yeah but hurdles is much more technique. Shubenkov didn't touch any of the hurdles while Oliver for example ran through all of them
Yeah, that is true. But why there is only 1 'white' athlete in the finals then?

Anyone who believes that black people are the "inferior race" has obviously never watched athletics.
As a norwegian, I didn't have high hopes. Norwegian track and field hasn't been this bad in years. but this time it was dismall.

What do you guys think about the massive case with wide-spread doping of russian athletes covered by some of the most important state bodies in Russia? Will WADA and CAS push it thaat far to throw the athletes out of competition? That would be SOMETHING!
Of course russians are rushing to the media with their usual fairy tale about political cause for this and all that shit. But i agree that Russia is not only place where something like that ever happened and this seems like massive mediocracy thing to fill up the news, while all thing around Fuentes for example were dealt with in relative media silence and without consequences for spanish athletes.

The report hasn't done much apart from confirm my own worst prejudice's of Russian sport.
The full scale and impact won't be properly understood for a long time. FIFA must be relaxing slightly now they are shoved out of the spotlight, which shows he scale of this WADA report.
I'm not going to go into all the minutity of the athletic details, i'm interested but not hugely. I'm more interested in the parts relating to RUSADA who obviously deal with a lot more than just Athletics. WADA is pushing to take away their accreditation which goes across all sports (near enough) including our beloved Cycling.
That's what i'm looking around for, the talk and ramifications for other Russian sports. Going to be interesting to see what happens.

It angers me to see Sebastian Coe pretending to be shocked. He's spent the last 6 months attacking the credibility of the reporters and anti-doping experts who were trying to make this public.
Coe was desperately trying to cover this up, and now he's trying to sell himself as the savior. Like the Channel 4 reporter said, either Coe was incompetent or he's corrupt, which is it? I think it's pretty obvious which one it is.
We've all seen enough doping scandals to know what's going to happen next, right guys? The media and authorities will pretend it's only russia and only athletics, while the rest of the world carries on doing the same thing. |

I did see some people today admitting that it wasn't only Russia that has a doping problem, which is a promising sign although I doubt that anyone else will be so heavily penalised as a result. Hopefully along with the ongoing FIFA scandals this will see a serious approach to root out both systematic doping and high-level corruption inside the IAAF in the near future.
The idea that the whole Russian Federation could be kicked out of the Olympics in Rio seems a bit far-fetched to me. As much as it does make sense to penalise and embarrass drug cheats on the biggest stage possible, I can't see it happening. IIRC there haven't been massive exclusions from the Summer Olympics since the boycotts of the 1980s and the increase of the amount of money and professionalism in sport since then has been enormous, which surely makes it harder and more costly to kick one of the big nations out.

That the USA & China are the 2 biggest countries in the world and GB were the hosts of the games whose atheletes were be specially motivated to win.
Doesn't really say anything really. |

Motivation... sounds like a superb excuse
And USA is as doped as Russia. Sure USA have proper anti-doping programs but also have more money to create better drugs

You're not a French journalist are you? "Anyone who is not from my country and is successful is obviously cheating despite there being no evidence whatsoever". |

Usually there suspicions and even in some cases evidence..
Basically everyone slightly clued up in cycling world knew Armstrong doped yet PUBLIC was completely unaware until he admitted it Same case here unless you are clued up in certain sport you think there must be ''no clear evidence''

Well I think you are and according to your logic that's all the evidence I need, so you are.
They do it by having more athletes competing in a wider range of sports. Also drugs give you an edge, they don't make you super human. You have to have a certain level of ability to win a medal at the Olympics even with drugs. You could give all the Russians all the drugs in the world but they couldn't beat Bolt over 100m. |

You think Bolt is clean? Really?
My god man! It's no secret that there's a heck of a lot of doping going on, especially in Athletics. It's just much easier to villify Russia than the USA or China. Although i don't imagine the US Government being as heavily involved as the Russian or Chinese ones are.

I'm off. Why do you even bother watching sport if everyone is on drugs? |
