I'll take a dominant-looking win in very tight fashion
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Had not realised that the first 2 matches were so important, to avoid a 0-2 result - would not have gone for those tactics in that case. Should read more, rather than making assumptions

Nice to win but it would be funnier if my opponent took part in the game.

3 points in the pocket, though not the way you want them

Yeah tactics for group stage are quite different than for the knock-out rounds.
Winning by 2 or 3 sets can have a big influence in the group stage. In the later knock-out stage, only winning matters.
Which reminds me, in knock-out, I'll have to find something against draws. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to offer them.
Probably will ask for a second set of tactics or something. |

A win, although SN proved that the tactic was very risky

Decent first round for me with a draw. Now against the leader of the group, looking forward to it.

Glad to see you're enjoying the game. It's quite simple but I believe that's the charm of it
That said, already 3 results in from the next match day. 10/16 tactics received. |

"Well, it's a game of three halves... knew that I could go all in top two sets... obviously, I sacrificed set three, but I got all three points in the end... pleased we could start the group so well... just like to say I have a lot of respect for SN and what he's done for this forum... Thanks a lot."

13/16 in already, nice
Also, just want to say don't take it personal that I don't respond to your pm when you send them in. I'd have to answer way too many messages that way. So sorry about that |

If they are all in do we get the results earlier?
Or doesn't it work that way?

Yes, if they're all in. Only need those from dubbeldekker and thobe96 now.

For some reason, you always give me a reason to reply
But it's a funny coincidence, though |

We can get replies for interesting messages! I need to go back to my IWS tactics

Only need pm from dubbeldekker now. Though he didn't send in any last time, hope he can still send it in this time.
So we'll wait.
Though if a deadline isn't met twice, I don't wait a third time, for future reference. |

Group A
lakebeach | vs | thobe96 | 13 | | 1 | 7 | | 12 | 0 | | 7 | | | | dubbeldekker | vs | spilak23 | 12 | | 8 | 0 | | 10 | 8 | | 2 |
Group A saw an interesting fixture. Thobe96 lost the first set against lakebeach but then clawed back with 12 and 7, taking 2 points from the match. Dubbeldekker, a slow starter in this game, caught up in style in an exciting match. After each winning a set, Spilak had to succumb to dubbeldekker in the third set. Group A stays incredibly close one match from the finish. 3, 2, 2 and 2 points.
Group B
marcovdw | vs | jandal7 | 8 | | 0 | 7 | | 10 | 5 | | 10 | | | | jaxika | vs | Croatia14 | 5 | | 2 | 14 | | 12 | 1 | | 6 |
Jandal choosing a popular tactic, but it can work out horribly. Still, after taking three points last match, jandal can afford to sacrifice a set. And it works out perfectly, as marcovdw used 8 points to jandal's 0. Jandal had no problem taking the second and third set.
In the other match, jaxika always managed to stay a bit ahead of Croatia. 5 against 2 and 14 against 12. Game, Set, Match. Croatia really needed points and is now left without any points. He'll need a miracle in the last group stage match.
Group C
Luxemburger | vs | jihardy | 10 | | 5 | 9 | | 10 | 1 | | 5 | | | | roturn | vs | Vali | 4 | | 8 | 12 | | 10 | 4 | | 2 |
Some nice matches in Group C this round. Luxemburger and jihardy fought out a tough first set, using 15 points in total. The second set was even bigger, with 19 points, jihardy taking the upper hand. In the last set, the remaining points decided jihardy was the winner.
In the other match, Vali took the first set with 8 points. The second set was for roturn, but it cost him 12 points. Still, 4 points were enough for him to take the last set and the game. He takes the lead of the group.
Group D
Mresuperstar | vs | SportingNonsense | 0 | | 7 | 11 | | 13 | 9 | | 0 | | | | trekbmc | vs | weirdskyfan64 | 9 | | 12 | 2 | | 8 | 9 | | 0 |
Both Mre and SN had no points yet, so their match was of vital importance. SportingNonsense decided to go with the aggressive approach. No points for the last set, all in on the first two. Mre tried to go with a careful approach and sacrifices the first set. SN took the first one. But SN wisely set most of his points on set 2. Mre was outperformed in two sets, putting SN back in the race and leaving Mre without points.
The other match was about taking the lead in the group. They could play it more easily, already having scored points. Weirdskyfan took it easily in two sets and is the only player in the game with 6/6. A great start for him.
