September is not yet over, but after 3 big stage races it is time for an update nonetheless. The Tour of America has dominated the month but the penultimate HC race Tour of Britain offered nearly as many ranking points. Then there was Grands Prix Cyclistes which awarded a total of 894 ranking points - compared to the 463 that are scored at a C1 classic, which had the same RD cost.
Tour of America
4 riders picked up more than 100 points in this race: Berhane (225), Granjel Cabrera (214), Lövkvist (206) and Anacona (137).
Eritel supplemented their GC win with van Heerden's sprints to top score, with sprinters really securing a fantastic result for Mobil. Most teams had something in the race to cheer for - perhaps the most fortunate being Eusklatel, whose points were most reliant on breakaways and the KoM jersey. They still bottom scored, but it could have been a lot worse. Eritel matched their overall season PPrD in this race, but everyone else was below their PPrD rating.
The Hills
Many of the promotion contenders came to the fore over the two hill-heavy stage races. Many riders scored well in both races: Kelderman (35), Ben Nasser (345), McCarthy (237) and LL Sanchez (159), while Bazzana (230) risked a failed drugs test in Britain.
So, onto the new standings, and Aegon keep their top position and infact extend their advantage. Unexpected news for Gazelle, who are traditionally stronger on the hilly terrain.
After a worried position not too long ago, Puma - SAP backed up their Baltic performance in style and storm up to 3rd and surely a return to the PT division. Kenya also took great strides in that regard to go 5th, and Evonik are up to 6th - a likely promotion position still due to Venchi.
Karcher slip to 7th but are still just 53 points away. Risa go up to 8th but perhaps needed their Vink fortune to hold out, if they were to really push for a promotion position. Lofkvist helps Swedbank remain in the Top 10, keeping Prio outside of it,
America helps Eritel up 2 spots to 13th, with a few stage wins lifting Bonsucro to 16th. There are also 1 place gains for Project Africa and Azteca, now back in the Top 20. Mobil have pushed away from immediate relegation danger, while Vontobel scored across all 3 races to gain 3 spots for 23rd.
The relegation fight remains close, with 33 points in it. Children of Chernobyl are back in the bottom 5 but still have a chance against Siam Cement, and Euskaltel too. Lululemon keep in touch, and desperately need a strong result in Rheden.
Sauber enjoyed one of their more succesful races of the season, but in America and Britain they scored exactly the same as closest rivals cycleYorkshire, with both closing the gap on Eddie Stobart.

Please Prevar, save my team by doing what you did in San Sebastian, a couple of times please...
Also if Euskaltel will avoid relegating with less than 10 points I will just be so damn mad about that ToA Team Class they won due to lucky breakaway presence...

The Tour of America once again proving not worthy of the race days Swedbank had an excellent race their but with only an 11 PPRD it's basically halfed their chances of gaining 7th probably, Risa luck in Canada is great for them giving them a chance of catching Karcher whereas i'm going to need a lot of luck to get near them too at the moment and the same applies for Prio and Swedbank it all rest on what the 5 of us have left to race here's mine
Rheden : No one
GP Plouay: Bellis
Milano - Torino: Bellis / Boily
Columbian: Intxausti
Giro D'ell Emila: Bellis / Boily
Tour of Beijing: Bellis / Boily
Luck in Rheden is need if we get some there that could change the race in our favour but in my man-game years luck has never been my strong point. |

Hold on too the top 10! And we can acheive 2/5 goals this season
Thanks for the fast update, was very curious about how it looked after ToA! |

This is a pleasant surprise and seeing I have still 5 PCT classics left and more or less decent start lists in all including some potential high scoring squads, I hope to defend the PCT title.
Thanks for the update. |

Hidden side not from ToA, BLK is now looking at 1/20 Goal points for the season! If nothing else that is a huge result for me
We're not completely out of the fight but we're not really in it either, awkward no-mans land of 27th place. Certainly safe from Eddie below. Relying heavily on Rheden to deliver us a big resut but we've got Paris-Tours as well. I'm not hopeful and certainly am resigned to relegation, but lest give these PCT boys one last scare

Looks like a very exciting battle for the last relegation spot. Siam's points really have dried up, for a long time now. There is still hope for Chernobyl.
By my reckoning Bonsucro are 5 points short from America (should be on 129). Not that it matters too much. I guess those 5 points are from the TTT not being added? My record of the points in the spoiler:

Great update for us. Roy even scores some points, if only he was as good as Bazzana though! |

Nice to see McCarthy up to 10th, hopefully he can hang on to that now. Also good to see we stay 12th, and even better to see the pprd levelled out after America, looking well on track for our Top 15 goal now.

