Jesus poor Edmund. Taking first two sets but then Goffin pulling through and now 5-0 in final set. Poor guy very close to tears. Must be tough, indeed. |

I feel for the guy too, but what a moment for Goffin to pull off his the first win-after-being-two-sets-down in his career! |

Poor guy indeed, but if we lost that one, it would've been over already.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

To be fair, in terms of rankings, that's the only game of the 5 where Belgium outrank GB. Murray should win his two games so it will come down to the Doubles game. Not sure how strong the Belgium doubles team is, but they are in the final so they must be fairly decent. |

And Murray breaks at the first time of asking. He could do with a simple 3 set game if he's going to play 3 games in 3 days. |

That really surprises me, I think Ward was the only other Brit in the top 100 a couple of months ago but Edmund can't have been too far behind (which makes it even stranger that they picked Evans to face Tomic).
Belgium have had a fairly easy run so far tbh. Switzerland and Canada had none of their stars and they had to come from 2-1 down to beat Argentina on hard court. My prediction would be that GB win 3-1, but if Belgium can score an upset in either the doubles or against Andy then I'd probably expect them to win it in the fifth rubber.

We needed to beat Murray once to win this, and this was our best shot by far

The same as any other country would do if you took their best player away. |

Well now we need Goffin to pull a major surprise fighting Murray.
I believe he can but it'll be damn tough! |

Just back from Belgium now, was in Ghent on Friday watching the action. Good fun cheering on Britain amongst all the Belgains - but quite a few other Brits there too at least. Edmund did great and Murray was Murray, nice to finally get a chance to watch him play. Just about able to follow the Doubles on trains home today, and winning that puts us in a great position.
As a minor rant, it was an absolute con by Belgian tennis regarding the prices for food/drink and the system you had to go through to buy anything, and even charging for the toilets.

You should've let me know you were in Ghent, we could've grabbed something to eat!
Yeah, paying for toilets is big here in Belgium, happens at the movies, at the mall...
Hope you had a good time here, though. |

Just seems a bit much when you've already paid to get in! Yep, had a good time - managed to fit in a visit of the Gravensteen in the morning too, always like a good castle. Was staying in Brussels though, so not in Ghent for particularly long - headed straight back after the Tennis.
Eurostar makes it all quite easy though, so tempted to see how easy it is to come back for something like Ronde or Liege, in future.

I hate it as well! They pretty much give the toilets to a lady who gets the money in exchange for cleaning them, it's definitely an odd system. Food and drinks are always outrageous at big events, better buy something around the corner of the arena (and go to the bathroom for free while you're there ).
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Maybe so, but there's such a huge gap between Murray and the rest of the team. If you take Federer out of Switzerland for example, Wawrinka would still be likely to win two matches. Same with France if you take out Simon or Gasquet. I don't think anyone in the British team would reliably win singles matches against high-quality opponents.
