Bizarre Giro
Scatmaster111
So a few weeks ago I started a career with a custom Spanish WT team (Daily database, of course; first season). At the Giro, my leaders were Contador and Konig. First time trial stage, I attempt to do 3D race. Riders are going off, and then when it reaches Luke Rowe (Sky, 143rd GC at the time), the game crashes. So I decide "Alright, screw it, I'll just simulate," and it still went fine. Then in the Stage 19 uphill time trial, I also simulated, as I assumed the same crash would occur anyway. Contador wins, everything's fine, then the next day I notice Konig is missing, but he didn't withdraw and there wasn't a sick report the day after. He was 6th before Stage 19, finished 16th on the stage with a regular time gap and on the GC it said '+ - 6" (6)'. Contador ended up winning overall and my sponsor goal was satisfied, so I'm not to miffed about it, but I'm more just curious as to what happened.

Which version of the EP are you using exactly?
I think I've heard similar issues and it seems that the Giro is a bit problematic with the race classifications in PCM 14.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this kind of thing so I'm not sure what EP means, sorry.

Oh yeah, no problem, I believe it's V1.5. Sorry for the delayed response, been busy with exams.

My best guess is that it's one of those "random withdrawals" after a stage (in 3D mode) due to such a minor injury that you didn't even get a report.

I'm sure you've seen it before, a rider doesn't crash in 3D mode, he might even win the stage - but it doesn't count, according to the game he withdrew due to, say, a sprained wrist. Thankfully, it doesn't happen that often, maybe one a season on average, but it does happen.

And afterwards, if you look at the latest results, you'll see that +- 6 seconds for the GC for withdrawn riders - that's true even if you manually, on purpose, withdraw a rider.

I noticed this in the Criterium du Dauphine later on when Michael Rogers withdrew after finishing the stage, but it still said "Withdrawal". is the "+ - 6"" to do with PCM's weirdness with the Giro as matt previously suggested?

It might actually be the difference between a rider dropping out of the race because of an injury and manually withdrawing a rider. In which case the answer to your opening post is: You withdrew Konig manually without noticing. Smile

I just checked the results of a stage race where one of my riders was injured in a simulated stage and for him it says Withdrawal. I also pulled a rider from the race before a stage and for him it says +- 34 seconds.