The last few races were appalling in terms of p/RD. America was always a gamble, but we really got screwed in Britain - not to mention countless other times. I really don't know what has gone wrong: my squad has reasonable strength, my planning was good, and we were tipped for a top 13 finish in the previews. Now we're fighting for scraps.

Feeling very safe now that we'll promote, with Karcher 350 points behind and with 4 less racedays left. Still, anything is possible and we still need to continue as we are in case Karcher or even Risa have a huge score somewhere.
Ben Nasser 13th was something I didn't expect this season after some very poor performances. He's managed to redeem himself though with two great races.
At the bottom it's going down to the wire. Chernobyl could still secure survival with two big performances from Prevar in their final two races, as could Lululemon with a big result somewhere.
Thanks for the update SN. |

Kärcher needs exactly 50 pprd in their remaining races to even equal our current points total, so I guess Kelderman just did the job for us.
If I had anything to decide, he could stop scoring now, I'm not ready to pay much more for him than I already had to this season...
Surprisingly, we even got back into the Top 3 with two massive races, although I guess BPost will strike back in Rheden, and I'm not sure we even deserve to end up this high after an indeed erratic season.
From now on, I'll try to focus on the relegation fight a bit more since there seems to be a lot of suspense in it right until possibly the last race.

Thanks for the update!
I guess this settles the top 5 now. The tour of Britain was a catastrophe with Puma and Kenya both gaining 200+ points on us in the race that was supposed to get us a gap on them if we wanted any chance to beat'em.
I dont rate my chances to close that 300 points gap to Kenya again. Only 3 classics with my two superstars are left so it's all about defending #6. Even with Bacardi looking likely to disband i dont want to trust that they can stay out of the relegation spots
Evonik's remaining PCT/CT races:
| Rheden GP | Boonen | | GP Plouay | Geschke | | Milano-Torino | Siskevicius | | Paris-Tours | Boonen | | Giro dell'Emilia | Geschke / Siskevicius | | Tour de Faso | Flaksis / Ingels | | Beijing | Siskevicius | | Japan Cup | Sanchez |
With few race days remaining for Kärcher it looks good for sixth but i cant afford any of the three highlight races to be a disappointment. At least we'll have a goal race on the last day of the season should it come down the wire but i'd prefer if we dont actually need that
Risa was also rather strong the last few months so i cant rule them out yet.
The relegation fight is still very close with Euskaltel, Siam and COC fighting for that one unlucky spot. Mobil and Vontobel are not out of danger either while Lululemon can still promote as well. This can come down to the last race as well.
2 more positives I take from this update:
1) LLS seems on the best way to win the individual crown which would be awesome.
2) No matter what still happens - we should definitely finish as best promoted team which already is a sign for the great season we enjoyed.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Gotta admit that ToA was not what I hoped for at all in terms of points, but had my share of good races this season so its okay. But considering we still got Colombia left I feel relatively safe though.
Can't belive Bazzana is keeping Aegon in the top though
Nemiroff still got a shot at survival aswell, which is nice to see, considering both our teams have fought in the lower side of the table all year!
Thanks for the updates!

Just one more month to go! PCM14 won't be missed around here, for obvious reasons. Not only us but many teams like Bonsucro (Roy), Eritel (van Heerden), RBC (Intxausti), Mobil (Pedraza), among others have met very low profile performances from their leaders.
I sympathize a lot with what aidan said. Maybe it's just bad managing, but it feels like a lot of bad luck instead.
Anyway, that is not to say that the guys on the top of the charts don't deserve to be there. There are plenty of great squads, with tremendous depth and well thought out race plans.
Thanks for another informative update SN And good luck for all the guys involved in the fight against relegation!

After a rather bad Britain, and a Canada that could have been so much better, I'm very satisfied to see us so close to the top still.
Interesting to see Aegon passing Gazelle in the pprd, will be a huge battle for the title in the coming races.
Thanks for the update, SN. Sending out my strongest men in the coming races, hopefully we'll finish in the top 10, and maybe even overtaking Karcher to finish 7th. Would be a great season for us, for sure.

Wow that sound ominous for the rest of us in the promotion battle,
quick question have your team actually had as much luck as it feels like?? |

Haha, that depends on the eye Have had three top 10s in the GCs with breaks (and Vink's 11th in Canada), but all of those result who would have been possible with the other riders within the team, I would say. Mostly only have "luck" in the hilly races, which I would say come down to a good depth in that department.
Our big lucky spot has to be Vink winning Berlin, which was 140 points in a race that would have been, most likely, a zero-pointer if not.

Can we just never mention that race again please?
I'm so happy if we never have to ride that again.
