They are down from the last 2 years but injuries and illness has taken its toll and the last 2.5 months have been really tough suffering with Carpel Tunnel syndrome in both hands/wrists, will be getting operated on in February so looking forward to that! Did manage to finish (just) the Festive 500 challenge, swollen and painful but that makes 4 years straight finishing that challenge

Does anyone else enjoy riding in bad conditions?
Apparently we are on a amber weather warning tonight but despite the high winds riding back from work is the most fun I've had on a bike in about 2 months since I was riding to work and in the space of about 5 seconds it went from a road to a river.
Especially in short bursts it can be fun alright. Other than an "epic" fight for survival I'm not so much of a fan when getting battered by the wind and rain for 5 hours though...
Something that everyone agrees on - tailwind is always good
Is it odd that I love a strong head/side winds with driving rain and crazy hot/cold conditions? I honestly can't think of any conditions that would keep me from riding but hey i'm a Hells 500 rider so that's just what we do!
This was the temp riding yo work yesterday, it hit 43 degrees so to long after that pic
And this one is from earlier on in the year up in the Mountains
So as you can see, extreme conditions are my bag

Massive stats strydz, props! I didn't know you were giving running a shot, how did it go?
Here's mine. Mostly running this year, as it just goes way better to mix it with work-uni-leisure; and whilst I did most of my cycling almost exclusively between February and April, it's likely and unfortunate that I end up with even less kilometers on the bike in the new year due to me moving into a new flat, and probably having less and less time. However I think that I can make way more time for the bike in summer, so here's hoping for some mountain love in July, August.
In total I clocked up well almost 2.100 km on foot and roughly 3.650 on the bike. Additionally 82 km swimming.
